A bunch of ex sunrise employees have now produced an anime series.

Their previous projects were Escaflowne A girl In Gaia and Cowboy Bebop Knockin On Heaven's Door Movies.

The opening song (Hemisphere) is sung by Maaya Sakamoto and is the no1 Singles Pre-order on CDJapan. She also voices the main female character and her previous roles were as Hitomi from escaflowne and Leaf from Record Of Lodoss War tV. She also did the opening themes for them too.

Yoko Kanno does the music for this anime.

The anime is called RahXephon and it's website is

www.rahxephon.com/index.html

Your's truly has not checked this out yet but with the people behind this and their previous experience that shall change shortly.

Ep's 1-2 have been fansubbed and it's a mecha anime too

hope someone gets to see this if I don't

Looks interesting. With those credentials behind it, my hopes are high.

I loved the Bebop movie, it was an excellent companion to an already kick-ass series. It did not disappoint.

I was less enthusiastic about the Escaflowne movie because it was such a drastic departure from the series. I still liked it though.

Yes their creditials are excellent but it will be interesting to see what they can do with something they have created by themselves instead of taking an existing anime and changing it around (escaflowne) or making an movie that felt like an extended ep (one of the best though) ala bebop.

I've been waiting a while to hear something more from Bones. This should be interesting. I look forward to hearing more about it.

very interesting indeed.. i'm not usually one for mech anime, as they usually are a large disappointment of the same recycled crap. but this one certainly looks interesting.

thanks for sharing.

I don't like that mecha. However, CB and Esca flowne movies with Yoko behind them sure makes for some strong support...

I KNOW! THE CB CREW IS OFF TO CATCH HITOMI FOR ZAIBACH.

You only crediting these people with the Bebop movie implies that they did not work on the series, so are you telling me that completely different crews did the bebop movie and the TV series? That looks highly doubtful to me. And if the TV crew did work on the movie (I'm guessing they did), then what role did these people play in the production?

In any case... the mecha doesn't look too great. Then again, I said that about Escaflowne too, when I first saw it. Time will tell.

no, the same people did all 4 productions. The initial poster was mistaken.

Looks great :D

Just saw the first episode today. Kinda enigmatic, but it seems to have a lot of potential. Eva-esque in that you don't know what's going on in the beginning. Plus there's other Eva-like things in it: the blue mecha looks like Eva-00, Mishima reminded me of Asuka in the yellow dress (appearance only), the heavy government involvement, and the little "All's right with the world" comment in the beggining. I'm not saying it's an Eva imitation, especially after only watching the first ep. Anyways, it definitely has a lot of potential to be good.

I've also watched Ep one 2 hours ago (ep two this monday) and I think your trying to say it could be the next eva/escaflowne in the mecha genre.

From ep one it has the potential and torgan (you might see that name in the credits of the fansubbers) says it still unclear whats going on after ep two.

Interesting that also like escaflowne the first ep has the intro not shown on purpose. I can't wait for ep two so I can see the intro which i have heard is very very good.

Kodachi and Sheex

A HQA and ANBU coproduction of this new series by the people that did Cowboy Bebop and the Escaflowne movie

Don't shoot the messenger and I believe that the escaflowne movie had a different director than the escaflowne series sheex as you should very well know. Also i doubt it would be the whole team but sections of it and the movies of escaflowne and bebop were completed after the bebop tv series.

Just seen the first two episode yesterday and I am ready for another dissapointment. It looks good and interesting, but its the same concept as usual. At first I thought they had a nice mecha design(unconventional) and then they introduce the main mecha and it is the textbook example of conventional mecha, kind of a let down.

i still haven't seen the main mecha yet(apart from like 2 seconds in the next ep preview)........just a question does it transform?

don't forget evaganlion (the mecha show that set the standard according to ppl on this board....) was just about a monster of the week show for a long time.

With 24 eps to go something can happen

I saw ep two today. The intro wasn't bad. The opening and ending songs are definitely anomalies to the usually upbeat and happy anime songs. Still don't know what the hell is going on. The mood is still very mysterious and somber, for lack of a better word. I can't really say that it's going to be a typical mecha since it's only been two eps.

Westlo: No, the mech doesn't transform.

Well i've watched ep 2 and it is still quite weird

so many questions to answer in this anime

Also if you have ep 3 rewatch the first sequence of ep one and look closely theirs suppose to be two obvous clues as to whats going on but you have to have seen ep 3 to get it.
