well, ive been talking to some ES fans on their thoughts about the US version, pretty much all of them tought the dub was *good* but not good enough. some other complaints ive heard from fans: the Vidnotes missed some stuff and the some of them said that the translation isnt 100%.
anyway, how about we discuss the show? (ive only seen ep. 1 of the dvd, i'll watch the rest soon...i'll be back)

I just got the DVD a few days ago, and I have to say that Excel Saga took my expectations, flogged them with a herring, then surpassed them in almost every department. I can honestly say I have never seen such a strange anime, but damn it, that's why I like it so much! Crazy, crazy, crazy stuff. I especially enjoyed watching all the puchuus (those little yellow creepy things in pink tutus) bleed -and profusely, at that- after being crushed underneath a random boot sole, metal beam, or piece of falling debris.
You know, my poor mind is going to be warped by this series, and I think I'm going to like it (the mind-warping and the series). ;)

excel saga is a great series and as stated above the dvd is really good too ;)
PUCHUU!
So Kawaii
BAM!!
BUT WHAT THE HELL IS IT!!
Any Aussies reading this thread Excel Saga comes out December this year.
I can't help but think this is the best disc ADV has released yet. Five episodes, a bunch of extras, great video and audio, the vidnotes, that ACROSS membership card...if they'd done stuff like this earlier, I probably wouldn't have considered bombing their offices.
Great series, too. Watching the whole disc in one sitting left me pretty much incoherent, but that's a good thing, ne?

See, Excel Saga itself is amazing also because the rewatch value is huge; it's funny time after time. Also, the OST's aren't that shabby either.

no doubt, if their releases were this great two years ago, i wouldnt have sent all those death threats to ADV :heh:

Woohoo! That's only... counts on fingers ... some number of months away!
Well I'll definately be getting this on DVD.
Hail Ilparatzo!
You guys only got the first 5 episodes? Wait till you watch the 6th episode. Introduction of Misaki Matsuya, a mission very vital to Across plan of taking over the city, and Excel 'warming up' Hyatt. :naughty: :D Bet you guys can't wait to watch it now, eh? :D
(Yes I know I'm a bastard for teasing you guys :p )

Shax, don't make me hurt you. I don't want anyone to enjoy ES less than I did, spoiler free.
Okay okay I won't post anymore plot spoilers... for now. :p
...Actually there's hardly any plot. :p
Btw do you guys think there'll be a sequel? Coz the anime series lacked a lot of major plot points found in the manga.
I have the greatest avatar ever!
PUCHUU!!!!
Anyway what was your favourite eps from the first dvd (1-5)
List them from most favourite to least favourite if you want.
Finally, a series that I became familiar with as a sub, that I can enjoy as much as a dub. Jessica Calvello was an excellant Excel. Now ADV can't delay the dub recording so her vocal cords can heal. This despite the fact that they sat on Excel Saga for almost 2 years. Ms. Calvello says she has no ill will toward ADV. Unfortunately, I have trouble being so forgiving.:(

yes, she's an excellent excel, although she does get annoying after a while. i dont like hyatt's voice though, so i just watch the sub and dont bother with the dub.
anyhow i just read at AoD about the recast, this is ADV's fault imo. they shouldnt have put the dub recording on fast track, i mean, they know its a strain to do excel. this is all good for me though since i hate ADV, so now, theres one more reason why i hate ADV!

have you guys heard about the recast for the role of excel? just when i like an adv dub, they go off and screw it (imo, its adv's fault for having ms. calvello having her vocal cords strained)

i cant remember the episodes...but my personal fave from the dvd is the dating sim episode (funny stuff), and my least favorite episode is the first episode (its funny, but no hyatt)
o yea, i just love the authorization scene every episode with Koshi Rokdo, good stuff

I've not heard this. What source reported it and where can it be found? Have they already found the replacement and who is it?

i said imo, thats 'In my opinion'. anyway, i do think that this is ADV's fault, i mean they knew this was going to happen if they speed things up. if i was the executive producer i wouldn't have speed the recording even if the fans told me too. why? becuase i would have cared for my employees.

ANN just put it up and its at AoD.
How can this be the fans' fault. When have Any of these companies cared what fans thought. If fan pressure meant anything, FLCL and the Evangelion movies would not continually have their release dates moved back.

Thats true, but Excel has been at least over two years in the making for States, so has been probably the most-hyped series in years, so the fans, I believe were yearning for this moment. Now that it is here, they want more!! They want it right now! But I would like to say that I feel bad that she lost her voice over this, but the way that she was talking!!! Man, I must say that she sounded better than the Japanese Dub IMO. Whoever fills her shoes is going to have a tough time.
