Why did Misato have to die?

If you ask me Misato is the third coolest character after Rei and Shinji, She really did´t deserve dieing in the mannor that she did, especially after all she had done for Shinji. It was preety obvious that her love for Shinji was true and unconditional, I belive that she should have been the new eve. :bawling:

Um...you really shouldn't make a title like that in case someone hasn't seen the movie. You may have just ruined that turn of events for someone.

And Misato dying was just part of everything else. Makoto, gendo, ritsuko, maya....they all die. Oh well. This is one of those shows where the person isn't lying if they tell you "everyone dies in the end."

well in the story line, Misato had done everything she could for shinji. There was nothing left to do with her. It was a way of getting one more emotional impact out of the audience. It was either have her die that way or get splashed into lcl. That ending was far more surprising to me and I like it. (not that I wanted Misato to die but I think its fine this way)

I was shocked when I saw Misato die for the first time. It was unbelievable that someone like her could die. But I believe that she was taken into Instrumentality (note the ghostly Rei that appears above her) and considering Yui's words, it's highly probable that she can return to life, if she so chooses to.

This title should have been "Why did EVERYBODY have to die?" In EOE, everyone but Shinji and Asuka die since their souls are torn from their bodies and fused together to form Instrumentality.

We could care less about all the other fools. Misato was a truely good person ;) She had flaws but she wasn't prissy, wimpy, whiny, devious, jealous or deceiving like Shinji,Auska, Gendo, Ritsuko. Misato was usually the one who tried the most and gave the most. Sure she may have been a little bit off the wagon, atleast she could hold the booze and not act like a ditz after a beer ;)

Misato was superfabtabulistical person, the best character in Anime EVER! I was terribly depressed when she died, I was thinking if someone so nice dies after trying so hard, what's the point to this all..... :eek: - which is what eva does, makes you think long and hard about what you value and what other people value in life.

Misato gets blown up after saving shinji. that's her role in EoE... she saves shinji because she loves him, both as a surrogate mother, and in other ways. you know that she's got to save shinji after you watch the first few episodes, how she takes shinji under her wing, and you work out she's his protector. and it wouldnt be appropriate to turn misato into lcl, dont ask me why.

In a series such as EoE . . . ppl start to die and you would sorta expect her to die as well anywayz . . .so the spoiler was not that bad . . .so lay off of kama :P . . .but as for why she had to die . . . itz what Eva is . . as a series . . .
It was a good part of the movie if you can say that . . . not because she died . . .but because of the significance of the moment . . . Her doing what she did b4 she died and her death are two of the most talked about things (i think :heh: or at least in my mind anywayz) . . . so it basically adds to the gr8 series that is Eva. . . IMO anywayz . . .:)

Misato's death is not really that sad (considering everyone died cept for 2 people), compared to stuff that's happened in Trigun, Scryed and most of all Rurouni Kenshin OVAS and Cowboy Bebop.............

I saw that and never got a answer to why it was shown UNTIL I saw those freakin' depressor-rama movies. Took me months to be able to watch the entire movie. I never really could get past Misato blowing up :(
