Hey all,

Just a revision question for all us dumb-asses out there... In episode 24 when Kaoru descends through nerv headqaurters and finally reaches central Dogma to get to that "thing" on the cross, (can't remember the name of it), he starts talking to himself and realises something, then he asks shinji to kill him so the human race won't be destroyed. What does he realise that makes him not want to become one with adam (is that what it's called?), thus causing a possible 3rd impact or whatever. Why didn't he do it??

Cheers,

hi genesis and welcome to my forums :D

from what has been said before, it ain't Adam on the cross but Lilith.... that is Kaworu's realisation.. i'll let others explain it better :D

As Karou is descending he is wondering why Humans would use the Evas, as the Evas are born of Adam.

Karou is also the only Angel that seems to have free will.

It is hard for me to explain exactly what he realises, but it seems that he decideds that Humans should be the ones who live through 3rd impact.

It seems however that it is only humans who need the future.
I sort of deal with this in my site, though it might not be intelliagble to everyone (im waiting for people to email me with suggestions) http://ath.myeva.net (this bit is up, for now)

im not at my best atm, but ill have a go :>

he realises the value of the human existance. he understands why humans use the evas to fight, even though the evas are "the engine of their own destruction" - to survive.
he sees that humans live in "future optimism" - they rely on the future for their their sole reason to exist. this is based on all of his experiences with humans (mostly shinji), which are only unpleasant (based on the now and the past).
apparently the angels dont have this hope (dont need it???), and didn't understand it. kauoru discovers this and understands the worth of humanitye....
