I'm curious about what everyone's favorite RK episodes/story arcs are.

I really enjoyed the 2 episode thing where Sanosuke got together with his Sekihou Tai buddy to overthrow the government and fought Kenshin again. I really liked the fight between Kenshin and Sano, the party scene was also really funny where everybody was drunk.
Anything from the Shishio/Kyoto Arc is really cool too.

Well, I have only gotten to see the first couple episodes, but I really liked the second one. ^^

Jin-e was the best! . . . yeah right :)
I've only seen up to around episode 28 or so, but I liked the party (mentioned above) and the fight with Saitoh was cool too. I wanna see more of the series though :(

Same here! ^^ On the "see more," that is.

well, it depends, if your one who watches the fight scenes, the peak of RRK would have to be the "flaming mummy" or Shishio saga, although the first battle of Kenshin with Shougo is a real good one - the battle with Saito was also good - one of the last good fights where he becomes Hitoriki.

as for story, i dont think putting a spoiler would be good no?

i think the best episode was also the fight with shisho. you could see kenshin laying it on him but shisho just kept on getting back up ready to bust his up. the one when he busted up cho was ok, cause it was a first fight without his sword.

ryezen
14-07-00, 02:26 PM
though he gains a new and more powerful one which allowed him to beat cho

Hehe, I don't think I'm anywhere near you two. ^^ I'm only at ep 6. ^^

tekblade

yeah he did get the new sword and also hehe only on episode 6. did you even see the fight with jin-e yet?

huuu..I, as well, luv 'da party scene-Sano rocks! ^..^
Hmm..but I have to say the OVAs really made me wanna watch 'em over an' over again...*Wai! Li'l Enishi!*
I also love 'da movie...guuu...*of course, th' moonlight slash sequence in th' bamboo (wazzat clear..?) was repeated almost too much..*
I't kinda difficult to say really my fav episode of RK...@.@
..so, in other words, I jus' wandered around in a pointless li'l circle, here...
..oh, look, Enishi..wahaha..

I've seen the fight with Jin-E. That was cool! ^^

I then skipped ep seven (the show right after the fight with Jin-E) and went straight to episode eight, which I am attempting to watch while writing this. ^^

looks like u really need some catching up to do!
HAPPY VIEWING!!! :D

q: is Jin-E the leader of the special police carrying japanese swords? the one in the green uniform?

Tamachan
15-07-00, 07:32 AM
No, Jin-E is the one with the chinese hat who looks like a Gambit rip-off. Actually, he is a Gambit rip-off, the creator of kenshin is a big american comics fan. Kenshin's master's cape is a direct take from Spawn, and in the Revenge arc in the manga there is a guy who is a copy of Apocalypse ^^;

ryezen
15-07-00, 07:37 AM
well, since ive only got to the ep where kenshin fights the guy in the green outfit (name not important enough to remember), i'll be refreshed soon enough next week!

ryezen
19-07-00, 08:55 AM
ok! i've finally got to the Jin-E part! he just kidnapped Kaoru!

ohhhhh!!! now i remember him! dis is gonna be cool!!!! first battle as the Battousai! --- those eyes!!! i cant wait to see them

hmmm... y'know what! i think im gonna change my position on the dubbed voices! - what thier showing right now is kinda different from what i first saw :( dont tell me, how many versions of the english dubbed are there anyway? or are the voices of the earlier eps as bad as the animation?

Tamachan
19-07-00, 09:45 AM
The Samurai X dub which is shown in Asia was a kind of test dub put out by Sony before the rights for Kenshin were picked up in the West by Mediablasters/ADV. It was generally panned by most who saw it as well as the vile choice of "samurai X" as the name for the series ^^;;;

I think the first Mediablasters volume is coming out this month...they have retained the "samurai X" tag for the dub, but no word on whether they used the same voice actors as well...ugh.

Let's see ... Now I'm at the time when the Kenshin Gumi is trying to rescue Megumi-sama. He's fighting that main leader guy right now. And getting his but kicked, I might add.

Yuusuke

Well, since this thread has been 'bumped up' a bit, I suppose I'll post.
I've just gotten some new eps (31-57), watched them, very good (some problems in picture sometimes though). Well, anyways.
Some'a my new favorite scenes (fights, etc).

I'll definately add the fight between Kenshin and Misao-chan to my list'o favorites, it's just too funny the way it goes.

