A TV anime series is being set in the GitS world. Note the chara design for Motoko looks more girly (i.e. human) than the movie design.

Looks nice, though the pink/purple overall does not look right :p, and the robots don't seem as cool as that spider like beast in the GITS movie, but I will not pass final judgment until I've seen the thing.
Just read about this before and it seems it's already licensed to Bandai. It starts airing during this October's anime season and guess whos doing the music for this?
Yoko Kanno herself
Weeeeeeeeeeeeeee, Yoko Kanno - that positively rules. And after looking at the designes and the screenshots a few times more, I am beginning think that they could look pritty cool in their animated form.
The production of this anime cost twice as much as standard TV series.
As for the website
Updates:
Mondays - images
Tuesdays - designs
Wednesdays - images
Thursdays - designs
Fridays - journal
Not to mention...
1st monday of every month - interviews
2nd monday of every month - character profiles
And the fact there'll be a weekly
column and the movie section...
And as you can see on the site
Based on the official website,

Bandai have this anime already licensed in fact they are partially funding it.

yeah, the fuchicoma's in the manga look way cooler. but at least they've finally put in some, which will lead to alot of kewl action scenes!
And I'll bet we haven't seen all of the toys they have there, I hope there will be some good suprises.

I like the chara designs on this a lot more than in the movie..., Motoko does seem more human here..., there are also the fuchikoma's present as well.., which were missing from the movie altogether...., :D
Hmmm..., I hope that this series goes better than most of Shirow's other anime projects..., aside from the GitS movie (& maybe the upcoming Appleseed movie)..., the rest of Shirow's animated works have been very, very poor.., doing no justice to his manga works at all...,

Good as sold for me!!
Can hardly wait!! :D
Is anyone else concerned with the amount of 3d that is going to be used, I think the movie had a perfect balance of 2d cell animation and 3d, it was very seemeless. Yet I doubt whether or not the budget is going to be enough to produce such quality every episode, I think it will be very similar to Gundam Wing in that you can see which episodes they spent more on.

Why are people so afraid of 3D? You can see (Gonzo) that 3D is really starting to bloom. Sucks to them overpaid actors.

well, Gonzo does it right, at least from what I've seen in Gatekeepers and Vandread. But many of the other anime companies either under-do it or overdo it. And if GITS: Stand Alone Complex doesn't do it right, I'll be SO SO disappointed! Even if I didn't understand everything, I liked the movie a lot!

3D is in the context of the setting, so it won't hurt the integrity of the narrative too much. ;)

I'll give them respect for their work during the introduction of the castle and the castle's inner scenes, but they were just lazy at the end when the ship took off. Give it another look sometime...all they did in most of the shots was take a still frame of the ship and move it up past the background. Of course, if they weren't responsible for it, Gonzo isn't the lazy animator responsible. Some other lazy company is. ;)

It looked so real it seemed that is was built rather than drawn. ;)
I had thought that it was Studio Madhouse who animated it?
Or was that only the original they worked on?
Ghost In The Shell Standalone Complex should be pretty popular (Cowboy Bebop like), simultaneous airing in Japan and America, Masamune Shirow working on it, Production I.G doing the animation, Yoko Kanno doing the soundtrack.
It's either going to be one of the best animes ever, or one of the biggest disappointments in anime. I said the same thing when the hack anime was announced and I'll have to side with it being a disappointment. Hopefully Ghost In The Shell Standalone Complex will be good.

The trailer for this is out. Though the address was slashdotted and thus promptly went off line. There are mirrors popping up around the place but none are stable for long. Everyone wants to see this ^^ Keep an eye out for it, get it if you can, it looks absolutely fantastic!
This series is 26 episodes, I read off the japanese site which Anime Daisuki took it's information from. I coulnt' understand a word but it had the numbers 26 next to it so i'm pretty sure it's talking about the ep count......
Haven't seen the trailer yet since as MDWigs said it went off line quickly.
Did you check the forums Westlo? I found it pretty easily there.
What can I say? It was ------- unreal!!!!! The animation was awesome and so was the music to go with it. This is deffinately gonna rock the house when it comes out

GiTS MMI (english) should be released before the end of the year aswell!

Now all I want is the Wolf's Rain trailer to become available on the net....

