Ashitakas curse

So I finnaly watched Princess Mononoke :heh: Took me a while to get my hands on a copy.

So anyway first off I have to say great movie I loved it!!

Anyway at the end where the Night Walker gets his head back and grass grows around them. Ashitaka and San(sp?) are lying in the grass and you see Ashitakas hand theres still a faint dark spot on it.

So did his curse actually get lifted or not?

I believe the curse was lifted. What we saw was the remaining discoloration as it was negated by the Forest God. I'll have to watch it again to be sure.

....or you could just say that it was a scar... which i think it was... not that my opinion matters.

Slightly offtopic but still on the whole curse thing.

Ok when Ashitaka and San take out the head of the Forest God all that green water splashes on them and instantly that turns their skin black ala the curse. I dont quite understand you get cursed by a god which turned into a demon right so was the headless Nightwalker a demon??

Yep, it was the anti-thesis of what the Nightwalker was; a destroyer not a creator

Yeah, the curse was lifted.. you don't see any more spasms....

..and yeah, I believe the mark was a scar of sorts.

Just a scar huh, hmm some sort mark for him to remeber his great adventure :)

Yes the curse was pretty much lifted. The Forest Spirit let there be a scar to remind Ashitaka of how hatred consumes your flesh and takes over mind and spirit. Personally, I also wanted to see lady Iboshi die, but everyone was so fixated with her. I need a curse, too. If Ashitaka could handle it, I could, and it got him a girlfriend. (sorta) :o

Yeah she should of burnt in hell but eh she lost an arm so Im kinda satisfied
