Well I missed the first release of this title. I watched chronicles earlier this year and enjoyed it, but just didn't see what all the fuss about this series was. After watching the OVA's I have a new appreciation for this story. Just good anime. I finished disc one last night and hope to watch the second by this weekend.
Just wanted to say I liked it :D

I haven't seen the series, but I did just watch the OVA. Yes, it *is* very good. ^^ I wish they had characterized a few people a bit more though.

Well I feel I just have to put in my input, I really liked the OVA's of this show but the TV series just didn't have enough punch. I still really liked the TV series but it could have been done a bit better done, especially the end of it.

The only real problem the Tv series faced was insufficient time and money to complete the real story of Lodoss War, which had already been established in the 7 Record of Lodoss War Novels that had been written earlier. At 13 episodes, the OVA simply couldn't tell the whole story, which is why the TV series erases the events of OVA episodes 9-13 (the ones that don't follow the novels) and tells it the way the novels did.
Unfortunately, even a good 27 episodes simply wasn't enough to put 4 complete novels in. There is so much missing that you can potentially see by reading the Chronicles Manga.
Still, for what it was, the TV series was good. Not as good as the OVA, but it was a good series, and captured just enough of the novels to give you the main events of the original story.

Whoah I never knew about the novels before. Anyone know of a place on the net that I could buy them? My city is too crappy to have a manga store and the manga that we do have is very limited in other book stores.:(