They're doing a TV series for Ghost in the Shell?! Sheesh, where have I been?
That trailer looks awesome. Smooth, beautiful animation. Looked a little blurry but that's just my stupid connection. Ahem. Character designs look good, as far as I could tell... and it's nice to see that Kusanagi looks more human!
I'm definitely looking forward to this one. Do you guys know when it's going to be played on Adult Swim?

I've been waiting for this thing for a couple of months already. Sometimes I'd just feel better if they waited on disclosing the information on a new series because it's such a teaser, despite it being a powerful tactic for raising the hype and all. :heh: I can handle though, I think!

There is the possibility that it is its own story completely :)
It is a story in the parallel world to the manga and the movie. Kusanagi does not meet the puppeteer, and the story shows the world where she keeps belonging to section 9.
In other Ghost In The Shell related news
Taken from AnimeOnDVD - http://forums.animeondvd.com/dcforum/DCForumID13/6852.html
A brazillian website today posted that the new Wizard has an interview with Shirow, and he says Oshii is directing GITS 2, and it WILL be Man/Machine Interface. How cool is that?
Now, we all expected that (GITS:SAC's director, Kamiyama-san, hinted at that when i interviewed him - yeah, i like to brag about that, can you tell ), but it's nice to have confirmation.
I just hope they use the same chara design and Kenji's music again.
Also Dreamworks may have invested in this as well.
Heres an opinion I got off AnimeOnDVD but watch the show yourself before you make your mind up. I feared some of the stuff he mentioned would happen though. This is based on the first two episodes.
"Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex - a disappointment?"
Ok, the first two episodes of GitS:SAC have been released on SkyPerfecTV's Pay per view network. I also believe a bunch of people have seen an ep or two at AXNY. Now there's alot of hype surrounding the series, its supposedly the most expensive anime series ever produced, and has what is seen as a top of the line staff listing. Virtually a who's who of anime. But after seeing the first episode, I can't really feel anything other than disappointment.
First, let's get SOME things out of the way. Cartoon Network and Bandai Entertainment's involvement in GitS:SAC stop at the money. Period. The OP is in Japanese, the computer text at the start of the episode are in Japanese, filled with kanji. Everyone speaks Japanese, there's blood, there are Geisha robots, etc. It's still a Japanese anime, and if it has faults, its the fault of the creators and NOT of the "involvement of American companies destroying anime".
Now with that out of the way, why was GitS:SAC disappointing to me? Mostly because it's really really mediocre. The plot presented is uninteresting, action packed, but uninteresting. The characters feel like they're just... walking through the role, if that's even possible for an animated character. GitS:SAC feels much like a live-action TV series of a very popular Hollywood blockbuster, with the cast reunited, with top production values, but without someone asking if it was really needed in the first place.
With Man Machine interface coming up in the future, and with the knowledge that SAC, as its name implies, is a stand alone side story, one cannot help but wonder at where the suspense is. We know that the main characters will suvive, that the world will continue to exist and that there will be no epic or unepic or otherwise suspenseful plot that will keep you guessing. Instead we're presented with what appears to be an episodic "days of their lives" look at Section 9. It doesn't help that the characters aren't really very interesting, that they seem to KNOW that they aren't very interesting and just carry out their jobs with elite professionalism.
The production values of the series are questionable as well. I can easily see that much of the budget has been used on the weaponary, firearms and vehicles of the show. But this also leaves the characters and backgrounds looking rather mediocre, in fact, at times everything feels really dry and dull just so the weaponary or tech stuff stand out. For a series that claims to have "twice" the budget of any other series, the production values are really varied. When its good its REALLY good, when its bad, its subpar. The music is rather nice, but it seems to me that Kanno is trying to aim for a Noir-style soundtrack here, but falls short. Instead of the music jumping out and grabbing your attention like in Noir, the music in GitS:SAC sounds similar but stays in the background.
Yes, I know this sounds rather negative, so what's good about the show? Well, it's a rather mediocre and standard sci-fi action series. It's entertaining on face value alone I guess, but definitely nothing groundbreaking at all. If you liked GitS the movie, you'll probably enjoy the series to some degree. But it really doesn't open any doors for people that are looking for the next big thing in anime at all. Considering all the hype, it might be wise for Bandai to play it lower key in the US.
If anyone else has seen it and have a different opinion, feel free to share, I'll give this series a few more episodes before deciding if I'm remotely interested in the R1 release at all now.
That's a shame. I'm still looking forward to seeing it though. Lets hope Kiddy Grade is better :D
Yeah personally I'm looking forward to Kiddy Grade, Gundam SEED, Heatguy J and Wolf's Rain more than GITS. Though I'm going to watch it before I make up my mind

