Were the Angels sent from God???

IMO, and this might sound strange, I believe that they exist outside of the physical world and live in another plane of existence. I don't think they were sent by god, but I believe it was destined that only lifeform would live to inhabit the universe and fate played its hand and the winner at the end was humankind.

I will only state a few things, I dont believe in God, many people don't but that is not an excuse to remove the hand of God in EVA. The idea of God is such a strong idea, in all relgions and with the extensive amount of Research Anno put in, I disbelieve he would leave out something so basic, to all relgions. Every thing spoken about, the wandering Jew, Angels, Lance of Loginus, Crucifitions, Tree of Knowledge, Adam, Eve, Genesis and all the other relgious symbols which refer to story which involve God, I cannot begin to understand why Anno would include all this and not put God in his place. Look at the Nerv Slogan, "God in his Heaven all right with the World".

And Also;

All references are made refering to God, symbols of his son being crucified, references to storys which involve God, and it is above and beyond me the concept that God is not involved.

They weren't send by God to the Earth... they just came because they had that task to do... to return to Adam and Lillith... to extend their existance to the eternity...

Well basing this on the story line they should come from God. It was written in the Dead Sea Manuscripts that God would send his angels. Someone mentioned that they were just ment to come down and merge weith Adam or Lilith. Well were do Adam and Lilith come from? Technically God. I would say that they are sent by "God" however yopu concieve him to be and that there really isn't any reason to think they come from another origin.

I don't think that the Angels were searching for Lilith because Karou thought that Lilith was Adam untill he looked really close, and discovered that Adam was Lilith.

If I can recall, someone wrote something about Nerv or something getting Lilith to smell like Adam. Not sure who though

Well what i originally intended was that both Adam and Lilith have a 'pull' (which i called smell) to the lesser angels, however NERV covered up Liliths 'smell' with that of Adam. in order to 'trick' them

I said it before and say it again, it has nothing to do with smell as we know it, it was just the best thing i could think of to describe it at the time.

The fact that Lilith doesn't have her soul anyway would also help in masquerading her/it.

Good point Gobi and Ath. Anyway if Kaoru had the soul of an angel, couldn't he merge with the angelic body of Lilith? I don't mean to change the topic but he tells Shinji to kill him because he seems to find humanity to be worth it...

yes, he could - Seele was actually counting on him to merge with lilith and cause third impact - unfortunately that does not happen, and you know the rest! =)
