Well I finally obtained episode 1 of Kare Kano today and sat down to watch it.
Anyhow, the beginning intro music type thing, while a little strange, what with people flying through clouds and all, was nonetheless amusing and fairly enjoyable.
Then the actual episode started.
Well... what can I say... it was great! Quite funny, especially how whatshername "Miyazawa" or something, was talking with wahtshisname "Arashima" or soemthing, and she was beign all polite and all, but they kept showing her actual thoughts. Those parts were great, very well done.
There seemed to be alot of SD going on, but that seemed to suit the program. The program also seemed to psycho-analyse whatshername alot, well for this episode anyway, but again, it was done well.
Anyway, overall, very enjoyable, so I'll probably get more now hopefully.
I m ust sit down and watch the rest.....I got the entire seires in one hit, and watched through to episode 20 without a break. And never got round to watching the rest.........
You are right about the 'psycho-analysis'. But, that's only natural. The title in ENglish is: His and Her Circumstances, so you'd expect Him and Her to be analysed
As for the animation, Gainax came up with lots of interesting ways to present the series......Wait till you get up to the episode made entirely with cut outs :)

Cut outs?
Well, sounds interesting to me. :)
I'm looking forward to seeing more of it soon.
There are ways of getting it quickly and cheaply ..... ;)

Really? Tell me more about these "quick and cheap ways". ;)
Also, you watched 20 episodes in one sitting! Isn't that like six or seven hours or so? Wouldn't that like hurt your eyes or something?
Quick and cheap way.....Come to AJAS and borrow it from me.

For Serekith - I think you're referring to Miyazawa Yukino and Souchiro Arima. Gainax's approach is both a romantic comedy and the in depth psychoanalysis for all characters.
Without spoiling the series for you, expect hilarious moments with apocalyptic exaggerations and the controversial "cut outs" in a few episodes...

Hilarious moments, apocalyptic exaggerations, AND controversial cut outs! I can't wait!
Oh, and Schizm, just wondering, where or what is AJAS. Is it something I should know about? Or is it soemthign I would have never heard of? Anyways, sounds good to me.

AJAS is the Adelaide Japanese Animation Society......A weekly screening of anime at UniSA's City East Campus. 5.30-9.00PM on Tuesdays. It is members of AJAS who were responsible for thinking of, organising and running the AVCon. There are (were) a number of AB members who attend weekly.

Ah, so it was them who were running the AVcon.
So there's an anime society thing in Adelaide. I wonder why I never knew... must have been passed out or somethign everytime it was mentioned.
Well, sounds interesting.
What's this about AB members were attending weekly. They just sudden;y disappeared for soem strange reason. Perhaps they said something bad about anime in front of the wrong people and were taken care of . ;)
Or whatever.

Oh! Yeah, sure. Didn't realise we had gone off topic so quickly.
Right! Back to Kare Kano!
Oh yeah, I was wondering, does the story sort of expand a bit beyond the two main characters, as in, I know they're the main characters, but are there any other characters involved in the story as well that haven't been introduced yet?

Yes. To the point where it is a bone of contention amongst some viewers.

Really? How so?
Also, after rewatching the episode again, I noticed a decidedly evil looking person standing in the background after Miyazawa gets the top score in the test.
It was only for a second, but she was the only one in colour, whereas the rest of the people were kind of blurred out in that shot, so she kind of stuck out.
Also, what's with the intro? Not that it's bad or anything, but they are FLYING through CLOUDS at one point. I just find that disturbing... or weird... or something...
The song is pretty good though.

I'm too lazy to look over the entire thread again. :sweatdrop
What episode is it? Me thinks you skipped to the part when we get to know Yukino's classmates and one of the girls are rather jealous of her "100% top marks, very presentable demeanor et al".
From Serekith again :p...

The song is pretty good though.Just a light-hearted side of the main charactersand the relations to others, especially with family and friends.
Have you ever tried hearing and singing Yume no Naka e?

Can't say I have. Although... er, never mind.
Oh yeah, and it was the first episode I was reffering to.
The endish part of that episode where he comes to deliver the cd and she jumps out with the umbrella was just hilarious though. The look on Arima's face when he's holding the cd... Ah, hilarious.
