PMs as at 24/2/02: forum rules apply

As at Feb 24, 2002 private messages on Animeboards.com will officiall fall under the forum rules set out at http://animeboards.com/rules.php

So if you abuse or personally attack a forum member via pms you will be warned and can be banned. For this to work the victim of the abuse must do the following to prove their case:

1. Keep the pm in their inbox - DO NOT delete it!
2. Contact me and only me via email or pm giving me permission to login into your member account to read and see for myself the offending pms you received.
3. You must tell me your password to login as I don't know your password since everything in AB's database is one-way MD5 encrypted (meaning no way to decrypt and view passwords)
4. After i view the evidence, i'll take the appropriate action on the offending party and then the member can reset his member accounts password using the forgot password url here http://animeboards.com/member.php?s=&action=lostpw

Following notes:

PM limits for each member have been increased to 9999 so there is less of a need to delete pms.
Forum rules will/have been updated to reflect this outlined changes i mentioned in this thread.. please re-read the rules here http://animeboards.com/rules.php

okay... thats good you set up a rule.. but still I think it should be liek 1000 or less.... its REALLY going to lag down the server

So let's say I was sending links to copyrighted files over PMs or discussing trading of anime. Can I now be banned if someone tattles on me?

I guess I really need to make decisions about who I can trust now...

I guess I really need to make decisions about who I can trust now... well even before this thread, generally any means of using AB to distribute copyright material would of been prohibited anyway.. nothing's changed really

of course you need proof which i can see for myself before action is taken.

i agree with absix, althoh noone will have 9999 pms (execpt mabye u E2k) u should make it like 1 or 2 thousand pm limit to keep server lag down

pms take up an average 0.2kb per private message so it isn't that much really

I don't see how the limit affects server lag but in terms of space, they don't take up much...
