Well, I'm sure this has already been posted a million times already, but on the off chance that it hasn't, I thought I would throw it up. I got this from Anime News Service:

"According to a new Japanese Noir Mook (not manga as we had previously reported) it appears there will l be a sequel of "Noir" made. For the moment itīs very likely that the format will be another TV series. Sany, a contributor of info in the past had the following to say on the release in the rec.arts.anime forum about the plans being confirmed:

As you might know, Koichi Mashita, former Noir-director, and BEETRAIN are currently working on the ".HACK//SIGN" series scheduled for April (oh yeah, Yuki Kajiura will also deliver the score for this one), so donīt expect the return of our killing kittens before summer or autumn. "

Of course, it isn't certain whether or not a sequel/movie/ova is for certain, but it is possible. The director has expressed interest in doing more Noir. If this is true, then it will finally dispell all those misconceptions that Kirika and Mireille die at the end ;)

I don't know... I've heard rumours about a second season before, but I haven't seen any confirmation of it. If it is true, I suppose that wouldn't be bad... I still need to get through the first series! :p

Bad news about this topic, from the report on anime expo 2002 on AOD http://www.animeondvd.com/ax2002/hack.php:

Question: Are there any plans to continue Noir as an OAV or movie?

Mashimo: I don't like sequels. The only sequel I worked on is Captain Tylor. That's because my staff works on a project from start to finish. To try to create closure for something that already has closure is redundant. I will not be able to cave into your demands. [Take note all you people that want a Noir movie and/or think it's in the works ;-)]

Sad news indeed :(

That is bad news, too bad I didn't catch that earlier. Oh well. Maybe he'll change his mind about a whole new series, and just make a Noir movie to end it all. That would make me happy. :)

You can't win them all.

Shrugs

Not like I'm expecting a sequel for Noir but to be honest, the ending is enough to convince what happens after the Soldats incident.

I really don't see a continuation possible. Realize that good things should be the way they are. If you try to stretch it, it will break ugly.

err.. I was expecting a sequel.. really.. I was talking to a friend about a sequel to Noir a little while back and he says that there is no point in making a sequel.. there's no point in using the same characters... The only thing that would make sence is if there was going to be a prequel.. not likely but thats the only possible thing to do.. This guy is trying to make Noir longer even though there isn't a point.. Two Noir leaves at the end... one isn't so lucky and.. and there can only be two noirs..

And the who ever made this thread may want to put 'POSSIBLE SPOILERS'... in the thread name..

ARF, can you tell us your idea of what a sequel could be? I don't see any.

I.. really.. have no idea.. the only thing that comes to mind is.. more killing.. and some more killing... For sure Soldats will be involved...

IF it's a...

Prequel:
It could have something to do with Artena, not sure of spelling.. it should example how she become Soldats or it uncovers her past.. and how she became the teacher of Kirika and Chloe..

Sequel:
1. Just another step on uncover Kirika's past.. apparently.. there's a third person other then Soldats involved with her.. this person is more of a bigger secret than Soldats..
2. Same as the first but looking for her true parents.. or at least one of them.. this one seems a bit odd but.. it's just a random thought...
3. Kill the rest of the Soldats for some reason..

This is just what I think.. this is just a bunch of bull I came up with..

edit: I was saying that there shouldn't be a sequel or prequel... it's good as it is.. this post is just a bunch of random thoughts of what it could be..

Personally, I think doing another season of noir would be sort of overkill. A movie would be the way to do it. The girls could clean up the remnants of Soldats and live happily (or not so happily) ever after. I guess that I just want to hear Salva Nos and see the girls kick some ass one more time :) Cheers.

Cleaning up the soldats is just plain stupid.

A organization that has lasted for thousands of years gets mopped by 2 girls. Nope. Sorry.

It is a stupid plan.. like I said in my other post.. they kill them for some reason.. and it's all just random idea of what could happen.. a movie of something would be better but it's kinda hard to top the ending of Noir...

............ them killing all of soldats wouldn't work out.. because that was never their goal in the first place... and they never hunted down soldats for sheer pleasure.. they usually were sent to get something that Soldats has... but a movie may work.. of course it would be some kind of thing where an enemy from one of Kirika's or Mirielle's or even Chloe's past comes along and it's about them remebering their childhood and crap...

First of all, chill out everybody! :) That was just my idea for the premise of a Noir movie, there are infinitely better possibilities out there. Secondly, how can you be so sure that Soldats couldn't get wiped out by the two girls? It's age has nothing to do with it. The girls ARE Noir! They are unstoppable. And besides, they wouldn't have to kill every single person in Soldats (that would be ridiculous and unbelievable), just the head honchos. Anyway, I'm out. :) Cheers.

Salva Nos actually means "save us".

And there is not going to be a Noir sequel, Koichi Mashita said so himself at the Anime Expo. From the reports at AoD:

Question: Are there any plans to continue Noir as an OAV or movie?

Somehow, I don't think a sequel is needed either. I'd rather have a prequel.

a Noir sequel wouldn't be worth it without Chloe... and it'd be terrible for them to bring her back. so they're better off trying not to take a good series too far...

A prequel wouldn't do quite well either.

Think about little 5 year old girls waving pistols and killing innocent families. Nope. Don't think it'll do too well.

Haha.. not going to happen but I wouldn't mind watching a couple of 5 year olds killing people.. I think it's a funny idea... muhaha

I dont see where they could put another series/movie/ova. The series wraps it up all to well. It would be like another Eva series set after the movie. Its just got no place to be.
