Anyone here like Chloe?
IMO she is an idiot... with a voice that's too high pitched. ^^
Although I guess there's not much to say about here seeing as she dies... Then again, none of the main characters survive. :(
I think Chloe is kinda cute in a bizarre sort of way. She's really innocent and child-like with the way she clings to Altena and Kirika. Snaps between cute and killer real quick... And her confidence when encountering Mirielle was something I found amusing.
with a voice that's too high pitched. ^^
I like Aya Hisakawa. I ain't got nothing 'gainst Chloe's voice.

What do you mean by that?! Both Mireille and Kirika manage to survive.
And Chloe is voiced by the rather talented Hisakawa Aya.

I thought so too... rewatch the last minute of the last episode... Whoelse could it be? ^^
Well, according to some sources there is a sequel of this series in the works, so, I wouldn't be so sure about the intention of the gunshots in the last scene.

Then it would be a bad ending ^^, remember that Mireille and Kirika are murderers too. ^^
Anyway, what would be the point of the last 2 gunshots then?

I don't think the fact that Kirika and Meirelle's survival was a bad ending, although I do think it was a less dramatic one. The atmosphere Noir had set me up to lose most of the characters, simply because it was a very dark morality play.
They would either not learn, and die for their stubborness, or they would learn, and die anyway -- because Noir had an underlying theme of futility run throughout, until the point I personally think that the creators decided they could milk it, and wanted the two main characters to survive for a sequel.
After all, look at the "Kirika-chan is so cute!" thread. How many posts does it have? How much more money could they make off her? :sweatdrop: I hope Ronin doesn't get mad at me.
Anyway, I have to admit being surprised at the ending because it was so happy. While the gunshots could be *spoiler*
the deaths of both the girls, it has been speculated that they were shots from Meirelle's Walther, and Kirika's Beretta. Why they chose to use gunshots as "finisher" noises, I'm not sure. Maybe the guys-in-green found their guns and went at it? Who knows.
As for Chloe, who this thread is devoted to, I have to admit she was my favorite character. My friends gushed over Noir until the point where I finally went out and found it, and when I said I did, all three of them responded with: "You'll love Chloe so much you'll try to cos-play as her!" (Now, I don't like cos-play. At all.) So it was a pretty brow-raising opinion all three of my friends had. :p But, lo and behold, I *did* like Chloe that much. Of course, happily for the rest of the world, I have no cons to go to. :(
Anyway, what drew me to Chloe was her amazing character design: I just love her eyes, they give her a very cat-like, sleepy look, that other anime try do, but have yet to succeed. And of course, how many anime girls can get away with a magenta mullet and still pull off being cute and vicious? Secondly, what drew me to Chloe, and made her one of my all time favorite characters, was her confidence. This was partially in her skills, partially in others, but mostly in herself. I have never seen an anime character who was so incrediably comfortable with who she was and what she did. While, morality wise, she probably shouldn't have been, you have to admit that Chloe was probably the most mentally healthy of all the Trees, even with her Kirika-crush.

There were more than two guys in green...
It makes a lot more sense if those shots were for Noir. ^^
Chloe was cute? Her voice... >_< She's supposed to be older than Kirika isn't she?
As for mentally healthy... She was a machine... Altena's tool, or more so, Altena's weapon. She was the least independant person in the series. That's one of the reasons why I like Mireille the most, she's the most human person in the series.
P.S. Anyway, Kirika and Mireille are still better.:p:);)
Lunagenic

I don't think she's a machine, look at the "Chloe" episode, where she makes her own choices about avenging the General's daughter.
On the Unoffical Noir Board, there was a thread discussing episode 25, and many people think Chloe chose her end. Chloe makes some rather important choices throughout. Just because one is a lackey, does not mean they're a machine. Just because one is a child or child-like, does not make them a machine either.
Chloe is not completely mentally healthy, no. Is anyone? No, of course not. However, some of the major factors in most mental angst are self-esteem, self-trust, and self-love. Out of all the girls, Chloe is the one that seems to have all of them in spades, followed, arguably, by Meirelle.
Minions and lackeys tend to be written off as drones and machines, simply because they aren't calling the shots. However, no one would make it to lackey if they were completely stupid. Chloe is told my Artena many times "it's up to you."
Out of all three of the girls, I think Chloe exercised the most choice and had the most power, up until the last episode, when Meirelle and Kirika make a choice that negates and changes their world, as opposed to Chloe's "working within the system."
More Power to you, Minions of the World!
Luna.

