Yes, it's true, believe it or not, there are some people that don't like Inuyasha. Read this if you haven't already.

So, what do you like about Inuyasha. What makes this series seem so great to you(if it does?)
For me, it's the romance, the great characters, the awesome music and the storyline just seems epic. Like a moder legend or fairytail that you're watching unfold day by day. Oh, and the kick ass fights are definitely a plus.
I don't like Inu Yasha. The whole concept of a school girl going to another world full of 'monsters' and people with special powers has been done so many times before. And, Inu Yasha doesn't even do it well. The plot is boring, the characters plain an d the animation is sub-par. The only thing I like about it is the music, but even that doesn't do much.

::shrugs:: That's your cup of tea.
I like Inuyasha. I like the setting of the story, I like the animation (especially since the animators did a really good job staying true to Rumiko Takahashi's artwork), I like the music, I like the character development.... The filler episodes are fun, and the plot episodes are really great. In all, I think it's a great anime.
And that's your cup..............

And this is my cup of Shippo's herbal tea:

Mmmm tasty!
The animation in some episodes is poorer than the rest though. Around episode 50, I was hoping for more plot development too. But still, I like it.

Glad we're all happy then. ::toasts with cup of herbal:: Yay for opinions!
Well, i like Inuyasha this far, i have recently started watching it and haven't really gotten that far in the series yet...but so far i really like it.
And i like the characters and the animation, especially Inuyasha himself..^^
And well, i can't say too much about the series yet, but i do hope it'll get even better^_^

Inu-Yasha is one of my favorite animes at the moment... memorable characters, great animation and music, cool fights, an all around fun anime :)

It's with the laughs...basically it, it's funny, comical, aventurous...very very great! BOO to those people who don't like it! :D

You should have expected the series to be long. It's Takahashi after all. Still, I can understand what you're saying, it's just I'm willing to wait a long time for plot development. Not every drama should be like Fushigi Yuugi with a cliffhanger every episode.

I doubt they could actually do this anime short without leaving fans with that "ahhhh we've been cheated," feeling. Its slowly unfolds, although some episodes people may consider filler-ish, they do bring about points and characterizations. Alot of the relations are taking time, Inu Yasha's and Kagome's because a certain dead and deeply psychotic b****, and Miroku and Sango because their own hang-ups. Personally I think the whole series has a unique charm that sorta fits in with shounen-ish type anime's like Rurouni Kenshin. Although some people fit it into a shoujo, it doesn't seem shoujo-ish to me.
I adore the characters, relationships, plot, music, and animation. I agree some of the episodes the animation isn't as great as others, but all in all I think its a great series, but like every series its not for everyone.

I think it is more unique than most 'school girl going to another world' type things. I especially enjoyed that it dealt with some traditional japanese myths and japanese youkai. It's just a really cool japanese fairy tale, and I like it.

The thing about Inuyasha that makes it different from the other school girl series is the fact that she can go to and from her world. Plus, she's dealing with her ancestors, not another world technically. I love it when she goes back and starts realizing she's missed weeks of school and has no clue what's going on.

Personally, I liked it for all the reasons named. The animators did a really good job of staying close to Takahashi's art style. Imo, much better than they did with Ranma. I like it because of it's excellent comedy-action balance. I like it because of all this romantic humor. I love the music; it compliments the feel of the animation well.
But one thing I have to add is that I liked the timing. [grin] I was watching this anime just after watching the final episodes of Cowboy Bebop and Evangelion, and let me tell you, I needed a comedic break from all that depressing stuff. ^^

INuyasha is a really good series it has a great plot and the characters r really done well.
as for the main char i reakon inuyasha is crap
this is one of my first animes that i really dont care about what happens to the main char lol (i hope he dies)
my favorite char is fluffy :) he should be the main char to this series his alot more interesting than that stupid half-wit dog inuyasha. inuyasha is just plain crap. i reakon inuyasha and kagome spoils the whole move :) put sesh and kikyo in a luv afair that would be interesting hahaha. 2 evil/mysterious ppl :)
then poor lil rin chan will be left out
fluffy the pedo :)
but anyways teh point is, yes there r ppl that dont like inuyasha character
and dats me :)
i like the series tho its got good storyline. altho it started dying out from chapters 30 and above (thats when they stoped showing fluffy around) they kept putting alot of BS lil sub story lines to it that has got nuthing to do with the main plot. It only gets interesting when fluffy comes out put it dat way

