This is something I have always wondered about. Do N2 mines/bombs give off radiation? If they do then how could the UN or NERV detonate one of them without making Tokyo 3 uninhabitable? That one that Rei tried to use against the 14th Angel even exploded inside the Geofront.

I heard this from somewhere..
There are such things of nuclear bombs that are able to give off radiation and not damage any buildings or enviroment. Though the N2 bomb has a different effect I believe. Basically the explosion will give off little or no radiation and will severely damage nearby objects...

There's the standard nuclear bomb which we know of that gives off radiation. This would be a N Bomb.

Then there is the nuclear bomb which has the same effect as a standard nuclear bomb but without the harmful after effects of radiation. This would be a N2 Bomb.

So there you have it. :D

I have no idea WTF up was with Rei's mine, I mean Shinji was only standing a few hundred meters away from the blast… While in the first episode they had to be at least a kilometer away…

And if you didn't notice, the mine does extesive damage to anything within its radious…

Maybe N2 Bombs have difrent power...like standard N Bombs...

1. N2 doesn't give off radiation
2. Its not powerful enough to hurt an EVA
3. N2's can be used very close populated areas since its got relatively short blast radius than other nuclear bombs

The force is strong in this one.

N2 mines are non nuclear bombs. They do intense damage within a small blast radius and do not cause long term damage in the form of radiation.

If N2 means "non nuclear" wouldn't everything besides a nuke then be considered an N2 bomb?

I actually already know the answer (that's a first!), I'm just playing with your minds :p
