How was boogiepop created?

YES, how did Boogiepop came to be? I just dont get it. I remember her explaining that she saw Kuroda's dying body, took his coat, wore it and became boogiepop from that day on... huh?

Boogiepop Phantom describes that 'she' was born along with the 'death' of Echoes [if i recall correctly]. she mentions picking up the puwaffwii and head wear... which is when she was 'born'... then she claims she took the face of Manticore [or perhaps rather Echoes, Manticore's true being - as they describe Manticore as a copy of Echoes :cool:].

meanwhile, Boogiepop also claims to have been born from the {same?} puwaffwii and hat. ----, i'm rambling...

-Boogiepop is the personification of 'echoes' death. I don't know about this... I think Echoes 'conciousness' or 'being' was transferred to Touka the moment she wore the puwaffwii and head wear. What was the puwaffwee and head wear and how did Kuroda get a hold of it?

-Boogiepop Phantom was originally a manticore herself and is a copy of boogiepop.

Toka was in the perfectual hospital for a bit... so she had to've been evolved. Maybe a reaction with her power and the cloak... whatever the hell it's called. cause if I'm not mistaken, she became boogiepop before the pillar of light.

and what's with the roof top scene??? I noticed Echos on the ground turning into the pillar... Shinbe (or whatever his name is) running to the light... Boogiepop or phantom... whatever... on a ledge with someone (Toka???) being choaked by her rope. and there were others standing around

i too, believe Toka was Boogiepop before the light pillar. i believe when she was "possessed by the fox spirit" she was really possessed by DEATH - Boogiepop.

i believe it was Boogiepop {Toka} on the ledge killing the original Manticore {Minako - before she became Boogiepop Phantom}.. it's not that Boogiepop Phantom was a Manticore. there is one Manticore. Minako was the host for that Manticore before it was killed and moved on to Saotome.

the question is, was touka boogiepop BEFORE she was admitted to the perfectual hospital? She mentioned that she was admitted due tot he fox spirit around DVD 2, though though boogiepop was actually born the night she put the cloak on from the dying Kuroda.

Any theories what the fox spirit might be?

i believe it is Vol.8 [when we see Nagi's side of what happened with Hasashi]... gives me reason to suggest that Nagi was Boogiepop before Toka.

well, Boogiepop Phantom herself says "..you killed Manticore..."

we see Boogiepop standing on a ledge killing Minako.
we see Saotome leaping into the pillar of light which is surrounding Echoes.


Saotome is there, perhaps, because he was interested in Minako and noticed something weird about her {she is Manticore}.. Boogiepop is there to kill Echoes and Manticore. Echoes takes the body of Manaka {thus bringing her back to life}, Manticore takes the form of Saotome {thus bringing him back to 'life' - as Manticore is only Echoes phantom}.

so... the question now, is where does Boogiepop Phantom find her piwafwi and cap? she claims that she randomly chose a face, and just by chance chose that of Manticore. so then, if 5 years ago, it shows Toka finding her piwafwi from Kuroda... how is it Nagi becomes Boogiepop for the 'one month ago' scene, and after that pillar of light, it becomes Toka again?

damn, i think i just confused myself more if anything with these observations.

The Boogiepop at the light event was not Nagi. It was Toka.

Nagi was there however- she was the one that made the cut on Echoes/Kuroda's head just before his memories scattered as light.

We know this because in Episode 11, when the dead Manaka is flooded with Echoes' rays, she sees an "echoes-eye-view" of the light event- which starts with a first-person view of getting slashed in the face by Nagi !

i don't know, i recall it showing BOOGEIPOP cut off KURODA's head. ECHOES' head still remains when we see the pillar of light scene.

i'm not denying the possibility of your theory though... it just still doesn't explain BOOGIEPOP PHANTOM saying "you killed Manticore" to NAGI {vol.8}.

There are two 'Boogiepop flashbacks' in ep11. One is the 'echoes-eye-view' of the light event, which is shown around Manaka's resurrection, before the episode's commercial break. After the break, we have the second flashback when Boogiepop is chasing Manaka. We see flashes of the major things Boogiepop has done.

It is NOT Kuroda's head that she cuts off with her dart-whip.

No, the part you are referring to shows Toka (as Boogiepop) cutting off *Doctor Kisugi's* snarling head five years ago. I.E Boogiepop killed the serial killer, as hinted in a rapid-fire memory in episode 6...

The same flash in ep6 shows that Nagi was there too, though. Nagi having been there at the light event too, It seems that Nagi and Boogiepop work together sometimes (this is also hinted at school scenes at the very end of ep12). Nagi was not Boogiepop within the timeframe of the show, but possibly earlier.

Boogiepop Phantom says Nagi took down the Manticore since NAGI forced Echoes to escape Kuroda's body by stabbing him, resulting in a column of light that scattered the Manticore. The Manticore's host, Minako, was meanwhile held in place by Boogiepop.

We know that Echoes/Kuroda was slashed in the face because in ep11 we notice his head is bleeding. The 'echoes-eye' view shows that this was Nagi's doing. He sees Nagi with a knife, then Minako/Manticore being strangled, then Boogiepop in the distance.

This is why Boogiepop Phantom looks midway between Minako and Nagi. As told in ep.8 she couldn't see her original very clearly: she becomes an amalgam of the three things echoes saw.

NOTE: Boogiepop Phantom is NOT echoes. But she and the Manticre are etched into echoes' light which creates the city's electromagnetic aurora.
