View Full Version : What if....
in the OVA series, what if kenshin completed his training with his master Hiko Seijuro? then he would have beaten Saitoh for sure. he would have been the perfect killing machine.
thats right!
unstoppable!
da best!
no Hiko Seijuro though if it did happen :(
remember to get the succsesion technique you gotta kill your master!
hmmm.... i doubt if Kenshin could have beaten Hiko then - though the question is a "what if" i still cannot accept it. but then again there is an exception... such as Shougo... [wait i need to organize my thoughts...]
ok for the sake of argument, lets say that kenshin did complete his training with Hiko - if he did, then i do not think he would have joined the Ishin Shisi and become a hitoriki battousai - then he would not have met Saitoh or matched swords with him should they have met...
Hiten mitsurugi ryu is not just a fighting technique, it has a philosophy - something which is learned through experience and not taught by your sensei. by this, one has to experience life by going out into the outside world.
kenshins stage of being a hitoriki helped him complete his training. he witnessed firsthand how fragile life could be. it is becuse of this that he became a ruroni and later a master of Hiten Mitsurugi Ryu.
the same could be applied to Shougo - as a kid he witnessed the death of his parents and numerous friends - it was through this that he decided to become a god. with this experience, plus the fact that his sister was i'll he decided to protect the weak (his people) and that is how he completed his traning.
your right ryezen :) if he did complete his training then he would have never became the Hitokiri Battousai.

I don't think its that easy to beat a student of Ken Mitsurugi Ryu...
Kenshin rocks -everyone- =)
if kenshin did master hiten mitsurugi ryu,... i wonder what he would be like as a rurouni... if he ever becomes one
another question: what if kenshin hadn't walk away at the end of the Bakumatsu Era, would he end up like Shishio?

you mean would he have shared a similar fate as Shishio? - being erased?
no i dont think so. even as hitoriki Kenshin was loyal to the ishin shisi (is that the spelling?) shishio on the other hand had other plans and was feared because of it - so they tried to erase him but failed... and you know the rest...

Okay, hold on, I might've missed something, but ...
I haven't seen all the OAVs (just the first one), so don't jump all over me if I'm wrong.
Kenshin was forced out of the training by his master or whatever. He needed to go out an experience life or whatever to fully achive his training, but was kicked out or whatever before he could. So, then ... Couldn't you say that Master Seijuro was helping Kenshin's training by forcing him away? Seijuro made Kenshin go off and experience life under the pretext of getting rid of him. Maybe, just maybe, Kenshin could go no farther in his training without experiencing life. Without this experience of life, he'd be less of a master of the Hiten Mitsuragi Ryu than he was even without killing Seijuro. Did I make any sense at all? ^^

Umm... Kenshin wasn't kicked out of his training...
Kenshin wanted to go out in the world and use the Hiten Mitsurugi Ryu to help people.
But Seijuro told Kenshin that it he couldn't because that wasn't what the Hiten Mitsurugi Ryu was for.
"The Hiten Mitsurugi Ryu is a killing technique. It always will be"
when Kenshin still left Seijuro basically told him not to come back.

So, is that the last we see of Hiko Seijuro? I hope not, he was awesome.

what? killing technique? i thought it was made for protecting people?
i always thought kenshin didnt complete his training bec. Hiko didnt want to teach him the final part, that is why kenshin left... he ws not kicked out...
Hiko didnt want to teach kenshin the final moves bec. he thought kenshin was not ready yet - if you remember, kenshin was still a 14 yr old - still immature to the eyes and standard of Hiko, as a matter of fact, kenshin during that time was an impulsive little brat who was so optimistic about his skills....
now to be a master of the Hiten Mitsurugi Ryu one must not only be skilled with the sword, but must more importantly be mature enough to understand the philosophy which goes along with it.
btw, Hiko still carries the title as the youngest person to master the Hiten Mitsurugi Ryu - that is why he has very high standards and thus could also be biased.... come to think of it, what did Hiko say after he lost to kenshin's succession technique?
..."this is the fate of a master who taught using fear" (or something like that... if i also remember, Hiko also said something like... he deliberately didnt teach kenshin everything so that kenshin will always need him or something....
(gaaaa!!! im rambling again!!!)

yes i remember that part, coz he thought that if he wouldn't teach kenshin everything, kenshin will always run to him. but he was wrong, kenshin was strong enough to survive on his own.
oh and I remember also in the last part of the OVA when Katsura Kogoro said that the Hiten Mitsurugi Ryu wasn't made for killing but for protecting the new era....
if you also remember the reason why Shougo's sensei didnt want to teach Shougo the Hiten Mitsurugi Ryu was that Shougo's reason for learning the Mitsurugi Ryu was the wrong one.
he also tried to stop Shougo upon learning what Shougo planned to achieve with his knowledge of Mitsurugi Ryu - unfortunately was blinded in the process
i havent seen the shougo saga yet(damn video store), i was just wondering, how many have mastered the Hiten Mitsurugi Ryu technique? i know that kenshin is the 11th or something to master the technique, but im not sure though :heh:
well you have to beat the the Kuzu Ryu Sen, and it is not that easy
the story said that shogo managed to defeat his uncle's Kuzu Ryu Sen so its implied that he master Hiten Mitsurugi Ryu
whos the name of his sensei?
i think he was called Haio/Heio/Haiyo.... i dont know how to spell it thats why i didnt post it :heh:
i see :D ive got to watch the shougo saga :bawling:
anyone ever noticed that everytime kenshin defeats a strong enemy another opponent appears and is much more skillful than the last? just like DBZ, they always face a new enemy who is a lot stronger than them...
well thats how the story gets more intresting - that way, they get to beat the good guy first and then, bec. "the good always win's in the end" you know what happens....
oh and another quote "no matter how powerful you become, a greater power there will always be"...
yeah, well i admit that i also like it when the good guys gets a beating first and then we all know that they always win at the end :D
it is true that no matter how powerful you get, there will always be someone better...
