"For all you tokyo city cops out there heres some news on Burn up X. This news is from an e-mail from Tiffany Grant (voice of Maki):
I have just confirmed that ADV has recast the role of Maki in the
Burn Up Excess series. I don't know if any of you are familiar with
Burn Up! or Burn Up W!, but I was the original English voice actor
for the role of Maki in both shows.
Recording recently wrapped at a studio in LA that ADV farmed the
project out to and, after a year of trying to get an answer, I have
the definitive answer. I was never even asked about doing the part
at all.
Now, it is entirely possible that you don't really mind, and that
those of you who are interested in the show will probably buy it
anyway. Since it is the case that our names do not appear on the
box, I just thought some of you may want to know that I did not work
on this project so you know what you are getting.
Yes, Amanda Winn Lee and Jason Lee did reprise their roles of Rio &
Yuji. Everyone else (including Kimberly Yates who WAS Lillica) has
been recast."
Well there you have it.
Makes you wonder what the new voices will be like. But if Nanvel isn't cute sounding, I'm going to storm ADV's head office.
Plus I think it spoils a series if they change the voices halfway through.
But on the upside, this means they have finished the voice acting. So they'll be releasing it soon. (For those of you who bought the Right Stuf, Burn Up W DVD and Rio t-shirt special. ADV will send you out a postcard in advance of Burn Up Excess's release and give you special offers and additional info. So you'll know ahead of everyone)
Plus Madman have said Burn Up Excess is an upcoming release.
