I was just curious as to how everyone else reacted.(I just got done watching it for the second time, and I just need to talk about it:( )
My sister and I kept waiting 'til the end of "Blue" with a secret hope "He's not dead, he's just sleeping" in our minds. Spike just seems like such an immortal guy. I was too shocked and horrified to cry!
How about ya'll?

Well I'm not going to give reasons that go against your secret hope. Anyway, my reaction was both happy and sad. I was happy that he got what he desired, and I was sad that he ummm.... started "sleeping" in our minds. Anyway, for some reason after I saw it and after "Blue" I shed a tear.

I had tears streaming down both sides of my face.

First time I saw it, I felt...something...something I can't really discribe. Relief, perhaps? Strange, I know...but Spike finally was awake...
Now, whenever I watch the ending, I have to brush some tears away. It is a sad ending, no doubt...

I think that the end just felt "right" in my mind. The end, I believe, was fitting and that is how it should have ended. Though I probably would've called any complete ending "right" since the last series I saw was Evangelion. Again though, I wasn't that sad. I knew what was coming and what to expect. I am glad that Ed and Ein will hopefully live happy ever after.

He damn well better have died! I mean taking on the entire Red Dragon HQ and Vicious single handedly… Well Shin did help a little…-But to survive that is ludicis! A item of Gundam Wing Proportaions!

Eh, the ending was sort of surprising. As a whole, the last episode was sort of a "Wow, didn't see it happening like that" kind of thing.
The last episodes (especially the last) of Now and Then, Here and There, I hear, are on a "Holy Fludging Shnit!!!" sort of level.

I thought CB had probably the most perfect ending of any series I'd ever seen. I was profoundly.......moved by it, but I wasn't really sad per se. More sad for Faye than for anyone else really.
I never really identified with Spike, he was fun to watch and interesting, but I never really got attatched to him emotionally the way I did to Faye and Jet. His super-cocky, nigh-immortal hi-jinks always seemed strangely cliche and artificial for such a sophisticated show, and I'm glad that they dealt with that in the ending. Spike may have been extremely cool, but you can't live that sort of lifestyle for long without it grinding you into dust. Faye and Jet aren't nearly as cool as Spike, but at the end of the day, they have a future.

Blown away. I watched it to the very last second, wringing as much out of the last moments of this brilliant series as I could. I knew Spike would die (thanks to a spoiler in an unexpected place :(), but I was still floored by the ending.
I agree that it was the most perfect series ending I had seen; there was no room for a sequel, and even if there were one, I probably wouldn't watch it.
Ed and Ein would be alright... and Jet's a trooper. However, I really felt sympathy for Faye. Those last moments between her and Spike really left me devoid of speech.

Well, we all sorta knew that Spike was gonna die; that old Indian Soothsayer said so. However, I was still shocked because I didn't think Spike would Really die. After I watched it, I go, "I'm gonna watch it again." After you think about it, it's such a good ending. First, it's better than going back to bebop and living happily ever after, married to Faye. Second, it kills the chances of blood-thirsty bussinessmen from wanting to squeeze more money from this franchise.

Well sure, but they can still make more movies. My reaction to the end was different though; after watching the final episodes, I did *not* feel like watching it again...it was THAT tragic and final. But I agree with darkmarine that he had to die. After all, just about everybody else did...
Yeah, I could make a list, but I won't. They know who they are.;)

Actually I wasn't as upset at the death of Spike as I was by the breakup of the group. I always get sad when everyone goes off on their separate ways. I guess it always happens, but the concept of friends forever is easier for me to understand. Looking back on the series, i thought the death was a good ending and a solid one. I think that there was little that could be added to the series anyway. I hate animes like dragonball where it goes on forever with nothing new.
*Noir semi-spoiler*
I was actually much more distraught as the semi-ambiguous ending of my favorite anime- Noir. I have come to grips with it now, but I pray that there is not another season, like people have been saying there might be. Hopefully they don't try to do that to Bebop either. Closure is good to prevent the run on from happening.

I dont know if anyone has covered this yet but, as for your "Spike is Immortal" thing. Spike is one tough guy, but you have to add a few elements to this equation
Elemnts
1. Vicious was a pretty immortal tough guy too
2. Spike just took on just about all of the red dragon clan, and Vicious
3. Finaly, Vicious and Spike agree that they are the only two that can kill eachother

It was one star-buster ending yo! Simply lovely. :D:up: I mean taking on the entire Red Dragon Syndicate and leaving with his life would have been just laughable. The ending concluded quite well and at least Spike got to finish a long fight with Vicious once and for all before he passed away.

Interesting take on it. I personally was more attached to Spike than any other character in the series by far, and he's my favorite male anime character. I knew he was going to die because of a spoiler I ran across without a warning, but I was still incredibly moved by his death. The first time I saw it, I cried, and it's still the only anime I've cried to. It was more a reaction to everything all together: the beauty of the ending and the music playing, the absolute conclusion of the series, what was left in store for Faye, and to a lesser extent Jet, and the death of a character that I was very attached to.
But, with that all said, I also believe it was the PERFECT ending to the series. The real tragity for Spike, in my mind, was Julia's death. If she lived, life would've been worth living for him. But after she was killed, the death of Viscious and himself was really all he wanted. Death was a release for him, from all the pain he had endured in his life.
*sigh* What a great series, and the perfect ending for such a series.

After seeing the ending, I was shocked. I sat there in my dark basement contemplating the whole thing. I finally felt this is how the series had to end, and was the perfect ending as well.

The ending was perfect. I mean COMPLETELY FLAWLESS... but I'd like to know what happens to Ed and Ein, or more importantly Jet and Faye.
I feel the most sympathy for Faye as well.
I just finished watching the series no less than 10 mins ago, so I'm letting it all sink in.

They could do another season of the rest of the Bebop, or another group of people in the universe somewhere. Or some spinoff about Ed and Ein or just Jet and Faye, who knows?
That would be nice, to see the same style and staff used on a similar idea, with a different view and characters.

I still get tears in my eyes when I watch the ending. It's a very fitting end to a great series. If they had had Spike live after his showdown with Vicious, it would not have been the same. Sometimes, tragic endings are better than happy ones.

:bawling: I cried all four times i watched the ending, though, i didn't feel too sad when i actaully thought about it. And in a way, it was a happy ending. "Blue" just...made the scene less mournful and more of relief."I wanna be freeee..." Also, when his lttle star type thing died at the end, I startedup crying again, because i knew he wasn't going tocome back. It was just so ...Final.
And inconcern of Ed and Ein, Radical Edawrd does make an appearance on El hazard, and "call me, call me" remains my favorite anime song. I got all sniffly when i saw ed's little pinwheel taped on the nose of the bebop...i dunno why, exactly.:sulkoff: I'm done with my little nugget of insight, arigatou!

I did see the ending.
My first reaction was: AAAAACK! Awwww! I was half-expecting it like everyone else (Spike WAS asking for it when he charged into enemy territory), but it did hurt terribly nonetheless.
My second reaction was: so.... what happens to everybody else?
You're left SO hanging!
My third reaction was: What purpose did Spike's suicide mission serve, really?!
But I agree with everyone that it WAS a good ending indeed. Just SAD!