I love Inu-Yasha! I think that it's one of the geatest works of Takahashi's. And I totally agree with what Maccy99 and Ken8589 said. True, the concept of a girl being thrown into another world with monsters, and people with magic powers or superhuman strength HAS been done many times before, but Takahashi wrote it in a way that made it seem new, you could say that it opened up whole new world for us people =). You have the comedy, the romance and love triangles, action, magic, Japanese folklore/myth and anything else you can think of in one package all gift-wrapped with the ribbon on top. But then there will always be critics....

I start watching Inuyasha on AS, and i got hooked, I'm just up to ep.74 and i love the plot, the human factor and how the relationships between characters unfold, there is very memorable scenes like Kagome's mother talking to her under the sacred tree or Shippo's drawings about the Cat, Dog and Wolf. So far has been the best anime series i had watched.

Inuyasha is the sh*t.
Go to the forums on Anime Nation (http://www.animenation.com) and people will know me as the #1 Inuyasha freak. :D
Seriously, I love this anime, because it's fantastic and has great execution on many levels.
Story:
Sure, it starts off as "girl gets transported to a mystical fantasy world," but it's so much more. It's not as typical as it seems, because Kagome whines alot less than most girls put in this type of situation. It starts off a little slow at first, but when it gets going, man does it get going. The story has a good amount of depth and complexity to it.
Characters:
One of the highest points of this anime. Most characters have alot of depth to them, and have alot more to them then at first site. When you first see Inuyasha, he seems like a cocky little ------- who wants to get strong and hurt people, but there's so much more to him when you learn more about him. Kikyo is the same way. You think at first she's a ----- who just wants to kill Inuyasha, but there's a deeper reason for this. The characters are very likeable, have a good amount of depth and complexity, and are varied in their personalities. Shippo has that child's innocence, Inuyasha tries to act like a tough guy but is actually quite soft, Kagome is your sweet and cute normal high school girl, Miroku is a lecherous priest who is hilarious to watch, Sango is beautiful and usually calm and serene, Sesshoumaru is a bad ass and take sh*t from no one, Kouga is an ------- who does nothing but get int he way of Inuyasha and Kagome's affairs, and alot more.
Another point I must make is Naraku,, one of the best villans i've ever seen in an anime. Everything he does just screams of pure evil. He is a master manipulator and will take advantage of anyone just to get what he wants without a care in the world wether or not he hurts anyone. He's very intelligent, and finds himself one step ahead of eveyrone else most of the time. Truly an evil bastard.
Animation:
Very good. It's not as flashy as modern shows, but is solid and consistent throughout. For a long series such as Inuyasha, the animation remains consistently solid and only has a few moments when you can notice a drop in animation. The character designs are rather simple, but look great and are effective. The backrounds look great as well.
Sound:
Excellent. The backround music composed by Kaoru Wada is very good and very fitting to it's given situation. Most of the OP's and ED's sound good. The 1st ED "My Will" is terrific and is perfect for the show. Other songs like "Change the World," "Every Heart," "Dearest," and most of the others sound great as well.
As for voice acting, the sieyuu do a fantastic and perfect job. Yammaguchi Kappei does an excellent job capturing Inuyasha's personality and gives him a very fitting voice. Yukino Satsuki does an exceptional job as Kagome and capturing the voice of a sweet, yet strong girl. Narita Ken does a great job giving Sesshoumaru a deep and cool sounding voice. Tsujitani Kouji does a fine job giving Miroku a calm, yet sly voice. Of course there are many more that are done well.
Overall:
As you can see, I could go on and on about this anime, because it is my #1 anime of all time. There is so much more I coudl talk about, and I didn't even mention how faithful it remained to the manga of the same name. Heck, most of the filler episodes are quite good as well. If you disagree with my points, then oh well, I respect that. But this is how I feel about Inuyasha, an I think it's a fantastic work that any anime fan should check out.
Score: 10/10

