Does anyone know if the Inuyasha movie has been licensed or fansubbed yet? And if they have licensed it, do they have a projected date yet?

Viz will probably handle the US release of the Inu-Yasha movie, but considering they haven't started released the TV series yet it might be a while until we see it here. I haven't noticed any fansubs of it yet either... but I will see this movie :D

Yuppers Viz has the rights to it.. They bought the rights a long time before the movie even came out
More Importantly whens the Inuyasha movie dvd release date for Japan, which will be the quickest way for us to view it (after it's fansubbed)

Does the movie have to do anything with the manga?
The Inuyasha Movie has been subbed
It's 629 meg and it's done by uta (uptown anime)
The camcorder quality is shocking and you even see peoples heads. The escaflowne movie camcorder is probably better than this and this is 400 megs bigger.
------ video source, ------ encoding, wait a month for a dvd version.
Or go ahead and waste a 600 meg dl.

Hehe .. That cam has been around for ages only no company has been willing to sub that piece of crap (or so it my understanding). Everyone seems to be waiting for the DVD or similar quality ..

I have absolutely no idea why the guys who subbed that crappy camcorder felt the need to encode at 600meg... "yes, we must accurately preserve every blurry image!". That camcorder version is absolutely laughable, at the end the picture starts skewing even more as the guy with the camera starts to leave the cinema before the movie has finished... ^^;
Theres a rip of the Inuyasha movie out now thats at vhs level, it's been subbed by someone.
The IY Movie DVD is out this month as well and should be subbed in the next few weeks.
Well a 2 disc DVD rip fansub of the Inuyasha movie has been available over the net for awhile.
So who has seen the movie and what did you think of it?

I bought the soundtrack...utter crap, no vocals, all the sings sound the same. The animation style in the pics of the CD seems a little lacking (heavy defined lines) but no I haven't seen the movie. Supposedly Takashi actually created the main bad guy (or girl in this case) but it has nothing to do with the actual series (AKA an alternate dimention movie...man I hate those)

It's not an 'alternate dimention movie' actually,
It just ignores the main plot (everything that has to do with Naraku)...
**A little Spoiler**
It's just another enemy that Inuyasha's father fought that got back to life somehow and now Inuyasha has to defeat.
It's actually a bit more than that, but I guess that's obvious...
Anyway, I just saw the movie recently and really enjoyed it.
I liked the idea of the tree...

No vocals? I could swear I dled a song from the movie soundtrack that had vocals (perhaps it was available only as a cd single?)

Yeah, that song is in the ending credits. I downloaded it too before seeing the movie, and realized last night that it's at the very end. Otherwise, most (if not all) of the music is the same as in the series.
I ended up downloading the crappy cam sub (can't find a better copy anywhere yet), and watched it last night. It might not necessarily be the same one, since the person with the camera stayed through the whole credits (unlike someone else's post who said the camera person left during the credits).
Lessee...complaints.... I hated how they didn't subtitle several places where I could tell people were talking and occasionally could tell what they were saying. ::grumble:: Most of the time I was just clueless when people were talking and weren't subtitled and I had no clue.
I hated when the heads of the people in front of the camera obscured part of the screen. I also hated when the person right in front of the camera stretched (hand across the screen).
I disliked how the images were blurry half the time and all blued out, and how the light seemed to blink because of the funky reaction between camera and screen. ::grumbles more::
But the story looks cool and it was engaging and the animation is gorgeous! (what I could see of it, at least) I really need to get this when it's released to region 2 dvds. ::shoots Viz::
I'd say, episode-wise, it seems to fall just after episode 55 or 56 (whichever one has Shippo and his "girlfriend"). I say this because:
---***spoilers***---
Rin's with Sesshoumaru.
Inuyasha knows Bakuryuha.
In the ending credits, there was a scene of Shippo and his "girlfriend" sitting together.
Ne, didja' know that Viz is apparently just a front for a Japanese company? Which would prolly explain why they've released Ranma 1/2 with only about 2 episodes per DVD (bakas!), and will prolly do the same to Inuyasha. Stupid Extortionists.