Um. . .next, most any scene that it's shown with Hiko Seijuro (Kenshin's master). Just very funny, and Hiko is too cool (heheh, with the girls around him yelling "Hiko-sama")

The fight between Soujiro and Kenshin was really great too. I really liked that one too, not really sure why though.

And, the second fight of Kenshin and Shinomori Aoshi. Not really the fight itself, but the things that they said during the fight.

Just one thing that got me really mad. The episodes I got ended just before the fight with Shishio

Ko, how was the ending of the Aoshi-Kenshin match?

Yuusuke, too bad! anyway, atleast you'll be more exited to watch the main event!

as for the Kenshin-Soujiro match, i have to agree with you - fight scenes and story.

one question though, if i remember correctly, Kenshin says to Soujiro "how do you expect to do a successful Sun Ten Satsu with your mind in conflict?" then you know what happens (trying to avoid spoiler) - so did Soujiro perform a perfect Sun Ten Satsu or not?

Yuusuke
24-07-00, 10:28 PM
Well, I don't mind spoiling, cause I don't know if it'd be counted as that.
I'll hafta rewatch that (and I will be rewatching those eps, and SMJ), but, I don't remember them saying anything about a perfect Shun Ten Satsu. Just that Kenshin asked if Soujiro could pull the move off with his emotions in turmoil. Probably one'a those fansub things (if you got eps fansubbed, as the translations always/usually vary).
Heh, I'll hopefully be getting Kenshin eps (whatever-whatever, Shishio match).

Ooo, it was good! Kinda sad, though ...
My friend and I had an early ending to a Kenshin marathon, and we finished the episode with that Sumo Wrestler. ^^ I liked that ep, it was funny.

>>>well, the spoiling was for those who hadnt seen RRK and plan to see it... as for Kenshin's question well what i originally posted was from memory. what i was getting at was if Soujiro had performend a perfect Shun Ten Satsu against a perfect Amakakeru Ryu No Hirameki, would the effect of the match be reversed?

Ko,
"Ooo, it was good! Kinda sad, though ...

>>>sumo wrestler? y'mean the sumo wrestler who belongs to Shishio's grp? is that the ep where Kaoru and gang battle the 10 swords?

Ko Hakaisha
25-07-00, 02:39 PM
Um ... Don't think so. It's the episode where Kaoru starts training the Sumo Wrestler that's always made fun of. Then he challenges the grand champ to a fight and he wins. [blink]

ryezen
26-07-00, 12:20 AM
ah! ok , now i remember that, the sumo wrestler was kicked out of his dojo right! and so Kaoru takes him in, the champ on the otherhand is this big guy (typical RRK villian) with a lot of followers...

My favourite episode has to be with SAnosuke lost in the Forest and meets up with The monk. That gives memories... My second favourite has to be Sanosuke with the Lost dog Notaro.

tekblade
02-08-00, 02:15 PM
i remember that episode, its when sano lerans that technique. his right hand can smash a rock to pieces and stuff. too bad he busted his hand when he was fighting shisho.

ryezen
02-08-00, 02:21 PM
hehe...

not only does Sano learn that technique, he also gains the necessary skills to copy/learn another technique - one w/c can cut you with just the air generated by the force of your punch - what was the name of that again? he copies it from Souzo from Shougo saga

tekblade
02-08-00, 02:35 PM
yeah i remember that. remeber when he fought that guy (he was with a femal preist whats her name, but her brother is supposed to be gods son and knows the hiten mitsurigi ryu) and when he fought him he was surprised that he could use the same technique has him

ryezen
02-08-00, 02:58 PM
hehe... loved those parts especially when Shougo and Kenshin first fought - one question though, if kenshin used the amakakeru ryu no hirameki on Shougo's kuzu ryu sen, would he have won?

tekblade
02-08-00, 03:03 PM
hmmmm i dont know. but wasnt it that shougo didnt master it cause his uncle said that he was using his technique for the wrong purpose or something? :heh: i dunno i dont remeber too well. but i guess kenshin would had one if he used iton him.

ryezen
02-08-00, 03:16 PM
hmmm... i think shougo knows how to use amakakeru ryu no hirameki. remember when kenshin and hiko were talking about him, hiko says that shougo's master tried to stop him by using a kuzu ryu sen but lost. so kenshin says "lost to ____'s kuzu ryu sen... then this only means he has learned the sucession technique - amakakeru ryu no hirameki" (or something like that"

tekblade
02-08-00, 04:21 PM
hmmmm i have to look into that. looks like im gunna have to watch that episode again. but i did like how he blinded kenshin. :D

Ko Hakaisha

Way past me! ^^ I'm in the middle of the story arc with the rich kid who wants to learn his father's budo.

tekblade
02-08-00, 11:40 PM
oh yeah i remeber that episode. the rich kid does come back later on though. its funny how yahiko and them fight all the time.