*after reading westlo's post*
Hmm..., I will definately watch this series..., as it's only one person's opinion of the show..., but.., with Shirow's current track record of his manga being turned into anime (read: most of the anime are shite).., I don't really have much in the way of high hopes anyway...,
Well it's only one person's opinion though I felt he did a nice little review of it anyway that previous post I quoted was based only on the first episode.
Here's Duckroles opinion on the second episode
Ok, just wanted to update my thoughts on the series having seen ep2.
MUCH better than episode 1. Ep2 introduces the Tachikomas (the spider mechas known as Fuchikomas in the manga) with a rather interesting plot about a new Tachikoma seemingly going berserk during a test. If every other ep in future is more like ep2, it might change my mind about the series. Unfortunately, inconsistant production values continue to plague this episode. While the entire action sequence on the highway that's spaced through the entire episode is very thrilling and animated with top notch 2D and 3D CGI, the rest of the animation featuring conversations and other things just scream CHEAP. This ep uses just about EVERY technique possible to save costs, probably because the action sequences were so jawdropping. A pity though, if only they balanced the quality it would have been one of the best eps of anime of late. All in all, it was a good ep, much superior to ep1, but it continues to feel inconsistant and in the end inconsequencial. I still want to know where all that extra yen in the budget is going.
P.S. The Tachikomas are SOOOOOOOOOO cute, and when they talk they're even CUTER! The little extra animation here and there on them really give them alot of personality, which is more than I can say for the rest of the "human" cast.
And here's another person who watched episode one called Turvy
Ok, here's my 2 cents...
After watching ep 1 (aptly titled "a stand alone episode 'Section-9'" (edit : or I could be wrong, and every ep is "a stand alone episode, which would be bad ^^;, which I take to be an introductory episode not connected to the real plot), there's some good and some bad points. Let's see what ducky has to say, and take it from there...
> Mostly because it's really really mediocre. The plot presented in uninteresting, action packed, but uninteresting.
Hrm... The ep itself was not too bad, nothing especially good either, but it got the story (not going to spoil unless people ask me, let's just keep it at "action packed and slightly interesting) across.
Dunno, the style is clean and minimalistic, but I like it. Couple of iffy CGI sequences tho, but that's prolly just my general distaste of over-use of CGI in new anime ^^;;
> The music is rather nice, but it seems to me that Kanno is trying to aim for a Noir-style soundtrack here, but falls short. Instead of the music jumping out and grabbing your attention in Noir, the music in GitS:SAC sounds similar but stays in the background.
I really liked the music a LOT. The op rocks (I think the lyrics are in (at least) 3 different languages or something), and the BGM is exactly what it's supposed to be most of the time, unobtrusive background music that carries the visuals.
I'm going to give it a few more eps for the plot to kick in before giving my final verdict, but at least it made it past the "one ep and I don't EVER want to see ANY of this AGAIN" mark
NOTE TO SELF : square brackets don't show up -_-
And another opinion from someone who has seen the first two eps
i just finished watching the second episode, so my comments only pertain to the first two so far.
while i do think the show's going to work out to be pretty episodic in nature, i don't have a problem with that. it's pretty much what i expect for TV releases as opposed to movies. they may spring something on us later. second episode was definitely superior to the first, and the preview for the third makes it look interesting as well.
definitely looks nice. CG whoring as i expected, but well-done. it's funny how we've come such a long way in seven years. the movie was state-of-the-art in its time and i prefer the effects like the thermoptics in SAC.
mecha look nice, setting looks nice, hardware looks nice. loved saitou, the sniper dood (is he going to be a regular?) and ishikawa's enormous "goo gun" in ep2. like batou's hair but overall i'm not much of a fan of the character designs. that's personal opinion; they're serviceable and look fine for what they are. i liked the CG for cars, tanks, etc., and i liked how it was meshed in, but i found animation for the characters was the one place that really lacked. maybe it was just in comparison to the smooth CG. i don't watch a lot of tv series any more so maybe this is standard, but it definitely seemed to be a ways behind a detailed movie.
sound is good. they managed to get all the original seiyuu back! did they publicize that at all? i wasn't keeping track. while i usually watch the movie dubbed i was really pleased to hear all the familiar voices. again, good attention paid to hardware sound-wise. i like the OP/ED a lot, but the bgm didn't stand out at all. i agree with the comparison of noir-style "battle music". noticed that. although SAC's music is less intrusive than noir or .hack, it's not as good. i miss kawai kenji. kanno youko is a versatile composer, but i think she's out of her element in SAC for some reason.
>First, let's get SOME things out of the way. Cartoon Network and
>Bandai Entertainment's involvement in GitS:SAC stop at the money.

