It's an awesome series, not too many people know about it though because it's fairly new and only has a japanese release. I'm not talking about "X" the movie either, that sucked. I'm referring to the series. I highly recommend you see the episodes though, there are 24. It's about a boy with incredibly strong powers who is destined to choose whether he must become the dragon of heaven and join with the 7 seals to protect Earth, or become the dragon of earth with the 7 angels to destroy the planet and all life, letting it eventually rebuild on its own. The animation is superb, and it's one of those excellent series not to be missed. It's right up there on my list next to Rurouni Kenshin, which I have seen all episodes, read most of the manga, seen the Movies/OVA's.
If you have seen it, this is the thread for it so let's talk :D
Yeah... X-tv rocks. =) it's sugoio!!!
and to compare the X movie with the tv-series is like comparing glass to diamonds...
In other words, see the series. Sumeragi Subaru has a LOT more screentime. :D (some with Kamui :naughty: :p )

Yeah Subaru is awesome in the series, a lot more involved then in the movie. I disliked the movie as everone was introduced quickly then killed off just as soon :p
Sorata was also pretty cool, probably due to his humorous personality compared to the rest of the more darker characters. Kamui is awesome also, but I liked his bad ass attitude early in the series before episode 12 then after :D

While yeah, Subaru got more screen time in the TV series, it's not like he did anything useful after waking Kamui up. He just sat around and felt sorry for himself.
Sorry about that...Subaru is currently my least favorite X character, bordering on becoming my least favorite CLAMP character overall. He's so...ineffective and apathetic. I like proactive characters.
The old X TV thread is like four pages back, but being that I'm currently campaigning for an X forum, I won't complain about a new thread being made ^^
As a fanatic of the manga, I must say that I didn't really like the TV series. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't as good as it could have been. They should have waited until after the manga was finished, and they should have had more episodes. 24 episodes to cover nearly 20 volumes of manga isn't really enough. I am glad they made a TV series though, because it has exposed more people to the wonderful characters and story of X.
Besides, now when I babble fangirlishly about my Seiichiro-Karen obsession, people will know who I'm talking about :heh:
X TV was boring pap... Iam hating Clamp more and more...
Chobits = boring
CCS = boring
X TV = boring

Good to know your opinions, I haven't heard much commentary on X except through a few reviews on some anime sites. I'm very interested in reading the manga..know a good place online to view it? Or would it be better to just buy the 20 volumes?

I know of several places who have text translations up through vol. 16 and part of 17. The X fandom seems to be pretty much universally anti-scanslations, though there is one site with a few key scenes scanned and translated (but you'd be missing a LOT). Really, it's better just to buy the manga and use the text translations; the English version released by Viz is taking way too long and doesn't include the tarot card that comes with each Japanese volume.
And Heerogf, you have a good point. For what it is, for the material, time, and length the production staff was given, X TV was actually pretty good. It had beautiful animation and character designs and a very good soundtrack. It covered most of the admittedly huge cast well and the acting was outstanding.
I'm just overly biased toward the manga.

... huh?.. blasphemy!!... you take that back!. ok ok.. seriously.. i think X.. overall was ok.. and is it just me or does everyone just search for blood in everything?... X had a good storyline.. the main plot was always there...but it you don't like the story.. then what're you gonna do?...
That's an awesome cover, up their with Hellsing volume one.
I sense a new avatar in the making.
Also Yurimitsu, NwN and Kamui Fuuma (and anyone else who hasn't) post in this thread X Forum Request Thread (http://animeboards.com/t32319/s.html) and help us get an X forum. It's been overlooked twice now but hopefully it won't be next time.
I just finished the series last night (after being in the middle of it since....October, I think). I thought it was pretty damn good overall - great characters, decent story, and breathtaking animation for a TV series. The only major problem I had with it was that it was so episodic in the middle - it seemed like they were animating manga stories at random, without trying to link them together. Also, I wish the action scenes were a little more prolonged, but this isn't a shounen series, so that's wishful thinking.
The ending rocked, though. I know, it's not official, but, unlike the movie's craptacular final battle, that was something I could be satisfied with.
Next up: the manga...my poor wallet....

I just knew Pioneer would give X a lovely cover. Much better than the R2's. The R2 covers look so crowded.
I want an X TV artbook. I hope they make one eventually.
Anyway, Westlo provided the link to the request thread. Please post there or I'll be forced to threaten more kittens (http://animeboards.com/attachment.php?s=&postid=537573581).

*bounces*
I was looking at Wendee Lee (http://www.wendeelee.com)'s site, and she's playing Karen for sure. Happy, happy, happy.
I didn't like Karen's seiyuu, and I really like Wendee Lee (and Karen, of course), so yay and stuff. This makes me so anxious for the dub of ep. 21.
