Sorry, can't really help you as I haven't seen they series myself, altho it does look interesting. You can check out some info about it at www.advfilms.com

It's dubbed by ADV, so the dubbing shouldn't be too bad.

You should get Sorcerous Stabber Orphen. It's a very good series with lots of magic, fantasy and swords. It's just worth watching! ^^

Orphen~!! ^_^

Nice anime, the animation was good quality^^, but I thought that it was a bit too classical for my tastes... It lacked a bit of the fluidity that Lodoss had.... and besides....the main guy's voice and the opening annoyed me to no end*>_<*. But the plot's pretty cool, lotsa magic interwoven with swords and schtuff *^__^*

Well, i don't know if my knowledge applies to the animated version, as i've only read manga form. But i thought it was pretty good on all aspects, that is characters, plot and art wise. So if the animated version stands up to the manga, which i think i does(don't take my word though, maybe someone can say that from having seen both though), well i highly suggests you pick it up.

If this is Orphen, SPell of the Dragon, then yes, I would recommend it simply because I've heard a lot of good things about from a lot of people, and its a fantasy anime so that's cool.

Its hard to find a good Fantasy Anime, what with Lodoss and Escaflowne (I consider VOE a fantasy story more than anything else) dominating the genre. Orphen is a pretty nice story when it comes to fantasy.

However, take IGN.com's advice, only watch the subtitled. They said that the dub was horrible because they actually edited it somewhat verbally so that the characters personalities were actually changed.

All I know is that it is a disappointing PS2 game. Sorry I can't do much else for you. :(

Well .i watched the first 6 episdoes (~_~ i really need to learn to restrain myself when watching anime ...) and i must say ...good art ,good characters (especially the 2 chibis heh) and as far as i've noticed a deep plot

i give it 2 thumbs up

I think its a 26 episode anime based on the PS2, released on DVD by Madman. I think they are up to volume 3 or 4 of it, volume 5 is coming out in August

It's not based on the PS2 game, the PS2 game was based on the same manga the anime was based on. The quality of the storyline is a damn sight better than animes based on games ^^; Like Eva2000 says, Madman are releasing the whole first series in Aust. The second series (Orphen Revenge) hasn't been licensed yet.

I believe ADV have the license for the second series and are sitting on it for the moment (since they are still releasing the first series in america, or have just finished releaseing it lately)

I think they have an option on the third series.

Which is the third series? I had only heard of Orphen Revenge, which I believe is optioned but not licensed by ADV (Btw, animation quality is much, much better in the second series, I enjoyed it more for that reason)

ADV does, but according to AoD, ADV is gonna sit on them for a very long time. o yeah, btw, i just finished the 5th dvd, which has eps 15-19, and on the next episode preview for ep. 19, dorkin says the next episode is the last one, so i would assume in dvd vol. 6 (which will contain eps. 20-24) that episode 21-24 will be the first 4 episodes of sorcerer stabber orphen revenge

Where did you hear of a third series. I have never heard of a third series, and after Revenge was a flop I find it hard to believe a third was created. That would have to be faulty info. Revenge has 23 eps btw.
