I was just informed of this from someone and it absolutely sickens me! This man is completely ripping off from Evangelion. It even mentions on his site that he "based" it from anime.

The list of examples is too long, but here are a few examples from this hack:

"In the year 1994, a giant meteorite impacted with the Wuhan prefecture in China. This disaster instantly sparked a massive conflict that became known as World War Three. Six years later, the war ended as suddenly as it began, leaving the world to recover from the brink of destruction. The official explanation for the Wuhan disaster provided the people with the answer they expected, and the nations returned back to their peaceful hibernation of rebuilding after the war. America was left badly damaged from the worldwide confrontation, with most of its coastal cities abandoned for the new metropolis that were built inland.

The year is now 2021 A.D., and the peaceful calm is suddenly shattered by the appearance of the "Xenoframes", a race of advanced, cybernetic entities hell-bent on the destruction of the world. The only thing that stands in their way of conquest is the organization Nova and their Revenant robots. Piloted by a small group of inexperienced teenagers, these giant machines are the only means of destroying the approaching alien threat, which will stop at nothing to fulfill its insidious task.

The Xenoframes attack randomly, and take upon different shapes and forms with every passing attack. Their offensive and defensive capabilities change at random, but it's clear that the Xenoframes become more powerful and advanced with each defeat. Although very little is know about them, the Xenoframes always attack one at a time and can only be destroyed when their core is breached or damaged. Conventional weaponry is no match for the hard exterior of a Xenoframe, so the Revenants must engage in close combat to destroy the enemy's core. The Revenants have a limited array of weapons at their disposal, but it quickly becomes apparent that they're innefective against the repeated attacks by the Xenoframes.

The Revenants utilised by Nova are just machines, and thus, they are as limited as their designated pilots. They're not invincible, they don't have a magical protective field, and they can be destroyed easily by a Xenoframe. The teenage pilots that control the Revenants are not heroes intent on saving the world; they are human and they are afraid of the enemy; they are ambivalent to the duty that they have been entrusted. Every day is lived as if it was the last, and the peace lasts only until the next Xenoframe attack. Then the facade of innocence is shattered in a blinding instant, and humankind is forced to battle its greatest foe.

This is the world of the future. This is the world of REVELATION."

And then there are some of the organizations involved...

"The Savior Underground
A secret organisation who always hides in the shadows, making sure not to be noticed until the time is right. With no official links to any worldwide organisation, military or otherwise, the Savior Underground nurtures its own agendas for the immediate future. It bears the distinct qualities of a large terrorist group, but their real motives are never made clear until in the very last moment, when it would be too late for anyone to stop or interfeer with them. Even though it is not an official military faction, the Savior Underground somehow conforms to the hierarchy of a martial force."

Savior, eh? Oh, this definately doesn't remind me of Seele at all...

And then one of the pilots...
"Jessica Hayes is the third pilot to be chosen to be sent to Nova, distinguished by her golden blond hair and green eyes. Her supermodel good looks have gained her a cult following at her school, and heads are bound to turn whenever she's around. However, her attractive exterior only hides her brash and loud personality, which directly contradicts her usually stereotypical portrayal as the sweet and innocent "girl next door". "

Need I go on? The worst part about it is, he's making a profit off of it!

Any legal experts here? This guy has to be stopped. Few things make me angry. Plagerism is one of them...

While it does borrow heavily from the Eva concept, it's still it's own story albeit a dull and warmed over version of the Eva concepts in the vein of Candidate for Goddess

Interesting...., I'm sure that http address was originally to that Evangelion Revelations fanfic that everyone was talking about a year or so ago...,
If that B&N link is legit (& it looks like it is)..., it looks like this guy's tweaked his original Evangelion fanfic into this 'new' story..., hmmm..., :dodgy:

Whats wrong with a guy basing a story on an anime? Did anyone stop Anno since his Evangelion shares some striking resemblences to older Tomino animes?

The list of examples is too long, but here are a few examples from this hack:

In the year 1994, a giant meteorite impacted with the Wuhan prefecture in China. This disaster instantly sparked a massive conflict that became known as World War Three. Six years later, the war ended as suddenly as it began, leaving the world to recover from the brink of destruction. Maybe he watched Deep Impact, maybe he watched Macross/Robotech.

Giant alien ship lands on earth, world war erupts - Macross/Robotech
Giant Meteroite hits earth, world war erupts - This Revelation

Having a natural disaster happen has been done many times before and is not something Evangelion came up with. I've seen the anime Scryed been called an Eva rip off because it's based a certain amount of years after a diaster. Complete rubish, but let's see what else is similar.

