Questions about the manga

Ok, I just saw some b&w scans of the manga and there was a whole lot of stuff there that suprised me. To keep the spoilers to a minimum there was a bunch of weird youkai (Schicinin-Tai? (http://www.wot-club.org.uk/Inuyasha/images/vols/v27e.jpg)) who are in a lot of the covers (meaning they're pretty long-time in the series). Then there was Kagome going "I love Inuyasha!", Miroku and Sango acting as if they were a lot futher in their little romance than in the anime ;) and some other stuff.

Anyway, could someone who's read a great deal of the manga tell me about how far the storyline is ahead of the manga and maybe a bit of those youkai (Jankotsu, Bakotsu, Hakushin etc)?

Well...
I don't know the details,
but the story in the Anime is equivelent right now (ep. 88) to Volume 24 - Chapter 232+... and there are 29 Volumes and 285 chapters, So the Manga storyline is about 52 chapters ahead of the Anime...

I'm not sure what is happening with the plot, but I believe they discovered Naraku's hideout already and that there are a lot of things happening in a place called Mount Hakurei (since it's name appears to be in Volumes 26, 27 and 28...).

I'm not sure I answered what you asked, but since I don't have access to the Manga and I don't want to spoil myself I only look at the titles in http://www.wot-club.org.uk/Inuyasha/ but don't read much of the content...

on IRC a group called MangaProject was translating Inuyasha, however another DALnet group called TFT is doing so after MangaProejct...there up chapter 250.

There is one problem in the manga is that Sesshomaru looks like GIRL! :|

Ok, I read a bit futher into the manga desriptions and it would seem that they end with Kagome yelling she loves Inuyasha, while he Sankon Tetsous his way through the door. :D Anyway, in the episode 86 next episode teaser Kikyou said something about Mt. Hakurei (100% certainly the place where Naraku is), so I suppose the anime is actually catching up.
