Are you talking about the name changes?

edit: If so then I don't really mind as long as they kept the correct ones in the sub.

I pretty much agree with the person above.

yes, but the real issue here is the manga. TPOP is keeping the american nmes for the manga and its upsetting many fans.

I think it's absolute crap that they're still keeping it under the "100% Authentic" label. That's insulting our intelligence. I could give a rat's ass if they want to change names (editing scenes---yes, they're doing this too---gets on my nerves a bit more, but whatever), but to have the balls to call it "100% Authentic" in spite of this...that angers me.

GRR to Tokyopop. I will not be purchasing any Initial D products from them.

as much as I like Initial D I think that what Tokyopop is doing is pointless. Its not an anime that will appeal to everyone. sigh its not good enough to be mainstream

i was walking down suncoast (they have manga now, wow) and happen to see volume 2 of inital D, it doesnt have that grey plastic thing that says "100% authentic manga done the right to left way", so maybe they did take it off their 100% authentic manga line

Good, and I certainly hope the label is removed in any further printings of the first volume.

I'm still pretty disgusted with the company. This isn't the first time they've forsaken their pre-existing market (ie., the fans---you know, Tokyopop, the people who actually buy the merchandise?) for their "potential" market (ie., Joe Mainstream). I hope Initial D fails miserably.

I suppose I should just be really grateful that they didn't decide to push GTO this way. Then I might have had to go on a shooting rampage.

akaflakes, I do believe that's why they skipped the comic release and when straight to Graphic Novel/Tradepaper. Changing stuff... that's just not manga!

I disagree, the Import racing scene is HUGE right now and everyone is saying Initial D this and Initial D that....even the popular Import racing magazines are creating a bandwagon. It'll probably get bigger than any of us would like it to.

true, that one racing magazine called it "the next big animated hit in america...if it was on TV".

anyhow, i cant speak for the manga, but as for the anime, it'll be released in uncut form. [personally, i would have done the same thing if i was TPOP (change the names for a wide audience appeal), if it becomes popular, who knows, maybe americans will start naming their kids 'Takumi' or 'Natsumi', american people with japanese names is the last thing id like to see happening]
