your thoughts on battle athlete and battle athlete victory

I havent seen the OVAs Battle Athletes but ive watched the series Battle Athletes V.

I loved it, very funny anime. Great to watch animation is good and i liked the plot. Music i didnt really take any notice to that.

Its a good sports anime, you gotta love girls swimming and running :D

The OVA series is nice and short, so it would be a good show for non-anime otaku to watch.

It has some funny gender humor as well.

I've only seen the OAV series...., & I thought it was as dull as dish water..., though the animation was clean & crisp..., the chara designs were only so-so IMO..., it was amusing in places.., but all-in-all.., I was rather bored watching this series...,

The ova sucked, it was somewhat more realistic than the series, but it just sucked.
The series was a fun anime to watch and they redid the character desgin so it looks pretty good.
So watch the series if you can get it, but watch the ova only if you are really into ba because it just sucked.

they have a special at suncoast: $5 for two tapes. that is the only reason why i inquired about this series. BA victory has 8 tapes which total to $20 for the entire series. is it worth $20?

Yes worth it, id say get Battle Athletes V before Tenchi in Tokyo

The whole series for twenty bucks? Go for it! Even for the tapes that's a hell of a deal. Personally, I loved Battle Atheletes Victory. The OAV has its good points: it's less over the top, the characters are more believable, the ending is much more bittersweet (hey, for some people that's a plus), and there isn't any filler. None of that changes the fact that Victory is just more fun. Since neither series makes any attempt to address gender issues or anything similar, the fun factor is the only reliable gauge of quality. BAV is melodrama writ large, but the pace is such that you find yourself ramming the tapes in one after the other, frantic to see what happens next. At least, that's what I did... Besides, Victory has Mr. Miracle.

I picked up most of the Victory Series when I bought some second hand Anime from someone. I though it was excellent and bought the rest of the series.

Much later I purchased the original series. The original isn't quite as good - probably because it's so short that they don't have enough time to do much character development. It was interesting seeing the contrast between the series and how the characters personalities were changed.

I will admit that the Victory series wasn't quite as good at the end as near the start.