you and i know better, at least. if anything, SAC feels *less* international than the neo-hong kong setting we got with the movie. looks just like ordinary tokyo so far.
i don't know, i came away with a pretty favorable impression. noir's the only tv show in YEARS to get my interest. i think i'm going to keep watching this beyond these two episodes, which says a whole lot.
Of course in a few days time the people who follow fansubs will be able to make up their own opinions on the series but I thought these opinions were well thought out.

Alright!! :D
ANN did an interview with Production I.G the creators of the GITS anime
http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/feature.php?id=97
The first episode is out by AnimeOne
So whats the thoughts on GITS standalone complex from the AB members?
I'll let you know as soon as I find it.
I was going to comment on the first episode earlier, but it's kind of a must-see fansub right now, so not many people will/should miss it.
Of course it looks good (ova qual), going cgi for landscape pans and cars was a good choice. The story is 'political intrigue', though that shouldn't be a big surprise to anyone. We see most, if not all of kusanagi's compatriots, and we see a lot of skin from kusanagi, who wears a particular get-up everywhere (Is it her 'work clothes' (not that kind) or her normal dress?) Not like that's a complaint, but it's kind of weird to have some buxom cybernetic superwoman walking around in what amounts to lingerie, albeit made of kevlar.
Bursts of violence and then talking heads; hopefully the plot in the series won't be too intricate as to require too much explanation.
I didn't really like the music, but it wasn't terrible or anything. It's Kanno right?
It 'feels' exactly how gits should feel like, which is good :P
Whoa, this is great!

I've just watched the 2 released episodes and I like it a lot.
Great animation (drawn and CGI), cool mechas and nice songs (by the way what is the name of the intro song?).
I can't wait to see the next episodes.
*finally finds the episodes*
OK, that rocked. The first episode in particular is everything a Ghost in the Shell anime should be - great action, good story, and subtly philosophical without throwing anything in your face. The second...meh. Better action sequences, but there was a spark the first ep had that this one didn't. The story just seems played-out, although the twist at the end was cool. The did the Fujikomas really well, at least; comic relief is good. I just hope they animate the "rebellion" scene from the manga...God, that was classic.
Great music in any case, though - "Inner Universe" is amazing. I don't know what posessed Yoko Kanno to write it in Russian, but it works really well.
Well now I've seen the first two episodes, I can safely say I'm really enjoying this series. Especially the opening theme song, it's beautiful.
The Tachikoma's are pretty funny. What with the cute voives I wonder?
Well I've got the first episode haven't watched it yet, except for the opening a few times.
As for the opening Inner Universe, it's good but I was expecting more from Kanno.
Anyway the main reason I'm posting here is does anyone know why the 3rd episode hasn't been fansubbed. Has it aried in Japan yet?
Aren't they being aired every two weeks? Maybe longer, I can't remember.
I heard it was airing at two episodes per month.

It airs twice a month... so sometime in November :p.
Anyway... the first two episodes really rocked, especially the second one. I could go on a praising spree but I am going to sum it up with few words - the GITS TV series totally rocks :D (I've watched the 2 episodes aired so far about 5 times, and I just love them).