You're just about right Yasei Chi. If you want to know if you actually have seen the DVD sub of "The love that transends time" around, click here (http://animeboards.com/showthread.php?s=&postid=537637161#post537637161).
It's done by anime-Kraze, I believe.
The plot in itself is engaging and gives you the warm squishies like I'd expect from IY, the animation was ok. I kind of expected more..
Tha animation in itself is well on par with the first episodes of Inuyasha, the CG used in the movie brings it to 'slightly better than' the first episodes. Still, no stills and nice rolling action, though not quite as fast-paced as the animation in the first episodes. The subs are a bit on the small side, but does that really bother you on a PC monitor ? Translation wise it's pretty much on the money(for what I can say with my limited J-skills), timing is normal. I only discovered one minor timing error, but I'm finiky like that. A normal person wouldn't notice.
I like how the story itself isn't overly love-love magical-girl wai-wai ^_^, Urgh. The title is misleading that way. Also if you ignore the usual pitfalls like the expected "What ? Man ! You couldn't think of this earlier !?!" response at the end of the movie, it's a good watch. Plus (!) it's first time viewer friendly, they explain from scratch.

I reviewed the CD I bought and found that it was the background music CD. Sorry for my slight rant. I'll wait till there's a better fan sub to download it though. I've seen some interesting pictures from it. I really have to ask, is there a hint of Sesshomaru and Kagome romance at all? I don't care about spoilers. I saw a few pictures that might lead to that conclusion, and I'm really interested to know.
Also Yasei, what do you mean by Sesshomaru and Rin?? She's WAY too young if that's what you mean, and from all that I've seen he cares for her as a father, nothing else. (At least i hope not)

it's a cute movie. Nice story, several extra characters that I haven't seen in the AS episodes so far.

The 2 part Movie was all done by 1 person called Stalfos, I did download the first partof the movie that was 700 megz and took around 16 hours to d\l from a friend how had burnt it on a CD and sent from his cd-rom, however Frame rate was really bad, and the file soon after became corrupted, so I had to delete it, becuase for some really strange reason my new 60 gigz Hard drive really didn't like it :redhot:

You might want to ask this in a thread related to the series, since there aren't any hints to anything of the sort in the movie (Sessh-sama doesn't get a huge role in the movie, though he isn't insignificant either). Also, as far as I've seen in the series so far (up to ep. 71 or so), there hasn't been anything like that. And I personally support IY/Kag, not Sessh/Kag, but that's me. Not that I have anything against Sesshoumaru. ^_^
Also Yasei, what do you mean by Sesshomaru and Rin?? She's WAY too young if that's what you mean, and from all that I've seen he cares for her as a father, nothing else. (At least i hope not)
I meant that Rin's traveling with Sesshoumaru. Meaning it's after episode 35 or thereabouts, which is the episode where Sessh-sama saves Rin and she starts traveling with him. I didn't mean that they're a pairing (though I think that would be a nice pairing once she grows up some ^_^).
I noticed the 2-part sub of the movie on Direct Connect. I haven't been able to download it from anyone yet, though. ::sigh::

Nothing even suggests anything about a Sesshoumaru-Kagome relationship in the first 89 episodes of the series. Heck, I don't think they even talk once after the Tessaiga affair.
I have no idea why he took Rin along with him in the first place. It would seem Takahashi changed her mind about Sesshoumaru (who wasn't really a pleasant character in the first few episodes...) and changed his personality mid-series (she did it with Akane and Kasumi in Ranma, so I wouldn't be suprised).

Good point, the Rin character didn't make any sense here to me. They made introductions for other characters in the begining of the movie. Wish they did that for Rin...

i dled a sub by someone names Stalfos too...it royally sucked. it took about 2 hours, and it was only the first half of the movie. i mean, the movie is good so far, but the sub SUCKED. the sound was lagging by about 5 seconds, and the subs were ahead about 3 seconds, and the animation wasnt smoothly running. it really made a big deal...i really want to see a good version...:( i love inuyasha, and want to see the movie, but that sub was hideous.

Hmm...wonder why you were having problems. I got that same download and had no problems with it. The reason it's only the first half is because the guy coded it from one of the dvds, rather than fansubbing the camcorder version. The subtitles seemed fairly good to me, and Stalfos actually subtitled everything they said, whereas the camcorder person skipped lots of lines (I heard characters talking and saw their mouths moving and there were no subtitles to accompany them). The timing was fine in the copy I got, and the animation ran smoothly. I still need to buy the dvd release when it comes out in the US, though. ::sigh:: Stupid Viz.

dunno...but i think stalfos skipped some text too....pretty sure.
Nagha's revenge
07-12-02, 08:08 PM
As far as I can tell he didn't exactly skip text. The translation could be a bit off, and it may have been 'compactly' translated. Other than that It was good and the timing was good.
There is an explanation for the bad quality of the rip. It could be an incomplete download and someone might have fixed it. But because they did it messed with the offsets in the file. Try DLing DivFix and strip the index, then restore it. Perhaps it'll help (though I doubt it). You'll probably need to DL the file again.
