English Dubbed J-X

I've finally got my hands on the English dubbed J-X and have seen 2 episodes, so far.
:confused2 It seems that every Saber series results in a completely new voice actor cast and I'll admit I'm getting annoyed w/ the constant changes in voices. With J-X, I do like the voice of Lime, but almost everybody else seems to lack the emotion that SMJ had! For instance, Cherry sounds lke a friggin' robot half the time!:burnup: Maybe I'm just having a hard time making the transition after getting attatched to the SMJ voice actresses. Needless to say, Bandai really should have kept the SMJ people.

Anyway, has anybody else had trouble adjusting to the English dubbed J-X??

That sucks, I mean I'm getting really annoyed with this whole thing. I mean why the hell can't they just leave the voice actors the same? What could be going through Bandai's mind!!

That's it, I mean I've had it. SMJ has always been and always will be my fav series. The way they portrait the characters in the english dub I can live with. But if they keep changing them how do you expect the VAs to get used to the characters. Is Bandai trying to make SMJ a bad Dub!!

Well at least the Spanish and Japanese dubs are there. Their VAs do exellent jobs. Megumi Hayashibara still rules and the spanish VA for Lime is great.

But still why did they change it!! That's it I'm getting to the bottom of this once and for all!! I'm writing a letter to Bandai demanding their reasonings behind is act against my favorite anime. I'll post the letter once I get it back. Till then this crime will go unexplained...

I saw the dub for J to X.......it was....bad.

I have never seen such a bad dub in my life! This is a stab in the heart to every SMJ fan ever.

It doesn't ge any better either! The suckiness stays with each character!

It least the Japanese dub is there. Megumi still is wonderful as Lime. Yuka Imai still does a great Otaru and Yuri Shiratori is still great with her role as Cherry. SMJ to X should only be watchd in Japanese to get the full experience.

I like Lime's new dub voice and bloodberry's too but Otaru and Cherry's new voices sound like robot's and Hanagata just sounds weird.

It was probably contractual crap with the Ocean Group that caused the change. Lime was pretty good in the English dub in both J and J to X, though Megumi will always be Lime to my ears. Bloodberry did a good job in J, but her English voice in J to X sort of got on my nerves. I agree with the Cherry = robot assessment as well.

Otaru on the other hand is kind of interesting. Though he changes voices in the English dubs between J and J to X, both fit each series reasonably well. Otaru changes probably moreso than ANY other character from beginning to end. Watch the early episodes of SMJ and the last few of J to X and you'll understand.

This my friends is why we only watch anime with subtitles, heh. Some of the dubbing on things is so horrible it burns the ears. I was watching J to X with my sister and she didn't want to read (Damn her black heart). Anyways, as I said above that type of thing burns the ears. Bandai should die a million deaths for this as Vandread said.

I don't watch anime with subtitles half the time... then again it helps that I understand Japanese. And Japan has more than its fair share of bad or overrated seiyuu much like anywhere else, though most anime fans will deny that.

I have heard the English dubs for all three series. They do not impress me.

Actually, I know, and am friends with, Cherry's english seiyuu for J to X. She agrees that she was very bad, at the time, and wishes she could go back and re dub the whole series. Saber Marionette J was her first ever voice acting job, and she was, as she said it, "a nervous kid, trying to read my lines."

That said, I much prefer the Japanese dub. The voices are alive and beautiful, and they really bring the characters to life. I don't believe there's ever been a dubbing as excellent as the Japanese dub. For any series, not just this one.

J-X is one of the relatively few anime that I just can't watch in english*, i'm normally fairly tolerant of dubs even pretty poor ones but it just sounded awful even compared to SMJ which wasn't a great dub (probably average, or slightly below average for it's time).

I ended up watching SMJ in english, and J-x in Japanese with subs :)



*I'll watch anime dubbed or subbed without really an overal preference - some i like more dubbed, some i like more subbed it depends on the anime and the performances/translations etc.