I want to know :(
Inuyasha is the first series that has had a villan I've truly hated. I despise Naraku
Yasei Chi
20-12-02, 04:42 PM
Naraku is the worst villain ever (and by "worst," I mean "vilest, evilest, most rutheless, cold, and cunning villain ever to walk the earth"). I want to kick him in the face.
I'm not all that crazy about Inuyasha, but I do consider it worth watching. The beginning was pretty cool, the story had a lot of potential and I liked it. After the 90something episodes I think they could have done it better and more to my taste, but obviously that is not the taste of Takahashi or the rest of you guys. :)
I'm no good at long blocks of text, so I'll try listing what I liked and didn't like in it.
Good Stuff:
Characters: Even though most of the main characters are almost exactly the same as in Ranma½, they're pretty good. Nobody is obnoxiously annoying (except maybe the racoon guy) and some are extremely cool (Fluffy and Kikyo for example). Their depth and complexity isn't mostly all that amazing and they're based on common clichés, but they serve their purpose in this series.
The Fights: 3 meter swords? Demons? Light effects? Damn right I like them! :D On the graphical side anyway.
Cosmetics: Animation and sound is very good, I just love the openings and endings like the rest of you.
Bad Stuff:
The romances: These are basically as on the same pre-school level as in Ranma½ and they don't make sense at all. Takahashi just haaad to shove Miroku and Sango together, not to mention how that wolf-girl appeared, with no other importance to the plot than giving Kouga a loved one and a happy ending when Inuyasha end up together.
Insane amount of fillers: Sure they shouldn't rush things or anything, but like 100+ episodes for a plot that isn't all that complicated? They spend like 5-10 meaningless episodes chilling around Japan, progress the plot a bit, only to do it all over again etc.
"Credibility": Ok, most of you are definetly disagreeing with me on this, but the world doesn't make sense and I can't stand it. I'm unable to figure out proper words at... good grief, 04:30 in the morning, but there's something about the logic of the fights, the way youkai co-exist in the world, the "strenght" of certain individuals etc that doesn't make sense and it's nagging at me subconciously.
Urgh, I'll just post this and continue in the morning.

::shrug:: You're perfectly welcome to have those opinions. ^_^ I, at least, am not saying that everyone has to like Inuyasha just because I do. ^_^ I'm glad you at least feel it's worth watching.
::snicker:: I made a half-joking, half-serious comment to my roommate a couple of weeks ago. It's a very lucky thing Inuyasha doesn't actually have internal organs, what with how many holes he's had punched straight through his chest and stomach. ^_^

Omg, that is the reply I was not expecting!
Oh well, t'was a positive suprise. Too much time on online forums, I suppose. :)
I've been too bored/busy to complete my post above, but I suppose it could be rounded up as "It has a bit too much goofiness for my taste". Goofiness (sp?) meaning the general amusing unrealism common in anime. Probably not the goofiness that annoys me as much as the series being goofy at one moment and totally serious at the next. I'm trying to take it seriously for a moment, but it ends up silly, or vice versa. The same reason why I was shocked when they turned Vash into a total clown after seeing the quite awesome Trigun opening.
So my final verdict would be that it's a good series as such, but I don't like the hopping between totally serious/realistic stuff and goofy comedy stuff (I have no problem with series that are completely one or the other). Feel free to disagree with me. :)

Inuyasha ga suki. Inuyasha no manga ga daisuki.
I like how Takahashi can combined all sort's of elements in her stories and make them seem possible, or not to far out. Especialy with peoples feelings. She blend action and romance, comedy and drama so well is her writing, that it pulls many different emotions from me. And her charaters in Inuyasha are so deep and complecated. It is a great manga and good anime.

I don't hate the show, in fact I watched every episode minus 97.
But I do have to say, that this show is starting to drag on and on and on.
They need bigger things to happen and relationships that grow faster.
I know Kagome is only 15, so no one is expecting her to get married, but the show has been on for 3 years and she is still 15 and she and Inuyasha haven't even kissed yet![Yes I know they probably do so in the second movie, but it may be just a trick considering the theme of the movie]
So as it goes on hiatus, I find "Reign" quite a refreshing change.
At least we know this show is short and will end with a bang!
Not that Inuyasha won't but it is sort of dragging on.

