Bad News For Vandread Fans...good news for the rest

Well with Studio Gonzo focusing on Full Metal Panic right now and with the Gatekeepers OVA to also come this year as well as the rumored second series of hellsing (14-26) more vandread this year from gonzo looked unlikely.

Well after seeing this it's even more unlikely that vandread fans will see more of vandread this year.

The anime is called Sentou Yousei Yukikaze and with GONZO/Digimation pouring their all into this OVA, this could be a very big title in 2002.

Well their could be more vandread in 2003 vandread fans but i don't think so for the year that is 2002

Damn,I was hoping for at least an OAV to conclude the series.

ah well, gatekeepers is pretty cool so I'll settle for that... I want more Gatekeepers!

and really, if you noticed the ending sequence of episode 13, it was a different ending with flashbacks across both seasons. Note that the final First Stage ending didn't have that. So hence, the seem to be closing the series.

Well, considering that they had followed the now-standard 26 episodes, it seems plausible. Of course, what they could do is start a whole new season as well, so I don't think it's quite out of the question as of yet. While we may not see a new Vandread series til next year, if at all, I do think that perhaps they will air some kind of "special" OAV or Movie, depending. A one-shot deal would probably not take as much time as committing to a whole other series as of yet, and it'd whet the appetites of all us Vandread-ites until next year:D

Well, I DL-ed the Sentou Yousei Yukikaze sneak-peek video, and I must say that the animation quality looks as good as Vandread Second Stage. GONZO have really done a good job... there a couple of scenes in the peek that look almost photographic.

Ah well, we cant push the plot of vandread too much or it'll ruin the series. All good things must come to an end eventually.

Well if anyone's interested the Yukikaze promotional clip is now available over the net and is similar to the kiddy grade promo

Looks like I was right with Gatekeepers OVA, more hellsing and this coming out this year, though i missed out on Kiddy Grade coming from Gonzo

I'll go track down that better version of the Yukikaze preview clip... it looks good. once it comes out, I'll gripe at StramiT to get the fansubs for me.

It's not just that footage in better quality, it's a proper 5 minute trailer, that it is.

Also DNA you should check out the Kiddy Grade thread also in General and other anime. It has also had a 5 minute trailer out and not only does it have chracter designs, but it's directed by Keiji Gotoh of Nadesico fame. (as well as Those Who Hunt Elves, Gatekeepers)

I really don't see a Vandread 2 in my mind. It's got no motivation. Before, we have the harvest conflict from Earth. Earth was the strongest thing there was. Now it's all gone. The End. Don't see a continuation. What, is the crew gonna catch and punish gay people now?
