Gundam X

I just saw the first 8 episodes of Gundam X this week, and I really enjoyed. I actually liked it more than Gundam Wing. I like it a lot because there is a lot of focus on Newtypes, which were a major part in the original gundam movies. There's a lot more action than in Gundam Wing, and I think that the Gundam X could beat the crap out of any gundam from GW.
I was wondering if anyone else has seen the series and what they think about it.

I'm really enjoying the series as well...This series has more personallity to it and less philosophical babble to it, and I'm glad to see that these pilots are attracted to women.

When did Gundam X get released? In what position does it sit in the rest of the series? How is the animation?

Gundam X was released in 96 in japan. It hasn't been picked up for any domestic release yet.
In 95-96 Sunrise made like 4 or 5 new gundam series that are alternate universe timelines (Gundam Wing and Gundam X were both alternate universe gundam series). So I don't know really how to explain it's position in relation to the other series'.
I can tell you the back story of Gundam X, though:

In Gundam X there was a big war between Earth and the colonies which eventually led to a colony drop on earth, causing the earth federation to lose the war. After the colony drop, almost all of earth's population was killed and earth basically went into a nuclear winter type thing for quite a few years. Gundam X starts taking place 15 years after the colony drop and earth's climate has returned to normal and it's basically pure chaos on earth since there's no real governments. Just a lot of rogue mobile suit pilots, people trying to survive, and "vultures". Vultures are basically ships on earth that are scavengers, they go around finding parts of the old cities, colonies, and mobile suits and sell them to make money. This is when we meet Garrod Ran, the main character of the series, who is on earth and is an expert on mobile suits (but he doesn't like to pilot them since he doesnt want to die). He is hired by some guy to rescue Tifa Adil from a vulture. In the chaos of rescuing her, Garrod stumbles upon the Gundam X, Earth's secret weapon to use against the colonies in the war.

Wow, that was pretty long. I thought the animation was about the same as the animation in like the first half of Gundam Wing (Good, but could be better).

Yeah, that's about where I am. It's like an episode or two after Garrod almost sells his gundam.
The sattelite cannon is totally awesome, i mean it's blast was made big enough to take out a whole colony in one shot...

And if you wanna get it, you'll just have to search for a fansubber that distributes it or someplace to download it.

Another reason I really like GX is because the main vulture guy (whos name I forget) is totally symbolic for Amuro Ray from the original Gundam. The fights rule, too. Now I just need to see more of it :)

part of why most people don't like GX could be the fact that they don't have all that fancy techno stuff in Gw. however gx is still good cause it has some elements from the orginal gundam shows not present in the other alternative universe saga, Newtypes for example, those who have watched the original gundams shows and movies should be quite familiar with what they are.

Ep 39 was an ok ending to me, it pretty much wrapped everything up

(*sign) I have both GW and GX in Vcd (all ep). And I really like them both. However, I don't think GX could :smash: GW because it is simply too slow. (Think about when GW dodge like .... millions of laser shooting at GW) And there is a ending GX finish. The reasons why GX never became as popular as GW is because the story line is too "straight", (GX just go fight fight fight!) there is no twist and turn like GW. But I think the main reson is that, well, gundam pilot in GW never lost their "cool":cool:. They are usually calm in combat, unlike Garrod:kaioken:, who have to shout and sweat to beat the crap out of his enemy.

Man, Gundam X was awesome, I mean Gundam Wing was pretty cool too, but GX was just better. Or so thats how I feel about it. I mean, in Gundam Wing there weren't enough Gundam Fights, sure they'd blow up a few leos and say we kick @$$, but in GX there are quite a few gundam on gundam battles.

to find eps of gundam x you just got to know where to look on the net. i cant even tell you where to start cause it is against the rules. just look and look. for all things anime you can look at anime web turnpike and it should let you know if it is getting relaesed or not and by who.

I finally saw the "destiny" episode with Heero and I was kind of letdown. Heero is not as reflective as the other pilots, who seem to understand a lot more about the world and themselves.

alright, basic story is the after 1000 years of the space age, people of the earth have forgotten how to travel and space and has reverted back to a more 19th century-ish victorian life style.

While this is happening, the colonist on the moon, who still retain their advanced technology wants to return to earth, failure in negotiation with the warlords/governments of the earth forces moon people to become hostile and they start sending down their mechas.

Fortunatly, a young name named Roland find the "White Doll" Gundam, i think that's what its called, aka Turn A and helps defend the rag tag earth milita

that's what i know far after watching the first 2 fansubs