14-02-03, 06:03 PM
My pet peeves with the show *potential SPOILERS*:
The show does sort of drag on and on at certain moments. What's annoying is the filler episodes are pretty much all the same in terms of concept, fighting some weak youkai or reflecting upon relationships that still don't move forward to the next stage. I agree with the previous poster about the whole Sango and Miroku thing. I like both of them, but it just sort of feels like they were forced together because there was no one else in the vicinity to pair them with. As far as Inuyasha and company's battle with Naraku, that's where it gets the most dull later on. The show keeps working up to the big fight with Naraku but as soon as they find him he either runs away, gets beaten up and runs away, or he kicks their asses and runs away(what? finish them you arrogant fool! don't let them live!). Of course if they beat him that would be the end of the show...but come on, it doesn't have to be. Make a new villain, something fresh. Sticking with the same villain for 90+ episodes gets a bit dull. It's almost funny, because during some episodes it's like they have to remind themselves that they're still fighting Naraku. It's like, "Oh yeah! We haven't been trying to fight/find Naraku in a while! Lets do that! I forgot he was alive still!" So in this aspect I'm glad that they added his "detachments" to the show. Although strangely Kanna(sp?) doesn't do anything anymore after that one episode. She just sits in the back with that mirror letting Naraku watch people. Boring, get her to do something else. And that brings me to Sesshoumaru, as cool as he is...he needs a purpose. He just sort of wanders around and bumps into people randomly and ocassionally fights Inuyasha for bland reasons. It was nice for a change when they introduced the cat people and the war that happened fifty years ago, that gave Sess-sama something to do and gave him more background. They should do that more often. Next, the whole love triangle between Kikyo, Inu, and Kagome is getting a bit stale as well. Same thing happens over and over again. Inu starts showing affection for Kagome then Kikyo appears and he gives her some loving and they're caught everytime by Kagome and then she goes off and sulks even though she hasn't declared any sort of "serious" feelings for Inu like Kikyo has. After the third time of this it got annoying and I would of liked it if Inu just chose one of the girls by then. Whether it be Kikyo or Kagome, it doesn't matter...but he should of chosen by now. It would of given the story a new freshness, by having the rejected woman be bitter and full of rage and angst. Also allowing a "real" relationship to finally develop.
Oh well, despite these nitpicks Inuyasha is by far my favorite anime thus far.
umm....actually whether it is kikyo or kagome kinda does matter:D .....I say reign too, and I dislike it....RIOT!!!

That cat vs dog episodes was a filler I think.
[I don't remember reading that story in the manga anyway]
I think that was the best filler there is uptodate.
If there is an award for best filler episode, that episode gets it. :D

*muses* I suppose it was a filler, well I don't consider it one nonetheless. I look at it more as a side-story. Filler episodes generally only last for one episode from what I've seen. The cat people thing lasted several episodes.
Oh, the cat people....that was a filler? ....wow that was a really good little 3-4 episodes
Shinryu
14-02-03, 11:41 PM
Yes, it was very enjoyable. A nice side venture. My favorite part would have to be when Inu and Sess were fighting the great cat lord. Then Sess was about to transform but Teseiga stopped him. I wish I could of seen him transform again...considering he lost that left arm. *laughs* He would be a three-legged dog hopping around. Does he still have that dragon arm? I've only seen up to episode 90 and it never showed him using his left arm nor did it show him ditch the dragon arm.
Yasei Chi
14-02-03, 11:48 PM
I don't think he has the dragon arm anymore. Aside from that one human arm he used, his borrowed arms tend to hang out of the sleeve (being longer than the sleeve), and thus would be rathr noticeable as he walks around. Though, I'm sure he has no problem grabbing a spare arm off of something when he needs one.
(joking here) Maybe Jaken carries them around all dried up and shrivled in a box or bag or something. A sort of "just add water!" method with the arms. ^_^
Shinryu
14-02-03, 11:51 PM
*laughs* I wouldn't be surprised. His dragon arm was by far the coolest in my opinion. Jaken is so devoted. Sesshoumaru practically shattered his world when he told him, "you're the only friend I need" the look on his face was a kodak moment.

Dragon Arm? My guess is that when Inuyasha Kaze no Kizu'd him, it destroyed the arm.
