...and i really dont know whats so special about it. and whats the surprise everyone is talking about? i wasnt surprised by anything...besides the fact that chloe died. and what is that whole "noir is set in a medievel setting" ive heard from some people? for crying out loud, the only used medieval stuff in the end. so i really dont know why so many people are raving about how godly it is. i dont know, maybe its just me, as tdm says, different strokes for different people...

dont get me wrong though, this isnt a "i hate noir" thread, i liked noir but ive seen better. but the reason for this is, there mihgt be something that i missed out.

i've heard so much hype about noir and loved the first 4 episodes... after that, everything went downhill and predictable for me. I didn't really find anything special regarding the ending either... oh, chloe died... yeah... oh, i guess i was supposed to feel sorry for her... narf.

but well, you have to admit, Noir has one kickass sound track. I give that credit.

It's true that episode 4 to 10 could be considered filler.

One thing I'm sure you didn't foresee was Kirika's transformation.

One thing I did want to see was a final showdown between Mireille and Chloe to see who would be Kirika's partner.

Definate spoilers ....

I feel particularly foolish admitting this, but I completely misunderstood Artena's objective the first time I watched it. Despite the "nuns with guns" action scene, I thought the episode was thrown together haphazardly when they realized they could milk more money of Noir.

However, I made my friend watch Noir, as she is open to anime, but still at the "porn/pokemon" stage. Noir is definately a good "proof" of plot anime, I suppose. Anyway, I finally realized what her motive was and I felt the anime was better for it.

So, Fatal Outlaw, what did you think her motive (and the reasoning behind it) was? You might have had the same problem I did the first time. :B At least, if you did, I'd feel better about my own "oops."

all i know is she's for the Grand Retour and it failed. i dont go too deep on most of the animes i watch.

anyway, nothign really surprised me in the whole series, even when it was revealed that kirika was the one who kille mirielle's parents, i saw that one coming. and personally, the ending is good, but like i said before, its not that great as some people claim it to be. the only episodes i liked were the ones where they were in taiwan and the episode with mihoshi.

Spoilers ....

Apparently, the Grand Retour, at least the way Artena chose to use it, was to create a team of assassins not for use by Soldats, but merely to "destroy" evil. So to speak.

Anyway, the reason why Artena created such bizarre enviroments for her Trees, was to create three completely unbalanced personas that would eventually come to hate her. By then killing her, Artena would set in motion an unending cycle in which the Noir would proceed, unchecked, into the real world to kill anyone which reminded her of their hatred of her.

Specifically, those people who did children harm. Artena was raped as a child, and this event fuelled her hatred of such people. Therefore, she abused and unbalanced her Trees, in hopes that they would have similar experiences, and thus similar hatreds.

This put a whole new spin on the series for me, particularly within character interaction, and at the very least, made the end and the fight for "Noir," make more sense.

It didn't make Noir stellar, but it was certainly way above blase. There's a thread Artena's motives that explains the end better in the Unoffical Noir Forum.

There's nothing really to be perverted about when watching Noir. Nothing really considered fanservice in it. You must be thinking Najika.

It was all about the feel of it to me. The puzzle fell into place right away. I liked asking myself questions 'bout whether or not it was right to kill old KGB man and how Kirika and Mireille must've felt. I like that neither of them are all goody-goody but still think about what's going on. Yeah, stuff like that.

wow. i never even picked that up
Perhaps that maybe because you had some notion that this was just about girls with guns. I admit I didn't quite understand Altena well either so I watched the last two episodes again and I finally got it.

But I might be that I enjoyed watching Noir more cause I was watching it at 2:00am in a really dark room before hittin' the hay.
Having seen 300+ different anime, I think Noir working its way in my Top 5 is really bizarre but for some reason it just came together for me... I think I'll go watch it again.
Also, I wouldn't point out any Noir episodes as filler, rather I believe Noir had an average progression rate.

On a goofy note, my imagination station just worked up an image of Kirika saying, "I see dead people."
Sixth Sense, there's a thought.

Umm... You don't need to say *spoilers* all the time.
If you're stupid enough to read a forum for an anime you haven't seen then you've earned the right to be spoiled. It's like a mild form of Darwinism... ^_~

I knew that Altena had 'issues' but I didn't recall anything about rape... I remember that scene where you see her as a kid walking though the desert, I take it she brings it up in her dialogue as an adult somewhere?

The longest scene pertaining to that occurs in the last episode when Altena is walking down the staircase. As if little Altena didn't look screwed up already because of the war, we also see a soldier put her on a bed. His intention was pretty clear. Altena never actually mentions anything about that.

.................. yes I think that the rape thing was hinted... i mean c'mon the soldier stepped on her doll... what more do you need!..J/K.. ... man..Althena is one tall freaky lady... she literally watches over Kirika n Chloe from afar..... and man can she walk... and what's with the sleeping.?..everytime she's in a scene with Chloe or Kirika..it's "hi! how's it going?"..."You must be tired...let's go to sleep..".. and her theme is Lullaby.. which is fitting... but she's cool..freaky but cool.... and Chloe..!.. she dies!.. why did you remind me!!.. oh god the Horror!..*(crying)*..:bawling: ... why her!?.. why god??!! whY !!!!.. so anyways yeah Chloe is cool...
