I think most of us will agree that there are many basic similarities between Urusei Yatsura<-->Ranma 1/2<-->InuYasha
But there are many differences as well...
Aside from making a different story, I believe Takahashi made these differences in order to improve her new Anime, and that she based them on lessons she learned from her previous Anime.

I'll try to explain with examples...

I haven't seen much Urusei Yatsura, only 4 episodes, but I believe Takahashi got to the conclusion that making a main male character with a BIG interest in women wasn't a good idea and so Ranma was made (with no real interest in girls...).

After making so many Ranma 1/2 episodes I think Takahashi got to the conclusion that it might be better if it had a plot ...
and so InuYasha was made :D (with very plot-based episodes...).

Do you agree?
What's your opinion?

Indeed she is. Seems like she also learned from UY to make the characters who`re supposed to look good, actually look good (*kidnaps Lum, goes postal and slamdunks her into a pool of molten steel*), resulting in the general distractivnes of Ranma½.

From watching all of Ranma½ (except for some 22 episodes of season 7) and pretty much all Inuyasha that`s been released, it`s become apparent to me that Takahashi doesn´t do "succesfull romances" too much. This lead to a lot of frustration on my part while watching Ranma½, but it can be noticed that the romance in Inuyasha has been doomed from the start and has no future (she enjoys torturing the audiance or something :) ). Errr... damn, went into incoherrent ranting again.

Doomed? No future? hmm... why so? I assume ur referring to Kagome, Inuyasha & Kikyou? I wouldn't say it's doomed (at least, i hope it isn't headed towards that direction :sweatdrop)... I love the complexity of the love triangle that Takahashi-sensei has come up with .... it does keep the audience speculating... and yea... in a way... it's torturing us audience too... ;)

Ok then, do you think Inuyasha is going to be living in the future or Kagome is moving to the feudal age for good?

That`s what I mean by doomed.

The Miroku/Sango one (which is a bit "let's make two totally different people who have nothing in common fall in love for no apparent reason to make the show more intresting"ish) is not bad, though. :)

I don't think it would cause any trouble (in the feudal age) if Inuyasha were to move to the future...
Though I'm not sure how will people accept him over there
and I wonder how he could make a living...

I'd think Kagome will fit pretty well in Sengoku Jidai, rather than Inuyasha fitting into the present day. And, his pointy dog ears will be hard to conceal  ... Besides, Inuyasha might not even end up with Kagome... he could end up with kikyou... or nobody at all.. or even both.... if Takahashi-sensei could come up with a way to combine Kagome & Kikyou into one... since they share the same soul... But that's all speculation...

Takahashi has definitely improved after decades of making manga. However, I think she just wants to try something different from time to time, hence the Mermaid Saga and Inu-Yasha.

She still retains her trademarks though. And I don't think her artistic style has varied that much since she began making manga. She's been pretty constant compared to Watase for example, who has really refined the way she draws over time.

Well, Inu Yasha might learn to controll his changes, so he can be human all the time nd live with Kagome that way. Kagome would never live in the feudal age; no education.

someone told me once that he can use the shikon no tama both ways...to beomce a full demon or to become a full human. is this true? cuz if he could use it both ways than at the end of the series when theyve fixed miroku's hand and everyone goes off to live happily ever after couldn't inuyasha just use the shikon to turn into a full human and then go live with kagome in the present? the only thing he really hav eto change is his style of clothing and he'd probably hav eto get used to technology and whatnot.

Yes, Inuyasha can become a full human, he was going to with kikyo, but then the event of Naraku happaned. Also Kagome wouldn't live in the federal era, becuase she has too many things in her era thats important to her, such as school, family and friends.

In some ways it's difficult to "improve" upon all-time classics such as Yatsura, Maison Ikokku, Ranma 1/2, Fire Tripper, ...

She does all things well, this is just her most recent endeavor.
