*Titled Knight of Lodoss
*Inherits a kingdom after the current king dies
*Hot elven chick loves him

All this for someone who still can't swing a sword, who is assumed to be possibly gay for 1/2 the series, and is just annoying ^^

Oh, and I apoligize if it seems like I'm making assumptions, I know he was still caught up in that whole knighthood idealism stuff when Deed tries to hit on him, but come on, must you stare at another MAN when DEEDLIT is trying to get your attention? Plus, I know he gets better with his sword "skills" but he just doesn't have the respectable combat skills of say, Ashram.

That's one thing I noticed about anime character in general. The less they try,the more they succeed

Except that in the TV series, merely 5 years later, he not only mastered his swordsmanships, he is one of the best swordsmen in lodoss.

an additional 10 years down the line, he is one of the best swordsmen in the world, only bettered by Kashue and Ashram.

So in other words:

*Titled Knight of Lodoss
*Inherits a kingdom after a king dies
* Hot Elven Chick Loves him
* Is one of the greatest swordsman in the world.

So basically he is an honored legendary swordsman who will later be king with his "looks like 20 till he's decomposed to dust elven wife..."

I just find this messed up when people like Ashram get the shaft...

"Get the Shaft?" Nani?

I think Ashram made out quite well. He's got Pirotess alive and well by his side. He's got the loyal remnants of the Marmo Empire traveling by his side in an effort to explore new lands and discover a new place to found a better kingdom, and has officially recognized that Emperor Beld's dream was a faulty one and that he must instead improve upon it. He and Parn, at the end of the TV series, recognized each other as two heroes with different ways of achieving their goals, no longer as enemies.

So while Parn has the Hot High Elf, Great sword skills, and a future kingship,

Ashram has a hot dark elf, nearly unmatched sword skills, and IS a king.

Well, he does go through some problems when they get to Crystania, but hey, all in the life of a true adventurer.

Well, yeah, but I'm a pessimistic bas.... uh.... nevermind...

The way I see it, he loses his mentor and friend in the war, and upon taking up his sword and position, Marmo gets through a bloodshed that ends in their homeland being decimated and their exile. A cocky peasant boy somehow finally matchs swords skills with him in their last duel, and he has the best time ever in Crystania.

But then again, yours is the traditional view, and I'm not saying it's wrong. Like I said before, I'm a pessimistic -------. ;)

I wouldn't call myself an Optimist, but I have some fundamental problems with pessimism.

I don't understand why people want to spend so much time acknowledging and analyzing the bad parts of life when its not going to make the world better, nor will it make the bad parts of life go away.

Pessimism is only good in relatively small amounts, serving as a reminder to your conscience that the world isn't perfect, that people aren't perfect, and that you yourself aren't perfect.

At least that's my opinion.

Doesn't being pessimistic w/ a little bit of optimism or being optimistic with a little bit of pessimism serve the same purpose in the end?

Too much optimism leaves you dreaming of fantasies that cannnot exist without being able to deal with reality.

Likewise, moping about how crappy the world is isn't gonna get anything done ether. You can lean ether way, but you have to realize that a combination is required to change anything.

The two serve to balance each other like the forces of light and darkness in Lodoss. (Heh, how'd I turn this suddenly back there?)

That's why I said I wouldn't call myself an optimist. I'd say maybe I'm 2/3 Optimist and 1/3 Pessimist.

I will neither dwell on the good or the bad parts of life, merely recognize both of them and in the end, have come to the conclusion that I like my life.