I saw at last this 2 eps. Even though I like them, there's something I miss from the movie. And it was that you could know wether someone was an android or not.
My flaming quote for this anime....Red eye complex
Woohoo! Episode 3 is out!
Production IG hasn't updated their site about it, and I don't think it's been fansubbed yet, but it's been aired in Japan now :)

I've got the first episode and I must say that it is really good. I'm getting the second episode as we speak :D
just a side note, it has been fansubbed.
I started watching Stand Alone Complex and right off the bat I have to say the opening song is awesome. But about the show, I think I am enjoying it more than the movie (although in all honesty I saw the movie a long while back so I barely remember it). I enjoy the whole android/non-android interaction and how they are percieved in society, while some people accept it as a nessecity (androids seems to be far superior at many things), others still see it as an abomination. It really does a good job portraying how the world would be if and when cybernetics come into play. Well, that's just my two cents.
I got this off a animeondvd thread (http://forums.animeondvd.com/dcboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=19&topic_id=16205&mesg_id=16205&page=2)
curious what people will think of this month's ghost in the shell episodes if anyone else has seen them. episode 3, 'sasayaka-na hanran' (a little rebellion), is another 'stand alone episode' -- another one-shot revolving around an android suicide incident. on the other hand, "shikaku yousu wa warau" (visual appearance will laugh, more or less literally; too tired to give a clean translation but it will make sense after seeing episode 4) is the first example of 'complex episodes', which is to say part of a larger story arc i'll be very very interested to see more of next month. there is an amazing new all-rendered OP sequence for these two episodes. duckroll theorizes (quite reasonably) that they will spend a ton of money on a cool new OP every month. can't say i have any problem with that =) same ED.
the story is picking up and the presentation is still top-notch; if anything it keeps improving with some _very_ impressively animated sequences. the big budget is plainly visible, and i really hope they can maintain these production levels consistently. i did not notice a lot of background music in either episode, but there seemed to be a pronounced absence in #3. the soundtrack is probably on my to-buy list, but if it does not include the op/ed (as seems to be the trend these days) i may give it a miss.
from the preview of next episode i would say the story is getting better and better. while i greatly enjoyed the gits movie, i really like the style of storytelling that the tv format is allowing. the mix of 'stand alone' and 'complex' gives us a greater range of work for the team to explore, and the supporting cast seems to get a larger share of the limited screentime.
someone's definitely got my money.
The opening has a new animation sequence and keeps the song from the first two episodes, while they think they might have a new animation every month I'll go with this theory.
Although the new OP used in episode 3 & 4 looks very gamish as compared to the actual show. I wonder if they opted to use the in-episode footage for episode 1 & 2 because the all CG OP wasn't ready yet?
Story episodes?
All ****in' right! This is so going on the "to buy" list...
Pity, I rather liked the opening animation. Although I did wonder if they'd do something like this, since there was a large amount of animation from the first two episodes.
Yeah I'm suprised they had a story ep so early in the series.
Anyway AnimeOne has released episode 03.
The more I see of this series, the more I like it. Can't wait for the DVDs next year.
Episode 04 is out now as well.
The new opening for the 3rd episode was a lot worse than the first one. If you can't make CGI look awesome with what you're doing it with, why change it to CGI from the years of mastery of animation.

OK, seen episodes 1-4, never read the manga, and I've sadly forgotten the movie. (must rewatch!)
Opening Sequence- Love it love it love it. The song is great. Haunting techno-folk feel, like Earth Girl Arjuna. I prefer the first one to the CG one, but they were both good. I always like the surprise of watching an OP/ED from a new series, so I think its a great idea to change it every month. Its like a present every time! yeah!
Music- The best use of music in GiTS animation was that scene in ep 2 where the beserk tachikoma is reaching out to his parents. That really got me. *sniff* (Reminds me of Roujin Z and one BGC episode) However, I agree with what someone said, there is definitely a lack of background music in a LOT of these episodes. I don't want Kanno's music to overpower the visuals, but I can't even hear it if its not there!
Animation Quality- Excellent. The best animation in a long TV series I've seen up there with X TV and Earth Girl Arjuna. I like the CG integration, no problems. The scene that really made me go "cool!" was when they tackled the suspect in Episode 1.
Character- I'm getting a feel for characters now. And someone mentioned the scantiness of Kusanagi's clothing in her work environment. I couldn't agree more! How can the team have a professional conversation with her when she looks like that? But Kusanagi herself is no bimbo, so I don't have a problem with it. Speaking of that, in Episode 3, when Kusanagi is looking for the hacker making the Jeryy virus, we see a guy put some money on the table and staring at her. Did he mistake her for a sex android? I couldn't help laughing at that, but I think I was misinterpreting the scene. haha, but god the idea is so funny.
At least GiTS: SAC doesn't stoop to the level of focusing on fanservice. Definitely a more sophisticated series than Kiddy Grade.
Plot- Not sure I can comment on this now. I like how its going so far though. I find the conflicts in every episode are pretty well-written and interesting. And I agree with you MANTA on the depiction of technology aspect. I keep thinking about Armitage III and Bubblegum Crisis when it comes to cyborgs/androids and their treatment in society. It seems to me Armitage and BGC really brought the idea to an extreme, and Armitage kinda freaked me out....But it was so good! Now if only Stand Alone Complex can have that kind of effect on me. I'll see.