Oh my god it's set in the future and invaders attack the earth and only a handful of teenagers piloting mechas can destroy them.

Geez that was cliche before Evangelion was made.......

That full on ripped off the Angels from Evangelion, I'll give you that

The Revenants utilised by Nova are just machines, and thus, they are as limited as their designated pilots. They're not invincible, they don't have a magical protective field, and they can be destroyed easily by a Xenoframe.

That's like the complete opposite of Evangelion

The teenage pilots that control the Revenants are not heroes intent on saving the world; they are human and they are afraid of the enemy; they are ambivalent to the duty that they have been entrusted. Every day is lived as if it was the last, and the peace lasts only until the next Xenoframe attack. Then the facade of innocence is shattered in a blinding instant, and humankind is forced to battle its greatest foe.

This is the world of the future. This is the world of REVELATION."

Actual humans? geez thanks to Evangelion we now have actual people piloting mechas instead of trained solderies I mean Amuro Rei from Mobile Suit Gundam was a trained soldier..oh wait he wasn't um bad example. Hikaru/Rick from Macross/Robotech was a badass pilot when he started in mac...oh wait he was a civilian um......

Oh a secret organization which has no ties to any worldwide organzation, damn you Anno if it wasn't for you their would be no more of these secret organizations popping up everywhere shakes fist

The girl from Gunbuster? You know the prototype Asuka perhaps? I mean Asuka was surely the first character to ever be like that....

Need I go on? The worst part about it is, he's making a profit off of it!

Well I have to say this is really similar to Evangelion, but it's slightly possible that he got these ideas from other animes and if a thing like a court case ever happened and if this guy did his homework he could prove it. Evangelion was hardly original itself.

Any legal experts here? This guy has to be stopped. Few things make me angry. Plagerism is one of them...

Well, from the extracts posted, it is reminiscent of NGE. Has to be said the vocabulary used isn't too bad. And it'd probably make a good read if you haven't experienced Eva yet.

On the other hand, if you have seen Eva like many posting here, it does seem like a bit of a rip-off (of Eva and maybe a few other anime/hollywood movies). The plot feels like an unoriginal rehash, with virtually no new ideas at all. How about:
Pilot Jessica Hayes-50 yr old World War 3 veteran. She has one eye only, having lost the other from friendly fire in the war. Currently a professor in bio-engineering, she secretly wants the Xenoframes to succeed in their tasks-for she hides an unnatural hatred for humanity.....
or something.

On the old Neon Genesis Evangelion site (www.evangelion.com) they had a link to a site entitled 'Revelations' or something.. it was quite a while ago. Well... on the site. It was talking about something called 'Evangelion: Revelations' where it's like the Future of EVA. There are these mecha called 'Saviors' and there are also EVAs named: EVA-Alpha, EVA-Gamma, EVA-Beta, EVA-Omega, etc. Rei and EVA-04 are in it.. I'm not sure what the hell this was.. a Fanfic or ----, but it did look very fake like this Revelation: The savior A... site but a lot better.. There were pictures of actual EVA's fight angels. I would attach a pic but it's on my other computer (it's real pic y0)

the characters in this Revelation is different. The Units are different and there are no EVA. The site I was referring to in the beginning of this thread was a lot better. Even had Angels, some look real and lots fake. Also weapons and the pics of the Saviors (look crappy) EVA and characters (all look crappy).
It also said about how many cameras and how many times it has gone berzerk. Saviors are designed to not go berserk.

unit colors: silver (04) green (alpha or gamma forgot) orange/yellow and a bunch more..

Evangelion has a pretty damn good plot, and if this person had seen it (which they would hav if they copied it, directly or not) then it would hav made it difficult to think up more original concepts... as evangelion doesnt leave any mind unchanged after it has been seen.

Yeh, he's unoriginal, but great things are usually used as a basis for new ideas.

Fair enough him making his own sort of version of NGE.. but getting money from it? well as we say down here in vic...
"thats just not cricket.."
if he wants money, he should come up with something truly original..

jus lookin at that site now.. hehe the people look kind of funny.. their legs make up 80% of their mass.. like a pair of legs with some shoulders on top. hehe

i'm not sayin i could do better (which i might be able to do) but from what i can tell, the animation of NGE and many other Anime series' is much better.

