View Full Version : I have Vol. 1 on DVD already!
The Sixth Child

I promise I really do! It's official release date is 7/23/02 last time I checked but I got mine early. I didn't order it direct from RightStuf. Most of the time I get DVD's from my local comics and collectors shop. I went by there last week on Tuesday 7/9, to get my comics for the month that they hold for me. That day they had just got a new shipment in and Vol. 1 was in my box. Jealous? Seroiusly though I was suprised as anybody. I watched all six episodes as soon as I got home. Hmm.... I was about to talk about the show but that would be a spoiler and I don't want to ruin it for anybody. I will say that this is a wonderful show so far. It is the best anime series I have seen in a while. I'm a guy and I know guys aren't "suppose" to like romantic comedies but I do as long as they are well done and not to sappy and unrealistic. This show is so good it's difficult for me to describe just how good it really is. It has moments that are really funny and also moments that are gut renchingly sad. I thought some of the more dramtic parts just grabed you and were so unforgetable. Hideaki Anno is one of the greatest directors ever. I heard a rumor that his name is just on it and he didn't have much to do with directing but I don't see that. This is defanitly his work. I think GAINAX has another hit on it's hands but I guess people in Japan already know that. ;) Oh, if anybody is still up in the air about getting it.. do because it will be well worth your time.

I pre-ordered through TRSI... and they sent mine with the box last week...
Honestly... the subtitle job is lacking... and it doesnt' even look as crisp as the show looks on LD which is really odd, it makes me question what they were using as masters when they transfered it over....
I'll keep my fansubs of this show over buying the rest of the dvds...
i bought my copy at ax 2002 but the damn dvd is dirty! the sixth episode is screwed up and most of the kanji subtitling only works on the dubbed version. maybe its just bad luck. other than that i love it!

The company I've ordered from have some in stock already so i'll be expecting mine rather soon probably.
The release dates have been quite screwed up everywhere due to constant delays. The license owners Rightstuf have had the dvd and the dvd w/box available for a few weeks on their website.

Has anyone ordered their DVD & Artbox off of Amazon.com?
They had a really good deal on the combo, but... aren't they supposed to ship it on the day it comes out? Because they still haven't shipped mine... Paid for two day shipping and everything...

Nevermind! My order from Amazon arrived almost fifteen minutes after I made that last post. Their site still says it hasn't shipped yet, though... I'll have to get that straightened out.
OMG, I LOVE THIS SERIES. I was a hardcore Eva fan, but wasn't sure if I could get into Kare Kano. It just looked too... girly compared to all the other anime I liked.
I can't believe how wrong I was.
I adore it. I think it's amazing how, even though I don't live in Japan, this is one of the most accurate representations of high school life I've ever seen. It's brilliant. And pretty darn hilarious. :D

I love the show, but it's still really girly.
Really though, I find the best anime is girly.
It's all kind of demasculating sadly. :heh:

I recieved my DVD Box with first dvd yesterday, and I hafta say, after watching the first 3 episodes, that the video wasn't as clear as i hoped. the intro looks great, but the episode video was a bit...well..not crisp, as someone mentioned before.
The subtitle options on the menu are also a bit hard to figure out, but i thought overall, right stuf did a pretty good job on this dvd.
PLUS! You're getting 6 eps on 1 dvd! now thats some value! I can lose a little video quality if i get 6 eps!
I also got it. Hahahaha. It's so funny.
I thought it was gonna be boring, but man was I wrong.
BTW how many episodes are there?
there are 26 episodes all up. Howver the ending isn't really an ending, it just finishes where the manga was up to at that point in time.
One question Gizmo, why did you get it if you thought it would be boring?

Solution: First impressions from people who have heard of Kareshi Kanojo no Jijyou (His and Her's Circumstance) and mistook the anime as another generic "high school romantic comedy".
Once they seen it for the first time, their minds and opinions have changed after one or so episodes.
This is just normal for some viewers who are curious to watch different aspects of anime...I guess...