That's just the impression that particular pattern of fetichist clothing gives me, perhaps a bad first-glance visual impression. I've been expecting through the episodes for her to change her clothes, at least once (I think she does in ep 1, don't remember).
I don't know, is the series finished by now in Japan? Perhaps if not, some comment of this might have reached the production team, and perhaps they changed her clothes at least once in the next episodes.... who knows?
I don't think they will change the opening each month, I think they run out of time to complete the opening and just used scenes from the opening episodes.
GITS SAC airs twice a month on pay tv in japan, I'll say it's alot closer to a OVA series than TV since they are paying to watch it.
I'm disappointed in the music in this series so far but Kanno herself said it was hard to create themes for it. Here's the quote anyway
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I also saw on one of the Japanese Kanno fan sites that there was a press conference regarding the Ghost in the Shell TV series, where Kanno appeared and made a speech. The entire project is an estimated 800 million yen, with a full 26 TV episodes planned. The series will be brought to American and Europe starting spring 2003. Kanno said in her speech that the work is challenging and dense, and difficult to convey the import of the Ghost in the Shell themes (cyborgs, advanced civilization, computer technology, etc.) into music. There were some other parts of her speech, but I couldn't understand them very well. Regardless, I'm sure she is going to do an excellent job as usual.

Aww, no new openings? :( There goes my idea.
Yes, with just 2 episodes a month I wouldn't really consider this a regular TV series. With that budget and time frame, it BETTER be good.
I think I need to hear more of the music to make a judgement. The only music I really like so far are the Opening theme, Ending theme, and the music that played in the Episode 2 climax. Other than that I can't hear a thing! I hope Kanno makes some more striking stuff later, but I can understand the difficulty she was talking about.

But are they supposed to be like that in the manga? Never seen the manga, so I can't tell...
They're even goofier in the manga.
On that subject; I wasn't sure before I saw the series, but now that I know how they're being treated, there's a classic one-page sketch where one of them tries to start a Terminator-style robot rebellion that desperately needs to be adapted for the show.

I finally got the chance to see an episode of this series and have to say that it's the best adaptation of a Shirow work that I've seen so far. It does what every good adaptation whether book, comic, or film does; create something uniquely its own while retaining the spirit and essence of its source material. I can't wait to see more of this series :)
Just saw the fourth episode - the first part of the "complex", the overarching story. Not bad at all; the conspiracy setup is definitely cliche, but it's playing out well, and I'm definitely confused about what's going on.
SPOILERS
I am fairly sure of one thing, though; that official at the end was ghost-hacked. A ghost-hack, on a high-ranking administrator, in the middle of an important press conference, acting against the interests of the consipiracy? I smell the Puppet Master....

Animejunkies are the group that released episode 5 though if you value good subs then give that episode a miss until Animeone or AnimeKraze release their versions.

My sister gave me as a birthday present 2 Witch Hunter Robin VHS (sorry pal, no DVD's here) and they were Anime Junkies (only in Spanish sub, but from Spain), and well I can recall some things:
1)Those spaniards have less idea of what a sub is! Man they chose the worst font, and unreadable one, and also included some things of their own to the translation
2)Openings and Endings cut at some places
3)One episode cut in the beginning, and I mean they didn't even leave some blank space at the beginning of the tape. You put play and the episode already started.
And at the beginning of the episode they said "Thanks to Aku Fansubs". Of course, God creates them, they associate by themselves. I still remember the Aku-fiasco with Fruits Basket.
On topic back again: Episode 5 Kusanagi actually changes her clothes to a nice infantry uniform. Cute.

It was a sex-shop-using-robots and they had some of those robots in question. However, about her sexual orientation, I'm not sure. I've heard in the manga, she has lesbian fantasies. In the series, we also see her in some expensive hotel with 2 other chicks. Frankly, she's just hot.

