i didnt know wheter to put this on the tenchi forum or in here...or other anime, but what the heck, thats what mods are for!
anyway, which do you prefer, El Hazard or Tenchi Muyo! ? both have the same creator. personally, i like el hazard more. for the ova's, ill definatly pick El hazard instead of the tenchi ova's, even if the 3rd tenchi ova gets released, my decision still stands. the EH ova was magnifecently done, and it has one of the best endings ive seen (up there with bebop). for the tv series, i still prefer EH over the tenchi tv series'. i like wanderers more than Tenchi Universe becuase wanderers isnt to 'wacky' and its kinda more serious. and Wanderers is more of the romantic comedy, as in light-hearted. and o yea, Alternative world was a tv series as well, i like it becuase it continued the ova timeline, and the notorious final episode (and qawool is hot). well when it all comes down to it, i like EH better becuase its more serious.

The first El Hazard OVA is a great work, but it's plot is straight forwards and less interesting than the Tenchi Muyo OVA. Like them both, but Tenchi OVA is a better work.
Think the El Hazard spin-offs are all better than Tenchi Universe. The story is continued to reveal what happens between Miz Miz and Fujisawa.

I haven't seen much but I'm starting to like El Hazard better than Tenchi. Tenchi recycles the same formula over and over again while El Hazard does a few things different. There's my 2 cents. :)

Guess I should call them sequels, rather than "spin offs".
OVA 1 was an entire story, then OVA 2 and the Alternative World was added.
It's a very enjoyable series. I can watch it as much as I watch the Tenchi Muyo OVAs. :p

The Tenchi OVA1 and OVA2 has 13 complete episodes, plust an extra "half episode" omake at the end.
Coming up is a new 3rd OVA series in Japan and yet another spin-off about the Galaxy Police...

now that the creator of tenchi's almost done with the 3rd ova's of tenchi and stuff, maybe he can resume work on el hazard?

Devil's advocate question:
What's missing from El Hazard, other than how the reunion with Ifurita occurred>

ahh i see thanks :D hmm i dunno, i thought that makoto would had taken ifurita back to el hazard when he came for her , but in the end credits it seemed that they stayed with everyone else to makoto's world. well i guess thats fine so everyone could explore his world. well i dont really know :heh:

whats missing from el hazard? you already stated the biggest one. and judging by the end of ova 1, makoto sure took his time. so they can probably make more side-stories etc. and introduce new characters like fujisawa and miz's baby

i was kinda interested that if makoto and others went back home then that meant they lost there abilites, like makoto's kings touch, fujisawa's strentgh etc... oh well

Personally I like El Hazard better than Tenchi. Makoto and company just seem more interesting to me than the Tenchi cast

Yeah,
I had some visitors over and they had a blast watching El Hazard OVA 1. They weren't all that interested in Tenchi Muyo. It took too long for things to get going for them...

After watching more of Tenchi and then thinking back to El Hazard, I think I like El Hazard better. Tenchi Muyo! was great, but since each series has little or nothing to do with the previous one, it sort of diminishes the generally feeling for me.
It seems like El Hazard has, among other things, better character development, and slightly quirkier characters. The girls of Tenchi, for example, each have a pretty standard personality and stick to it from beginning to end.

well i think the characters were better designed and thought up in el hazard, plus not every female was after makoto, like in tenchi. also i kinda like character personalities better than in tenchi, they got kinda annoying :D

Undoubtidly El-Hazzard would win my vote..as you said once you see tenchi for a while it gets dull. EL_Hazzard on the other hand is just good entertainment...i have seen all 3 series....and they are all good...

ah very true, someone ends up being together :D thats what made it better
Have to say el-hazard is better. Tenchi Muyo was good but the rest really were not great.

Hmmm...Tenchi...I can watch it, excellent dubbing but it just leave me cold though.
I personally like El Hazard the most because of the quirky character development. I have watched it several times - funny and entertaining.

Tenchi Muyo! was the orignal ground breaker, The creators took that part and improved it into El-Hazard...
Jinnai is sooo lovable too! :D

You did not just post this question...did you?
I mean come on...................
I loved Tenchi even though it was cut like hell but I kept faith that in the end SOMETHING would happen but....alas nothing.........
El Hazard wins by a land slide for a sweet ass ending to the Magnificent World eddition.:o

Oh wow i just found out that i already posted my response :o
Doopy me :p
but one other thing...about the spin offs u were talking about ..you ment El Hazard 2 right....cause there was a part 2 you know...or have i already made myself look like a fool enough?
After finishing watching El Hazard on the International Channel, I would have to say Tenchi is better. I'm only comparing Tenchi Universe to El Hazard: The Wanderers because both are TV series with 26 episodes. I'm not going to compare the Tenchi's TV series to El Hazard's OVA or vice versa. Another reason is that I have never seen Tenchi OVA's.
Tenchi Universe just seems more memorable to me. The music and the humor really stands out for me with Tenchi while El Hazard, not as much. For both series, the beginning episodes were, for the most part, pretty pointless but I enjoyed watching the Tenchi episodes more. It is really towards the end were the plot picks up for both shows but again, I enjoyed the Tenchi episodes more.
As for the animation, I never really could tell between good and bad animation unless it is very apparent. In this case, both look about the same to me.
el hazard definately, more lesbians.
