View Full Version : "Service"?
At the end of the preview of the next episode, Misato says, "And there will be more service", and stuff like that.
What does she mean?

fan service basically means showing a bit of breast/tits and legs - a bit of a perv etc etc....

I wonder if it wasn't for the "Fan Service" Eva wouldn't be so popular?
That's Why the 2nd episode has alot of it in it. If it didn't get you thinking the Characters were "HOT", in this Case Misato, you wouldn't get into the Storyline. That's why the later the episode the less "Fan Service". But by then, your that much hooked on the Show itself that you don't care about the "Fan Service". For the true fans of the Show it's unnessary, but it's a good tool to get you hooked

At least I now know what Fan service means.
The first ep when Shinji moves in with Misato is probly the only ep i can remember having any fan service.
Maybe weve just become so accoustomed to it, oh well. maybe it is too much time in front of this computer.

Auska in "Auska strikes"
Although 14 year olds shouldn't be counted as Fan service. It's not right, even if it is a cartoon

Really, why would it be bad to have 14 year old fan service? It's not like they show anything bad. . .though, with what I've seen, I doubt it'd faze me much (as nudity isn't important to most stories. . .well, except maybe hentai material). Well, there's Ranma 1/2 (just a bit, nothing bad), Sailor Moon (*cough* the original transformation scenes showed. . .some stuff, again, nothing bad), and of course, La Blue Girl . . .um. . .well, just a little bad, of course it wouldn't be recomended or sold to someone younger than 18 or so.

O.K, Rei and Auska are suppose to be 14 years old, they give the pervs Fan service. Is that right???
No
Child Molesting must be a problem in Japan if Shows like Eva do this.
At least Misato is suppose to be 20 something. With a 14 year old there just too young

Misato is 29.
And I don't remember any 'fan service' at all.
Please don't let this turn into a Rorikon debate please please please
And i wouldn't call the "Asuka strikes" scene fan service. you don't see anything and besides - it was funny.
I think the shinji falling on rei scene was a little....extreme. But there's a hell of a lot worse, and in Eva it's not really taken that seriously, in a lot of other anime however....

Your Joking
You cant remember any Fan service
Misato : Episode 2, Shinji moves in, when there in Misato Apartment, the whole thing in the apartment is full of "Fan service"
Rei : Episode 5, Shinji has to deliver Rei's Authorization Card, Shinji falls on Rei, "Fan service"
Auska : Episode 9, Shinji and Auska have to train together to beat the Angel that splits into two, Auska after her shower, When he wants two different rooms, Auska sleeps next to Shinji
If you don't think that Evangelion dosen't have "Fan service" watch these episodes

I think that the smell has gone Away
Why? because most people know that I'm right
14 it too young for "Fan Service"
Anyone to dispute my arguement is just doing it to start an Arguement
14 year old fan service may be O.K for 13-15 year olds but Evangelion is deffently not aimed for them. (espally the Movies)

It's a cartoon (well, not a cartoon). I don't think you should really think highly of what little Eva shows as fan service.

That to you is Fan service????? i have seen a lot of things worse than that. it's not like they started anything. Evangelion isnt that kind of show that goes into cramming details like that. its just a few flicks that they went too far with.
Agreed. Wolfpac I dare you to go watch something like Urotsukidoji then come back and talk to me about fan-service.
"14 year old fan service may be O.K for 13-15 year olds but Evangelion is deffently not aimed for them. (espally the Movies)"
Firstly, it's not porn alright? end of Rorikon discussion. Case Closed, sealed in concrete and dumped in the North Sea
Secondly, most of it's funny and for the most part non-sexual.
Thirdly, I could debate for hours over the Age group that Eva is aimed at. I figure it's somewhere around mid-late teens, although as you'll no doubt have realised, it is more than appealing for people older than that age group.

*I* am enjoying EVA! I've said it before, but only once here - maturity is a state of mind. "Maybe I'm not there, but I'm still tryin'".
Pen2 is right. I've seen Urotsukidoji II, but it's nothing awful and disgusting. As I remember, I spent at least half of the film laughing about the dubbing.
No fan service, it seemed like. All of those scenes had significance. Misato's was about her feeling guilty, as if she was using Shinji, or as if she'd made the wrong decision. Rei's was elaborating on her emotionless personality, but when you find out what, or rather WHO Rei is, that scene becomes... slightly gross in concept. :P
As for Asuka's, am I right in thinking that was all about her mother? I'm a great Asuka fan, so I didn't mind it...
So far, I've understood Evangelion, and it's changed my view on life, and humanity, just as I think Anno intended it to do.
So there you are. Anybody can enjoy EVA, so long as they go in with an open mind, and are prepared to look deep. Oh, and not being offended by religious references helps too! :P

>Secondly, most of it's funny and for the most part non-sexual.
I agree. Mostly, they just use it for laughs, but sometimes they use it for character development. I am of course thinking about Misato and Kaji, which results in her thinking about herself and so on.
As for Urotsukidoji, some of that stuff is just plain grotty. :(
