If you guys are talking about the end of the series, i think it leaves a lot of thing un answered like what will guarrantee the power of atlantis to resurface. However it leaves an opening for a sequal.

yeah the ending was kind of hanging. too many questions were left unanswered.

i've never actually seen the ending but i agree with you, it does leave the possiblity for a sequel. it's also good for fanfic writers because there are so many 'what-if's'

Well, um... Van and Hitomi figured that they really are inlove, but they can't be together... so Hitomi is sent back to earth to lead a normal life and gave up fortune telling. Amano and her best friend struck up a relationship but Hitomi and Van, to my understanding, still have that bond even though they're not with each other... which is my question... why can't they be together? Hitomi would've chosen to stay... but she didn't... why? and she doesn't love Amano... so uh... why? and uh... yeah... Van rebuilt Finalia again and was with peace with his brother now.

what else... the end fight scene was cool. must watch it. watch it. watch it. oh, and did i mention, watch it. not to mention Dilandau was cool... and he turned into ranma... i want him to stay a guy! i want dilandau!

the ending fight was really cool, way cool....
i was really shocked that dilandu was actually a girl and allen's long lost sister. dilandu is cool and i prefer him/her to be guy.

i didnt like the ending that much for the fact that hitomi didnt stay with van, she had to go back to earth. i wonder what she was thinking.....

Well at least you're further than me. Here where i live they only show....i think.....9 episodes. and the tv channel where it was shown got cut off.

Me too... fox cancelled it and replaced it with nascar racers. Now I'm stuck reading the episodes' synopsis(sp?) on all of the episodes.

I wanted Hitomi and Van to get together, too. When my dad saw the ending (he was watching the series with me) he was genuninely pissed. The way I see it, there are two interpretations. One, they realize they can't be together but they still share a bond even though they're separated. Two, Hitomi can actually go back any time she wants. She returned to her world to be with her family and frineds and such. Let's face it, it would kind of suck if she never saw them again. I mean they would've thought she was dead or something similar. I suspect she'll go back once she's ready to leave home.

Other than the debate over the ending, I can't really say I found it to be open-ended. What questions remain to be answered exactly?

Fox Kids IS getting on my nerves. They never seem to finish any of the shows that they are starting. Let's see here....there was ESCAFLOWNE, then that other show CYBER SIX, and there were others that I really liked but they all got cut off.

I don't understand why she didn't stay with Van. If her love for him brought her back and his love for her called her back, why the hell didn't they stay toghether if it was that strong to cross worlds? I like the movie's ending, it didn't say she left and in it she grew wings. I like that and was hoping for that in the series. But no, they leave loose ends and unanswered questions and two very sad main characters. I was dissapointed. It was so good until the very end.

I think the ending was done well, exept it was kinda sad :( the only thing I don't like about it is that Hitomi and Van have to split appart after all they've been through together......the fight was cool:).......Van beat Allan........but I wonder how Van can stick his hand into that ruby type thing on Escaflowne?

Look, if Hitomi and Van's love is strong enough to cross worlds, than there is no reason why she can't go back to her world to finish high school, say goodbye to family and friends, etc... The whole point is that their love is so strong she can move back and forth between the worlds. I say she's going back to Van within three years.

No, Hitomi cannot simply move between worlds at will. That would be much to convenient. I think the best explanation of the connection between Hitomi and Van at the end of the series can be found in "Ikari No Naka E". Here are the lyrics, if anyone cares:

If the tightly gripped hand were loosened,
Probably, with this, everything would now be completely over.

The things I wanted to know, even the things that hurt,
Not a single thing would be left like that.

I should wish for you to meet with happiness, but
My unwilling, immature self wipes it away, the tears begin.

Good bye
I love you. You more than anyone.
Even more deeply than the sky.
Don't cry,
We'll meet again, right?
But not being able to see you, it's something only I know.

Having chosen this kind of fate,
Someday, you too will understand what it really means.

We have made a treasure of memories,
That will live forever in a hidden part of our hearts.

I thought it so beautiful, the word called "hope",
Embracing almost painfully, looking up at you.

Thank you.
I love you. You more than anyone.
Even stronger than dreams.
Hold me. Don't let go.
But please don't tell me one more thing...

Don't cry. I love you.
Even being separated far away from you,
I can go on living my life with you.

I've never seen a translation of that song before, Elvenfire. It would certainly seem to back up your theory. As a general rule I don't trust song lyrics when it comes to plot; too many anime have songs whose lyrics have no connnection to the plot or even coherence. Still, that translation IS convincing. I wonder why they decided to split them up? It certainly wasn't neccessary from a plot standpoint.