Boltarion
03-08-00, 12:03 AM
Yeah, that's a cool episode. Then the kid follows some guy who wants to overthrow the Meiji government (Your average RRK villain). Those were pretty good episodes.

tekblade
03-08-00, 12:06 AM
its funny how almost all the villians somehow wanna get rid of the government.

Boltarion
03-08-00, 12:14 AM
You can't really blame them, though. All the ex-samurais and warriors are totally out of jobs. Fighting is all they know, so they can either become a policeman for the government they hate, become outlaws(assassins, bandits, etc.) or just starve.

tekblade
03-08-00, 12:18 AM
hehe thats true :D

Ko Hakaisha
03-08-00, 12:51 AM
Poor guys ... maybe we should put them outta their misery.

ryezen
03-08-00, 01:19 AM
kenshin was in a position to do so, but his no killing attitude was in the way - reminds me of anothr quote:

"he who does not kill only makes stronger" - this is shown throughout the series.

Boltarion
03-08-00, 01:24 AM
Yeah, sometimes when he didn't kill a guy he'd just make them angrier and they'd come back for revenge later. And they'd be tougher because they have so much hate and anger towards Kenshin.

ryezen
03-08-00, 01:30 AM
but kenshin somehow gets to beat them, and proves that "no matter how strong you become a greater power there will always be"

Boltarion
03-08-00, 01:32 AM
That's one thing that I really liked about Kenshin, they put the morals and lessons into the stories without them getting really annoying and preachy.

ryezen
03-08-00, 01:39 AM
should that remind me of something? so exactly what anime does that? - the preachy thing?

Boltarion
03-08-00, 01:44 AM
The first pokemon movie was like that at the end. It was all about "Stop fighting, bla bla bla...". Sailor Moon was like that sometimes, too. Especially when they had that "Sailor Moon Says" thing at the end of each episode.

ryezen
03-08-00, 01:46 AM
well, lucky me, i dont watch Sailormoon and Pokemon :D

Boltarion
03-08-00, 01:49 AM
Neither do I. I saw the pokemon movie out of curiousity (It really sucked, most people walked out of the movie like halfway through) and I've just seen Sailormoon on cartoon network. I usually try to watch something that requires me to think.

ryezen
03-08-00, 01:53 AM
curiosity eh? the thought never (oh really? :confused2 ) came to my mind!

Ko Hakaisha
03-08-00, 02:11 AM
Yeah. ^^ And Kenshin is also funny, which helps you sit through some of the more preachy parts (although they are few). You always know anothe funny part is coming up.

tekblade
03-08-00, 02:32 PM
but sometimes the other characters, youll able to tell its gunna be a funny part, like when sano was loosing money playing that game ( you guess odd or even with two dice) he starts choking kenshin and stuff. i think its the episode when they meet megumi for the first time.

Boltarion
03-08-00, 04:40 PM
Yeah, I think it is. Because then Sano finds out his friend died from Opium and stuff. Then he finds out Megumi sold it too him.

ryezen
04-08-00, 12:59 PM
black knights eh? well ive seen that ep/storyline - heck, ive finished the whole series!

anyway about that particular storyline/saga, remember the part where Sano plays a game with the Swedish (or was he German?) doctor, and he was loosing? hehe, i cant forget how Sano looked when the doctor would paint his face whenever he lost

tekblade
04-08-00, 02:10 PM
yeah i remember that part. that german doctor beat him so many times i felt sorry for sano. but its really funny when sano has like animals names for the ppl in rk. like megumi is a fox, misao is a weasle and i forgot what karou was.

ryezen

I haven't gotten to see those parts yet, though ... :(

Speaking of Sano violently choking a tea-drinking Kenshin ... ^^ http://www.geocities.com/~sdninjaeek/duh3.jpg I just happened to look at this while reading this thread. One of those "speak of the devil!" moments. ^^
