i feel like an idiot, the dvd does include the parts of the VA's...since i already answered my own question, id change the topic to
"what to you think of the berserk dub?"

I like the Japanese subtiteled version a lot and i don't think an English dub or any other language would be as good as the original one.

i haven't seen the dub, but i know i'd prefer it. It's set in a fantasy european medieval style world, so of course the english version will be better/more authentic.

Considering that the setting is based more on medieval France than England, perhaps you should watch the French dub?
The English VAs are okay for some, not for others. The Japanese VAs, OTOH, are perfect.

The dub is great but so is the sub.
I seem to be in a no mans land of dubs and subs cos i like dubs when i feel i should be looking at the whole of the screen or am just feeling lazy, but i like the subs when i want the full story or just want to hear it as it was made.
I can see why the purists despise the dubbing of anime but i also see why the dubs are a good thing so aint i lucky that berserk is out on dvd with the option of both.:D

After watching the first dvd, the english voice actors do quite well in their roles but like other people are saying the jap actors were good as well.
Onto Dvds #2 and #3.

The English VAs are cool and so are the Japanese VAs. But for the most part I watch the English dub.
I watch it subbed. I've never watched the dubbed version. Looking at the outtakes, it's probably one of the better dubs out there, but I've grown really attached to the Japanese voices. They're just perfect for the roles, and I can't really imagine anyone else doing the voices for Griffith and Guts and Caska....
