I just finished watching the series, alot more make sense since I have seen it all but I still don't understand it all.

It is a fantastic series and I think that I will have to watch it all again to understand it all. The connection between Nagi and Toka I didn't really get; we see Nagi older then we see her younger. Which one is the present?

I might figure it out by myself, I will have to wait and see.

I have watched it again and I understand ALOT more of what is going on. It really is an amazing series.

What I would like to know about is in the directors commentary, it is mentioned that there is a Live action movie and novels. Are these available in english speaking countries and under what titles?

the live action film is a 2000 release titled Boogiepop and Others (or Boogiepop Never Laughs), and as i am set to believe, most of it takes place before the majority of the events in the animated series. it is available on DVD to import, though there's no available release with English subtitles.

the novels, on the other hand, are the original works written by by Kouhei Kadono (illustrated by Kouji Ogata), in which the film and series are based off of. titled, as follows:

Boogiepop wa Warawanai - Boogiepop and Others
Boogiepop Returns vs. Imaginater PART 1 "SIGN"
Boogiepop Returns vs. Imaginater PART 2 "PARADE"
Boogiepop in the Mirror "Pandora" - Does anybody really know what time is it?
Boogiepop Overdrive Waikyoku-ou - Heartbreaker II
Yoake no Boogiepop - Boogiepop at Dawn
Boogiepop Missing Peppermint no Majutsushi - Peppermint wizard, or Rize and fall of poor innocent puppet
Boogiepop Countdown Embryo Shinshoku
Boogiepop Wicked Embryo Ensei
Boogiepop Paradox Heartless Red

unfortunately, the novels are also not available in English translation -_- ..i would kill for these changes to be made.

Thanks for that info. It sounds like the novels might help us understand it all a little better.

An example is Lord of the rings. People have seen the movie want to know more about it. There is so much more info in the books and it makes alot more sense if you have read the books. The movie alone does not give the full story.

i agree.

as for giving you a bit more info though, i've come to understand {though certainly could be mistaken} that the film is based on the first of the novels, and the anime series is only selected sections out of some of the novels. we're missing over 50% of the true story of Boogiepop.

yea... from what ive seen it looks like the movie might be more of a literal translation -if you will- of the first novel. From hearing about it i just got the sense that it was closely related to the books content.
Boogiepop seems to be its own peice of art i guess... kind of hard to explain. Im so curious to see how the novels are presented.

It doesent really help too much but I will keep looking.

This site is pretty good too.
