OK, there's a lot of them :)

1. Both Kagome and Miaka are in their last year of Jr. High studying to get into a prestige high school

2. Both fight with a bitchy enemy over the man they love...and this enemy used to be friends with them (does having the same soul count as being friends...probably not)

3. Both parties have really cute youngest characters :kawaii:

4. Miaka and Kagome both fall for a preson with some demon in them (In the manga Tamahome has the symbol of demon, not ogre)

5. Both guys they fall for start out egotistical and immature, yet swear they will "always protect them"

if you can come up with more, tell me.

I don't know, I think you really have to dig for FY-Inu Yasha similarites.

Personally, I want Kagome to be as DIS-similiar to Miaka as possible. That whiney-@$$ baby could never compete with Kagome. Don't get me wrong, I love FY and Miaka is all right, I just don't think I would even like Inu-Yasha if Kagome was complaining, obsessed with her love life, and breaking down under crisis again and again...

I prefer Inu-Yasha over Tamahome as well, even if Tamahome is more bishie...

I never thought of those similarities though, good points.

EDIT: Plus Yuu Watase and Rumiko Takahashi have incredibly different manga styles. I could never imagine them in the same sentence. Watase is VERY girly with romance, insecure heroines, etc. Takahashi has action, a different type of comedy, and doesn't draw in the shoujo manner. Its just so hard for me to envision similarites. Personal bias I guess.

Actually I found Inu Yasha more like Blue Seed than FY. Inu-Yasha reminds me alot of Kusanagi and they are both sorta 1/2 demons (technically Kusanagi is a full aragami but he was once human) and in both they are searching for little objects enbedded in demons (mitama for Blue Seed and the shards of the crystal for Inu Yasha).

The stories differ alot more but the general concepts seem similar to me ^^; I saw some of Inu Yasha before I saw Blue Seed and when I finally saw Blue Seed it reminded me alot of Inu Yasha

What you summed up where magical girl similarities. I could just as easily link Escaflowne and Van to IY and FY, Dog-boy and Tamahome respectively.
And Tamahome has the mark of the oni on his forhead. Oni = demon/orge translations differ on interpretation, etc.

Doggie never swore anything. He just said he'd protec a human. It doesn't just apply to Kagome but it does include her.
True they both (Doggie and Tamahome) fight harder for the one they love but Van did the same. Hell even in Sailor Moon .. wait .. I really don't want to start about Sailor Moon ^^;;.

Anyway I drift farther and farther from the point, I'd better stop now.

Kagome is waaaaaaaaay better than Miaka. Kagome does not constantly whine and wine about having to be in the Sengoku Jidai. Sure, she complains a little once and a while cuz Inuyasha is beeing a jerk, and a couple other tiems, but she is hardly whiny. She accepts the fact that she has to help and wants to help as much as possible.