36 bucks, wich feel like 36 bucks (pocket feeling) but its real value would be something around 10 US Dollars.
Try getting this program called G Spot, wich analizes videos and tells you if you have the codec installed. Or try getting this famous "Nimo Codec Pack" wich is a file containing lots of codecs. Yours should be there.
Nimo Codec Pack Here (http://www.btinternet.com/~nimosiro/)
Gspot here (http://www.headbands.com/gspot/)
Well, changing the logo is somewhat changing the content. Also some covers have been changed for color drawings the manga should contain. All color pages the original releases had, were eliminated, translation is quite bad, and there are no translation nor explicative notes at the end (in difference from the Argento edition wich has what I call the best notes of all manga, wich explains from the Dirac Sea, to Yamashiro and etceteras)
Well, look by yourself...

About the lesbian thing:
Dunno if it came up before, but apparently (so I heard) Kusunagi rents herself out as some sort of female sexual experience. Girls jack themselves into her and she outputs something nice for them.
In the original GitS manga, I don't know if she was an active participant (EVA fiend will have to enlighten me) or just the controller. Haven't read GitS 2 so no idea in which direction this all heads...
Animenation Guru John has seen episodes 7 & 8 of GITS SAC.
Ghost in the Shell TV episodes 7 & 8 were both stand alone episodes. Episode 7 initially fooled me into believing that it was actually as simple as it first appeared to be. Episode 7 was certainly the most violent episode of the series so far. Episode 8 seemed a bit simple and mundane, but watching it in raw Japanese made it a bit difficult for me to understand. Getting to see a lot of tachikoma action made it worth it, though. And we're now up to 8 episodes and only 3 sets of clothes of Ltn. Kusanagi.
Shouldn't be too long until they are subbed.

Funny depending on the situation. It aint funny if that's the ep you've been looking for such a long time, the toughest cookie on your queue, and a 3 weeks dl. And when you see it, you get that. That isn't funny.
But on topic again:

AnimeJunkies (http://d.homelinux.org/animejunkies.jpg)
The animejunkies way is horrible.
Translation, quality of the encode (from the pic it looks pretty average).
The only bad thing about the AK one is the font chosen.
What does the AOne version say in the same scene?

The pics are gone now, but the Aone one didnt say anything about "nekkid kids incidents", I think it was like the AK sub.

Episode 10 was really cool.
Anime-Kraze released a GITS SAC Special, what is it?

This is the only thing I know:
"It's a documentation about GitS and GitS:SAC. It explains who the characters are etc."
I haven't got it yet.

Seems like AK ceded to AonE after ep 10. Beacause AonE 11+12 are already out! And I just found out, the PPV channel in Japan airing the series, something like SkyperfectTV or something, just aired 13 episodes. Seems like that's their source, and that might explain that little blue thing on top-right of the screen... heh

I really love this series but does anyone else notice the huge difference between the relationships between the characters in Stand Alone Complex as opposed to the movie?
The characters also seem to be developing differently. The Batou in the movie, when compared to the one in the series seem like completely separate people. Does anyone know what version holds truer to the original manga? I could also be totally off, so if i am please take the time to tell me how retarded i am.

I really don't know, the only thing I read from the manga were the censored pages. But well, he seems different allright. In the episode when they go after the Southamerican hero, that Batou appears behind a window... well, he resembled to Totoro to me.

 I could not stop laughing when i read that.
Ok getting serious again...
Good i'm glad i'm not alone I thought people were going to come here and tell me i'm crazy. I don't mind the variation in persona's its just seems odd being that I have seen the movie probably about a billion times. I am really tempted to grab the manga now to see what version is closer to the original.
I just watched ep.1-4 and so far it has been really good.
Is the stand alone complex a prequel to the movie or set in a parallel world, and do any of the stories have any relationship to the manga (which I have not read)

A parallel story. After all, the human guy (who had no cyber implants) was new on the movie, while he's a vet on the series.

The movie had very little correlations to the manga...
Stand alone complex gives you the relations the way the manga did...
Even shows part of the humour that the manga had...
I hated the movie... not because it wasn't good...
The movie simply wasn't the manga.... It was completely different... It wasn't shirow...
Shirow would never draw like that... :liplick:

I thought they came out once a week or two weeks in japan?
:liplick:
maybe I'm wrong...
2 per month :)
Another 14 episodes to go... so at least 7 months 'till they're all available.
2 episodes of GITS SAC air a month andboth air on the same day the first.
