anyone seen hellsing?

okay for anyone who has seen the hellsing dvd series.i need a lil help on this...
last weekend my husband and i went to Nan Desu Kan.we did buy a couple dvds of anime.one of which was the 1st dvd of hellsing.now i have been really amped about seeing hellsing for a while now.but after watching this 1st dvd, it was kind of a letdown to me.:( the plot was kinda slow.nothing too exciting (yes seras we can see you cant get yourself to eat.)and the religous stuff got a bit much on my nerves.thats too much i think eek.its like happy bible class in between every attack. eek!please please if anyone has seen the 2nd dvd and so on tell me does it get better? is there more action in the 2nd dvd and so on? does alucard do more kewl shapeshifting and vampiric abilities?does that religious stuff stay the same or chill out some?wheres the action,the insanity! :P lol. the animation was good,and yes i thought alucard was cute (obviously because he looks exactly like my husband! o.o) but can somone please lemme know if its worth continuing on this series or will i be tormented some more? 0.o

I am going to say this..............YOU NEED TO GET THE SECOND DISC!!:D The second DVD has plenty of action in it, with a little to no religion references here and there. Plus Alucard shows off some of his powers which I thought was really cool. I thought that the Blood Brothers were a funny duo. Not really much advances in terms of plot wise however, but their is a alot blood and gore to go around, even the buttler gets in on some of the action!! So, I would go ahead with it. You won't be sorry!:) I haven't seen the third one yet...I am watching that one tonight. So far, so good!

i say get the second disc, it gets better IMO. (but i heard from people that the last episodes were a let down :()

Maybe not, I have seen the whole thing and yeah a lot of the stuff thats putting you off is there to stay. I mean give it another shot if you like, but it doesn't massively improve at all. The christian imagery is there to stay, the actions not as heavy as you probably expect. But personally, I like it.

I've seen it all and I'm also collecting the DVDs and I think it's one of the best animes I've seen in a while. Hellsing ROCKS MY SOCKS!!

I've seen it all and the religious stuff remains and probably gets turned up a notch as things progress. It never gets preachy or long-winded, but you have to understand that Hellsing is a Christian organization, so they are going to do their thing differently.

Yep, 14 dvds, 13 episodes. Personally I think that they could've fit it all on 2 dvds, but oh well.

I just hope the sequel comes out soon!!

Personally, I've only seen the first DVD, just as you have. But I've heard from a lot of people (on Anime Boards, from online friends, and offline acquaintances) that the show is amazing, and that there is the "religion" factor in the series, but that the show is well worth watching.

Is buying the dvd at the net good or not...?

Hmm.. because the Anime of Hellsing is only 13 episodes long you can't really expect much of a story. Much of it was pointless, although it was interesting. You would have to read the entire manga, but you'll have to wait a while because it hasn't been translated (yet?)

I can't say that one can compare the manga and anime as I was made to understand that the anime went for a more "dark" and "serious" tone than the manga (this I gather from the excellent www.hellsing.nu site).
