Well the unforunate side effect of not having a wide variety of anime rentals nor any anime clubs in your area does come into play here… Anime series I want to see… But don't have the budget to buy… (Also what am I gonna do if I don't like it?) What type of catagory is this anime? Humor? Adventure? Fantasy? And what series should I get?

So I was wondering what the main story line was and your rating in the following catagories… A (1 thru 10) scoreing list…

Storyline:

Animation style:

Characters:

Emotions(How much does it pull you into the story?):

Fan Service…(;)):

its a romantic comedy-fantasy-adventure, its kinda like tenchi but more of fantasy, and its better (in my opinion)

the main story is a group of students and their teacher get transported to the world of El Hazard. then one of the students, makoto tries and researches for a way to get back to earth. thats basically it in a nutshell, but there is a lot more foundation to it that you have to see for yourself

Storyline: 10

Animation style: 10

Characters: 10 (theres lesbians :heh:

Emotions(How much does it pull you into the story?): 10 (o yeah best story ever and best ending <---the endng to OVA 1)

Fan Service…(;)): 10 (i know of 2 episodes that are devoted just to the nudity, especially the one in the Alternative World (tv series) in which they actually give some small orgasms

Anything significently different in the OVA/OAV's and the TV series?

Also a new catagory, "Music"

the OVA 2 and the second tv series (Alternative world) continue the storyline of OVA 1 while TV series 1 (the wanderers) is a parallel universe and a re-telling of the ova's.

music, overall id give a 9/10

Plus there is a Wanderers kid-friendly re-write of the storyline, but many folks feel this is inferior to the original storyline. Like Tenchi, it's characters that look similar in a different storyline.

BK, if youre worried about getting the series out of order, just buy the Magnifecent World dvd boxset which retails for $126 (suncoast price, you can get it for as low as $96 on some place online)

well in that case, the magnifecent world 1 and 2 are labeled just "The Magnifecent World" (im not sure about MW 2 though) and then Alternative world is labeled in the box so you have nothing to worry (wait...is AW even released on video?)

btw, theres also the wanderers vhs box set

I'm still a little confused about the entire series line…

Their was first the OVA/OAV… Which then was turned into a TV series… Which spawned another OVA/OAV, which created another TV series?

re: series order confusion.

I've learned to accept that each story "theme" can have its own order when it comes to OVA/TV/movies/manga

Don't know how the manga fits in. Someone else will have to fit that in. But, the anime goes:

(1) OVA 1 Magnificent World (the best of all El Hazard)
(2) OVA 2 Magnificent World 2
(3) TV series Alternative World, but it has the "feel" of an OVA
(4) Wanderers TV series (re-write of story, much more kid friendly)

The Wanderers series sticks out most than any other. It has a very young princess Rune and Ifurita has dark hair (among other attributes.)

The Alternative World is by far the naughtiest and is in a much more industrialized world where the eye of God is in pieces which are used as farm colonies.

Amazon has it at http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00003CWHI/ref=cm_mp_etc/103-3679200-8571007

My review there states:

"Cautions: This series is the most adult of any of the El Hazard series. Lots of sexual inuendo like a sitcom, but nothing really happens, until the last episode features a "fan service" purification ritual with lesbian groping. Mostly harmless silliness, but some may wish to skip the last episode."
