After watching the first few episodes of Ayashi No Ceres I'm very dissapointed. I loved Fushigi Yuugi but from what I've seen this is nowhere near as good. I WANT to like it, but it's just so........boring I guess.

Anyway, the reason I'm posting this is not to just diss this show. I want to know if it gets better after the first ten epistodes. I remember FY started kind of slow, but it got much better in the middle. So how about this show? Also, what do other FY lovers like myself think about this show?

NO it doesnt...

it does have its moment... but they die eventually... i wont spoil anything for you but... THOSE moments are worth watching... Aya and that other guy who's name i cant remember right now's moments S-U-C-K!!!

The manga was awesome... The anime just... eh... it doesn't do it justice... GrrrRRr..... I even liked that guy who's name I can't remember right now on the manga... on the anime... i just wanted to decapitate him. How I cheered when he got hurt....

What's his name again? scratching head*

I'm not the only one!!! It's about time....
I thought I was the only who thought it was boring.. I t has the most boring plot.. the manga is so much better cuz it has the best cliffhangers and more explanations and junk like that the anime is just boring and leaves out the best stuff the manga had to offer...

I also feel totally lost in the plot of this show sometimes. Half the time I'm watching it I'm thinking what the hell's going on.

I thought the series was ok... a bit slow-moving and rambling at points... but I don't think I'll ever forget...

********SPOILERS*********

Chidori's death scene. I think this has got to be one of the most powerful scenes in any anime I've ever seen.

Nairohe, are you referring to the one with the bandana and chopsticks as weapons or the guy with red hair and a grooved knife?

its tooya.... yech... i like yuuhi... not tooya. chopstick guy is cool. he's dreamy...

but yeah... for the most part, ayashi no ceres was just rambling.

SPOILERS

i dont agree that chidori's death was the emotional. you barely got to know that annoying kid... maybe in the manga it WAS emotional and the most tragic scene... aside from that other girl who happened to have had Ceres in her body as well... flew and decided to kill herself and went splat on the road down below... now that one was a bit gruesome and touching.

I'm not talking about the girl herself, yeah she was annoying... I'm talking about the way her death scene was played, with Yuuhi trying to keep her awake, and her whispering something into his ear. Just the way he said, "Come on, you can't just leave a sentence hanging like that. There's so many ways to finish it... I'm ready to hear them now..." that is a powerful scene. I think it was more effective because she was so annying during the rest of the show. He didn't like her either, but when she was dying, he finally accepted that maybe there could be something there... but it was too late.

Sure, it might be a bit meladramatic, but it worked really well for me.

Damn Shoujo tear-jerkers! <shakes fist>

I thought AnC was very good . . . but in the beginning it was kinda confusing and boring . . . around ep 16 or 17 it gets good . . . and the ending was quite satisfying . . . :)

I liked it. Compelling plot, lots of twists, has an end (that makes sense as well!). Unfortunately it leaves nothing open to specualte about, which is kind of annoying, but I don't mind too much. They can't do everything. Apparently the series isn't as good as the manga, but I haven't managed to get my hands on that yet, unfortunately.

I don't speak or read any japanese, so that means that i can only have the translated versions. Only the first volume of AnC graphic novel is out. I only just started to collect the anime. But the manga is MUCH more better than the anime. The anime was so far from the plot line of the manga. It was kinda disappointing at first... but I still like it. Yuuhi is the best!

Someone put it better in the other thread 'I just ended up hating all the characters', well said.

That scene with Chidori is proabably the most powerful scene in the anime, on the other hand that scene is the most powerful in the anime. I thought it could have had some impact if I actually gave a sh!t about her and it wasn't so cliche, not to mention contrived.

I hated the characters of this anime with a vengence and I wanted Tooya to die so much! In the end, ugh, well you know what happens.

In my opinion, I thought that the manga was better! :D

They already have Ceres V.2 out("V.2 Yuhi".) I liked FY better though because there's more romance and less gory scenes. The Ceres manga, I think, is better than the anime.

Oh so the manga is better? More intrigue?! More character development?!? More cliffhangers?!?! I must find it!!!! *rushes to comic shop*

This is late advice now, but if anyone didn't like the first 10 episodes, then you wouldn't like the rest. Its all the same dramatic, heated, tense stuff.

*********SPOILERS**********
I didn't find Chidori's death scene the most dramatic, though it was sad. I don't think they developed her character or relationships enough for me to appreciate it. (Not to mention showing what impact this would have on her little brother!!! How can that be omitted?!?!)

IMOP, the most most touching scenes are Shouta trying to walk (cliche but so damn cute), Suzumi's past, and Tooya "dying". I hated Tooya, but it was mainly the effect on Aki that was moving (or freaky...) THE most heart-wrenching scene is the "other Ceres" committing suicide. Wow, that was painful to watch. Hearing Aya scream...

Ayashi No Ceres "probably" could have done better. I think it was great either way, but, each episode is like fifteen minutes long, and there's twenty-four of them, so to me, it's actually like watching one long movie. The romance was kind of rushed, the plot wasnt, but the romance was. I think the characters should have gotten to no one another first before falling in love with each other. But, anyways, I think the story got more better from episode sixteen, or twenty and up.

It all depends as to what kind of stories your mostly into. If your looking for a light-hearted fluffy romance, your going to be disappointed with Ceres because this story in general was a lot darker and serious than FY.

As for the anime in general. The entire series was crammed into 24 episodes making it somewhat rushed. Many scenes in the manga were not present in the anime, some characters personalities slightly changed too, not to mention that some didn't get the character development the original manga had. The manga was much better and if you happen to like manga, this series will surely not disappoint you. The entire series has already been released!! I would highly recommend it. ;)

P.S. - This thread is so old, it probably won't get much attention. Still, its nice to help for anyone who is interested in Ayashi no Ceres. :)