What would be Chloe's most likely course of action were Altena to be incredibly angry with her:
a) She must die!
b) I don't care.
c) I am not trying hard enough, I must work harder to gain her appreciation.
d) Goodbye cruel world!
Anyway, Mireille was very much independent from square one. She had next to no involvement with Soldat after her parent's death and every one of her actions was for the good of both her and Kirika's objective (if not income).
Ahh, I see, she's a child... No wonder I don't like her. ^_^ Then again, so is Kirika, but Kirika doesn't have a 'mummy to spoon feed her or read her bedtime stories'. Kirika was probably the most isolated person in the seires followed by Mireille and Chloe. Of course Mireille had many contacts, but they are hardly people who she's close with. Chloe however had Altena from day one, she comes across more as a daughter than as a woman.
As for the distinction between isolated and independent... That can vary. ^^

Chloe is cool! She's got the best theme song and a wicked cloak! :) And she uses knives instead of cheap guns! :D
As for the last gunshots,I don't think they were meant for our heroic duo. After fighting this elite criminal organisation and barely escaping alive you'd think they would deserve a moment of peace, not to be shot in the back.
I think the gunshots and the broken watch signify to the end of Grand Retour. The Soldats men are killing the surviving priestesses and are taking over once again.

The cloak is cool... But, from what I can gather, her themesong is bad. :p:)
The Soldats melody is the best (IMO of course... actually, no, I am God and it is the best). ^_^ :)

Umm... no... They were surrounded by criminals when they staggered out, ;) remember that the duo are evil too. Anyway, like was said in one of those other posts, Altena's murder by Noir was, in part, her motive. Since Noir were killed, Altena's objective failed to eventuate. ^_^ Hence a happy ending. ^_~

Yes,but I'm betting that Mireille's last "employer" and his men understood that Mireille and Kirika were no longer in the assassination business and wouldn't give them any trouble.

Spoiler .... not that this thread isn't ripe with them already ....
Artena failed because Meirelle and Kirika did not try/choose to kill her, so to speak, and because they did not, they let go of their hate and could not become Noir. There is no Noir! Noir is dead! Haha!

I see why you don't like her ,but I don't think she's all that mechanic. She is predictable in that she would do anything to defend her Altena, and I think that's cute.
Lunagenic:

I agree except I think it's just that they didn't become the unchained Noir Altena wanted.
There is no Noir! Noir is dead! Haha!
At the end when one guy refers to them as Noir, Kirika says no but Mireille says something like, "Clear a path if you fear eternal darkness." Kirika seems surprised but it Mireille looks pretty satisfied to say something so "Noir." I think it means she's accepted Kirika.

I reckon, if they wanted to be the "light" or whatever they wanted to be in the end (whatever they replied to the guy who said the world was full of hatred and evil), they should have changed their name to be Blanc or something...

exactly, i was just getting bored of it until she showed up. i must definitely say that they had great timing on bringing her in. Kirika and Merieyu were interesting characters indeed, but they were fairly cliché for me... it just seemed to me that there was so much more they could've put into the other characters a bit.

i think what i favoured most about Chlóe was her heart though. she had something good natured about her that kept her so realisticly deadly, yet loving at the same time. i agree with fayee though, if it weren't for Chlóe, i would've favoured Kirika best too... i loved her mysterious side and cute side... i loved the feeling that there was so much more behind her.
Chlóe beat her by a long shot thugh, with her pink hair, amazing eyes, wonderful character design, great pacing for revealment, wonderful addition to the story, enjoyable character, respectable talent, et cetera. gotta' love Chlóe. now if there were just more WALLPAPERs with her on them hah.

indeed, that's one of the things i loved most about her. she was very human in the sense that she had so much to her. she wasn't just cute and mysterious {Kirika} nor was she just mature and powerful {Merieyu}... she had more dimensions to her personna than the other two.
or like Yen brings up, i too was really sad when Chlóe died. in fact, afterwards, i didn't really care what would happen to Kirika and Merieyu... since Chlóe was so well developed, i was always more concerned about her. i would've stopped watching even if i wasn't interested in how the creators decided to close the series. besides, there wasn't much left anyways hah.
chloe was the kind of character that probably desevered to live but of course she was full of anger... to the second inner tree at least.
seeing that the third tree was the one to kill the second caused the to outer trees to become the true noir
chloe would have made a better noir though:bow:

Mireille as the "weakest?"
Feh. Hardly. Strength isn't just in being able to kill people, you know.
Mireille was the strongest of them, actually. She was far more mentally stable to fall for Altena's machinations.
mentally stable?! What about falling to the ploys and manipulations of Intoccabile, such that she was paralysed by fear even though she had a gun and could have easily killed her? It doesnt really matter how strong they are mentally. If something is etched into their memory from childhood, they cannot run away.
