I wish they'd bring out Initial D as well. I've been waiting for it for well over a year now. Maybe they're busy with GTO at the moment... Inital D is truely one of a kind.

Peace. V

Edit: Who knows, maybe they might be thinking about updating the visuals even more for possible future releases.

THE GOOD THING
TPOP is going all-out with initial d next year with ID's tv airing and such.

THE BAD THING
the dub will contain the changed names and the other changes that tpop might add, so the only way to see ID anime uncut is buying the dvd's and watching the subbed version

I bet Initial D is going to actually have a hard time getting accepted as a american TV show then some other anime out there. It's a show about street racing. That's AKA illegal. Alot of people here in Oregon are against it. Some people have died because of it too, which makes it a touchy subject. If parents learn that their kids are enjoying a show about illegal street racing. I can only imagine what will happen :\ I am going to imagine that whoever airs it(can't remember at the moment) will probably put it on late at night. But just the fact that there is a "cartoon" that has illegal street racing will make certain types upset.

Also they're most likely going to butcher it. Them "going all out" probably really means they're going to hack it to pieces. Changing the names is just the start, I bet they'll change large pieces of script to remove some of the long winded speeches about power sliding and car stuff :p.

I've always found it kind of funny that they're gearing an animated series about street racing toward young audiences. :|

I never thought about it being illegal. :heh: It is isn't it? How about a RC car (http://www.anime-generation-x.com/id-58406.html).

Starting a fight, killing and hurting people, and destroying property are all illegal. How many animes have those things in them? I wouldn't worry about this too much...as long as there isn't any drunk driving in it. Then the whole nation will erupt in terror. :dodgy:

With all the anti street racing hysteria that has been brewing it’s easy to assume it’d never be shown on TV in the US. But of course, not much anime is. And since it’s so obscure I doub’t it would be a target of anti street racing types.

*mumbling about anti street racing propaganda*

I’m kind of against name changes myself. But I thought the first season was released already also.

Also, from all the sources I hear from, the type of mountain racing that goes on in initial d isn’t nearly as persecuted as street racing is here. The police tend to look the other way… so I hear.

Yes but the difference is that these are taken in a more "fantasy" type tone. Look at most any american comics. It's usually the good guys beating the bad guys :p I don't exactly know of any show or cartoon on american television that shows random brawling and fighting that people haven't gotten upset over.

Bebop had fighting, but of course it had that fantasy edge to it. It's in the future, they're good guys, bounty hunter. :p That's allowable.

Initial D is based in "current times", it's pretty true to actual street racing & the kids in it are high schoolers ;p

We also have to count the fact that people are hypocrites. They'll accept someone recklessly driving in a busy city like in the show John Doe(crappy show BTW) but wouldn't accept racing down a deserted mountain pass with spotters on the corners.

Look at the sniper that's been attacking people in washington D.C. News/media doesn't even know what the guys motives are yet they bring up Counter Strike because "you can play as a sniper" in it

Truthfully I hope it doesn't run into any problems and I hope they don't have to dumb it down at all. I can just imagine bystanders yelling "oh NO that was TOO dangerous" or "good thing they're BOTH wearing SAFETY BELTS".

Yep the local arcade got that a week ago possibly the most popular game beisdes King of Fighters 2002.

I swear its hard to get a shot on it, but when you do its worth it, its got some of the good tracks from Initial D but no One Night in Arabia.

As for the card system I still havent got a card yet ive been using my friends, racking points for him. You get points after each race which go to modfying your car and the card also saves your times.

New music? Blasphemous! Initial D’s sound track, well, there were a lot of them post production, but it’s all some great music. Especially the original songs selected for most of the racers, guess ill go check out the trailer.

Animephiles with identity crises are always comparing themselves to cartoon characters. It won't be long before some anime nut, pretending they're some Initial-d character, tries to do a drift and kills himself.

Things will get very real, very quick.

I thought that everyone who watches Initial d and drives a car drifts. :D And if someone blames a cartoon for making them drift and hurt/kill themselves I will just give up.

Initial D isnt obscure... its almost the most famous anime in the states that isnt aired on TV. I've been into cars for a few years... so Ive always heard about it, before I was into anime. Plus, it is featured alot in SuperStreet magazine (the best import car magazine). They always have lil things about it.
