In the series it was shown on four occassions that N2 mines (Used by the UN in the series as replacements for Nuclear Weapons, which were outlawed after the 2nd Impact) were useless against the angels.
Do you think that a trusty thermonuclear (H-Bombs for the unintiated) warhead would do the job?

i don't think so, unless they showered it on the Angels and even if they did, i don't think Angels are stupid enough not to have any heat protection.
It was my understanding that the N2 mines were safer and more powerful than nukes

If i remember correctly
N2 stands for Non - Nuclear (correct me if i'm wrong)
so it has the same impact as a nuclear warhead
but just without the radiation
so if you used an nuke, it probably won' t affect them
unless they're not shielded against radiation
but you'd probably kill millions of people in the process

Yeah that's what I meant in a more detailed form :D

Because a nuke would not only destroy Tokyo-3 but it wouln't kill the Angel. You need an AT field to nuetralize an Angels one, otherwise you can only do minor external damage.

i think it would kill the angel, though it would be though radiation poisioning, which in itself would take too long with a being of that size.
also it would be slowing killing everyone one else to the point the 16 angel would just have to wonder down intot he Geofront past all the dead people and non powered evas.
LOL

I personaly don`t think so. If nuclear weapon could kill an Angel than it would be used right away. N2 Weapons are more powerful...

what kind of a tv show would it be if they just dropped a nuke on the angel at the end of each episode? it would just be like a godzilla move then. Evas are what make the angel battles cool.

A little info.
IVY mike the first "true" H-Bomb
had a yield of only 10.4 Mt
and weighed 82 tons
crater was 6240 ft across and 164 ft deep.

You just look at the blast the first N2 mine they dropped on the first angel did to the earth. I'm sure a nuke couldn't have done any more damage than that thing. Hence I don't think a nuclear or hydrogen bomb would be much better.

distructively it wouldnt do any more damage then a N2 mine or bomb. what i was refering to was long term radiation exposure. that is what would kill it evetually. the probablem is the amount of time for that radiation to kill the angel, which could be up to 30 years or more for the bigger ones.

Yeah....but we do not know for sure if radiation would kill an Angel. If Angels can regenerate than radiation would be a small problem for them.
A freakin' nuke couldn't take out a alien space craft in ID4, what makes you think it can take on heaven's death minions!?

My sentiments exaclty. Radiation would be a minor problem for the angels. Who knows they may even feed off of it and mutate into super Angels!

oh come on please!! Teenage mutant ninja Angels are not going to happen.
at most the angels would be affected becouse they are human, they will die eventually if no Evas get to them from massive trumors growing out of them. plus if you make them regenerate more, the more the tumors would grow.

The nuclear radiaton would probably not affect the Angel (much) due to it's AT field. And I agree that N2 mines are stronger and not as "messy."

i thought the AT fields held humans, Evas and Angels together? how is that as good as lead?

N2 stonger? compared to a low Kt nuke maybe.

Well...NOT so weak...they have the power of a BIG Mt nuke...have you seen how big craters they leave? When compared to a 20Mt nuke they still are larger...

actually, since that pic reminds me, look at Sachiel's case. After the N2 blast
1.it was damaged
2.the head almost got ripped so made a new one
3.can see the green lungs or something like that proving the radiation
4.it was regenerating
So the conclusion is "Angels survive nuclear attacks".
remember Ramiel had one of the weakest AT fields? that also means other Angels would be more protected thus resistant to radiation.

Gills. And it wasn't green because of radiation. Of course, they should have just dropped a few more at the same time, and that would have got rid of it. However, dropping one at a time won't do much, because it would just evolve and adapt to it.

20kT 24m deep 193width
20 MT about 241 m deep 2253m width crater
But look at the effect a 20 MT nuke would have
from ground zero to up to 2 miles the fireball formed would be in the 20 million degree Fahrenheit range
then that's not counting the firestorm and the pressure damage.
An almost total fusion nuclear weapon perhaps?

Why would you want to nuke an angel? I mean, they're such cute little innocent guys don't you just wanna huge em`?
yeah, get torn apart, dissolved, cut up, absorbed, corrupted, etc...in the process.

That's half the fun of huging an Angel, you know its just like petting a mean puppy they might bite you when you try but when you do they'll love you for it!
