where did Rei get her Soul??

Does any one here now where Rei got her Soul? she was Created by Ikari but they can't create a soul as was found out in episode 23: REI 3 when Ritsuko destroys the dumby rei's. So how did she get her soul then???

yeah my first thought was lillith but that doesn't make sense if you look at the story. and Rei may be a clone but a clone of what?? Rei was created in Ui's image with lilliths genetics. so maybe it is Lillith.......

Yes, i have always maintained that Rei is in fact Lilith.

i dont think Rei has liliths soul bec. in the first place it took her 7 months to sync with her eva whereas Kaworu took less than an hr. of course you cant blame that delay on Rei being 50% angel/50% human because according to Ritsuko, "physical _____ has nothing to do with syncronization". its not also possible that Rei doesnt have a soul bec. in the first place, Rei IS used to house a soul.

Why is everyone refering to Rei as a clone of Ikari and Lilith but Yui is also a part of her gene pool, and I sort of agree with the Rei getting a soul from Lilith theory, but there are many many Rei's, until Ritsuko killed them, except for one obviously, but what I'm trying to say is, how many souls does Lilith have, there have been three Rei's, and all of them had a soul right, so how is that possible, besides, why would they have a soul and the ones who powered the Dummy Plug not?

It's the one soul that goes between all the Reis, the soul only inhabits one at a time, giving the reason why the dummy plugs are 'Soulless'

I believe one soul of lilith sort of "resides" in all of the Rei's released from the lcl tank. (Remember the room near terminal dogma where Ritsuko tells Misato and Shinji "This is where Rei was born", she's likely referring to birth as the soul being introduced, since the bodies are all manufactured in the tanks) At any rate, Rei shows evidence that there are 2 sides within herself. In her monologue/poem deal she comes in direct contact with this second part, which by my speculation is the soul of Lilith. "Who is this, who is there." *"I am Rei Ayanami"* "I am Rei Ayanami" That whole deal. Also, take the instance of Gendou's glasses, the second Rei cherishes these glasses because Gendou cared for her. The third Rei apparently isn't so thrilled by Gendou, but the importance of the glasses effected the soul of Lilith present within the second Rei which later exists in the third Rei, "I am seeing these for the first time, yet I feel I have seen them before" (something close to that at least, I don't have the episodes on hand).
By my interpretation of these events, the soul of Lilith is more of an ethereal presence than a concrete one and is likely present within a lot of things, not just Rei Ayanami.

Clearing up more confusion:
Yui is also referred to as Ikari. In fact, she's the original Ikari, Gendou took her name as did Shinji.

What about the soul of EVA-0? EVA-01 is Yui, EVA-02 is Asuka's mother, EVA-03 I guess was the Angel.
EVA-04 - EVA-13 : Anyone's guess whose soul's those are.

didn't rei's soul come from yui? didn't gendou create rei after yui's accident, implanting yui's soul into rei. when gendou created rei, he created her, copying the make of adam, therefore, rei's soul would be partly shared with that of adam, so rei's soul is made from yui and adam.

Rei was created from Yui because Gendo is lonely for his wife (he he he my opinion) and was infused with lilith's soul...as Rei is described as "a container of souls"...The reason she took so long to synch was because (this is speculation) that Naoka Akagi's soul was somehow transfered into rei's EVA..and we all know how much Naoka hates rei...

If the Evas are to have a soul in them, then there must already be a vessel, Rei inside them as well. Thus as i said before, the Rei clones would have had to be begun before Yui's death, and probably with Yui's concent.

As for Naoko being in 00, there is no evidence for this.

However if 00 has no residing soul, and Rei is unaware she is Lilith, then she would be able to synch with 00, but it would take her time to do so.

The most obvious clues we get about Yui's soul in Eva-01, before they flat out explain it to us, is Eva-01's reactions to Shinji when the pilot is not in control (activating to protect him, only working for him, etc...)

This considered

Unit 00 during the activation test, and the re-activation does try to punch the crap out of Gendou and Ritsuko (before bashing it's head into the wall until the online battery fails), these are our glimpses at 00's personality sans pilot. Maybe it's just bashing away at the control booth because they are f'ing with it, maybe this is a clue to the soul of 00.

Anything we derive from this is all just speculation, but that's about half the fun of eva, is figuring all this stuff out. Likely, the soul of 00 isn't something even considered in the storyline, it is a rather nit-picky thing to be asking about considering the entirity of eva is about human emotion/drama.

Rei Ayanami

An albino with a personality as bland as her skin. She is the result of an experiment that combined Angel DNA with that of Shinji's mother, Yui Ikari. She is also quite literally the backbone of the NERV Dummy Plug System.
Rei was the guinea pig in most of NERV's experiments having to do with Project E and the Human Instrumentality Project. She was a good little doll.
By the end of the story, three "Rei's" had been released into the world. The first was killed in 2010 by Naoko Akagi, the second killed herself to save Shinji's life, and the third merged with Lilith to finish the Third Impact. The first two clones showed signs of affection toward Gendo Ikari, but the third one disobeyed him and completed the Third Impact against his orders and his plans that he carefully constructed from the very beginning of NERV creation.
It has also been hypothesized that her soul is actually devired from Lilith too. This would help to explain her necessity and ease for which she was able to merge with Lilith.
It must be tough knowing that even if you die there will be a replacement.

Eva Unit-00 is the test model of the Evangelion series. It is piloted by the first child, Rei Ayanami. The Evangelion beserked and injured the pilot during a test with it a few weeks before the 3rd angel, Satchiel, attacked Tokyo-3. It's first task was to defend EVA-01 at all costs, even if it meant being destroyed so that EVA-01 could eliminate the fifth angel. After that mission, EVA-00 is out of action for a while and is given a paint job from Orange to Blue. It is unknown as to why. Unit-00 is responsible for the destruction of the 15th angel after hurling the Spear of Loginus into space and piercing the angel. Unit-00 was destroyed after the pilot decided to contain the angel within her AT field and destroy them both rather than witness Shinji die as well. EVA Unit-00was created AFTER Unit-00. The question asked is who is the soul of Unit-00. Many people THINK it is Nakao Akagi. This is wrong! Despite some evidence to support that claim the soul is none other than Lillith. The mother of all human life. This explains why Shinji could do a test with Unit-00 and that means Asuka could have as well. Unit-00 is NOT a clone of Lillith and simply has its soul. This explains why Lillith attempts to kill Gendo, Rei, and Shinji in the two tests. It hates Gendo for creating Rei out of her. She obviously doesn't like Rei. And Shinji because he is Gendo's sole offspring. Unit-00 is made out of Adam but isn't a clone of him. It also gives a little backup why Lillith was freed from the cross in the movies because Lillith's soul was free with the destruction of Unit-00.