When I did a search on Evangelion Unit Gamma after reading GiZMO's post on Google it pulled up the address for the place we have here. What it looks is that the authors decided to just use the basic Evangelion plotline and ideas that had in that fan fiction and adapted it for their own purposes and uses.

Personally I have no problem with an artist doing this sort of thing, in fact Evangelion if anything is nothing more than an update of the original Gundam. However I have a problem with something if it's dull and slavish to the source of inspiration as well as trying to toot it's own horn as to how great it's author thinks it is as is the case here.

*yawn* I don't get what the big deal is. A lazy fanfic writer decided to write a dull story using some of the biggest cliches in anime because he couldn't think of anything original. Since when was this new? I'm not gonna go crazy on it, its not like this kinda stuff hasn't been done before.

Moments like this, I thought it was some fanfic. After looking over the site, its reeks of unoriginality and the usual standard cliches from Shinseiki Evangelion. This doesn't have much to offer even though the author based his ideas on the legendary anime itself.

Plus, it doesn't have that feeling (you know, that indescribable moment when you first saw Evangelion), that emphasis, that psychological thinking...

This guy doesn't deserve praise let alone be appluaded for his lack of talent and originality.

Note to self: Be a smart ass to sign his 'Revelation' site guestbook and praise all things from the almighty saviour: Hideaki Anno :naughty: :littledev

Nadesico is a parody of all well-known anime from the time it was created. It ain't no rip-off from Evangelion, so what's wrong with satire of the genre?

Parodies are Excel Saga doing la Cowboy Bebop, that made me laugh a lot. As I like eva too much I always looked with suspicious eyes everyone taking even the littlest thing from it and using it over and over. That's just me, I understand people not agreeing with it, because my views on the matter are totally radical and subjective.

If I remember how it was before...I don't think it was a rip off perse of Evangelion, but I believe people complained that it looked like an exact mirror of EVA-R. At least that is what it seemed like when I read it, cause I think we're talking bout the same website.

ROFLMAO, how about this:

The Revenants are awe-inspiring machines capable of holding off the advances of the god-like Xenoframes. But without their own dedicated pilot, the REVs would be next to useless. Only a small number of teenagers born after World War Three are capable of "completing" a REV through a dedicated mind like. The mysterious "Zion" gene has found to be the key in synchronising with a REV, and these few selected teenagers have been entrusted with the fate of the world as they pilot their giant robots against the endless attacks by the Xenoframes.

Oh and here is a pic from the site, jee I wonder what it is?

http://www.revelation.cyril.com/char/c1.gif

Dam they need to be sued into hell!

"They're not invincible, they don't have a magical protective field, and they can be destroyed easily by a Xenoframe."

Now why would they put this in I wonder?

I happened to own printed copies of Evangelion Revelation and I must say it kinda made me sick. It's a carbon copy of the fiction, close to 99% of it is exactly the same. All he did was change the names and revamped the story. Even the address is still the same. I used Google and checked their cache of the site and it's Evangelion Revelation. If you look hard enough, using exact sentences from the novel, you can find a text version of EVA-Rev. Now tell me THAT isn't plagarism. Use Google to find this exact line "As the Transporter continued". Find the cache that leads to Episode 1 of EVA-Rev. Then go to the official site posted at the beginning of this thread and download the first excerpt for Revelation: The Awakening. Read through it and tell me what you see. You will be surprised.

This anime you are talking about was written by P******.
P***** had a really good fanfic called Neon Genesis Revelations.
This had new evas, the saviors and angels 18 -32. this was good. i recently went back to the site and now there is a crap rip off of Revelations! Sorry P****** but you really have disappointed me :(
For all the people that have read Revelations, you would agree with me that it was a good story, maybe even better than NGE.

I was looking back through this and it really is sad how slavish and dull to its inspiration that it is. I mean there are series that are Eva clones out there already but these clones at least have something new or interesting to offer or are their own spin on the ideas presented in Eva. Heck this isn't worthy of being called an American Eva. I really feel that had this guy tried to do his own thing rather than just make a sad Eva clone he may have done something interesting.

Patrick first fanfic Neon Genesis Revalation was a bit better than EVA-R which has a Evan crossbred between Unit 01 and Unit 00 with 5 eyes, at least Patrick came up with Unit Alpha, Beta, Gamma and Omega. Plus the Saviors which made the story a buit better. I liked Revelations a lot, I'm very disappointed in Partick with his new work
