I got the 2 disc OST. It has lots of tunes from the series. It is sort of dance/techno. It is really cool.

There is another soundtrack called Boogiepop and Others. I havent got that one.

I got my boogiepop OST from Tamarket. It cost me $70 for a original japanese CD. It would be cheaper to get it from America, because it was released there. Go to the Rightstuff website or amazon.com to get it.

I don't think the whistle is on the OST. Most of the other music is though.

One of my friends picked up the SUPACOOL new boxset that came out and it included the 2-disc OST and the "inspired by" CD. I traded him my spankin' new FLCL boxset for the week so I could sit down and listen to these tracks and see how they sound.

I may have found my newest favorite anime soundtracks!

The context of the anime doesn't allow these to get played fully (as is the case in most animes) and I was really, really surprised at how excellent the music (http://animenation.com/cds-anime-music-boogiepop-phantom.html) is by itself. I prefer the OST over the "inspired by" CD by a small margin.

Everything on the first disc is awesome with the exception of track 2 "In Heaven" which is extraordinarily awesome and track 4 "Gataway" which is only good. I love everything equally on the second disc.

I haven't listened to the "inspired by" disc enough to really pick out the good ones, though while I listened to it at work I got the impression I liked the first and last thirds of the disc more than the middle.

These CDs are my next anime music purchases.

Can you buy the Inspired By CD seperately?

Not that I need to, since I got the aforementioned uber boxset. And agreed, those soundtracks kick ass. The Inspired By CD is really good for just relaxing to. You can just zone out.... :smokin:
