How tall are they and how heavy are they?

I'm not entirely sure about the weight, but I think that the Evas are about 40 storeys high. That would make it about 100-120 meters tall.

Pretty heavy, but not heavy enough to sink a battleship when they're standing on it. I reckon if you used a height/mass ratio, it'd be about the same as a human height/mass ratio. The eva's weren't all metal, they were a biological creation inside some pretty nifty looking armor.

This assumption is based on what? That it was big and called armor? Maybe I missed a day in class, but armor doesn't have to weigh a lot, especially if it's, say, made out of some special alloy that's not really heavy. It's not steel, or else I think when Ramiel first blasted Unit 01, it would have been vaporized as fast as that building :)

The 'armour' around the Eva's isn't armour, its meerly bindings to keep the Eva's under NERV's control. Id say that they weigh 4'700kg - 5'400kg. Witch is (very very roughly) 60'000lbs - 70'000lbs. Wich includes the NERV bindings...

Hellbender, even so, it still serves as armor. Wether that's at all intended, who knows, but it sure made the series longer, didn't it? (I mean, how many times would these kids have died if they didn't have a bazillion layers of stuff to burn through first? "Look, it's Ramiel. Lauch Shinji". 30-35 tons? I dunno, I'm not very familiar with the weight of heavy machinery. The Eva's don't seem to leave footprints unless they're jumping around and such... of course, if they weigh that much, how are the stealth bomber-type planes flying them around? Isn't that a big much for a plane to lift?

Okay, now I actually wanna know how much they weigh, hehehe.

hmmm.. Im pretty sure Evas height are around 40 meters, but i dont know there weight. In SRW and SRW Alpha game ( Super robot wars ) it says on the eva Profile 700, i dont think evas weight 700 tons though heheh...

NO WAY!! If a car can weigh 2 tonnes (2000kg) then I don't think that a 40 storey EVA can weigh 5000kg!!!
A human foot is about 26cms long, 7 cms wide (average, of course it's wider at the toes and thinner at the heel)
If you weigh, for example, an average 60kg (can't be too heavy), then you have 60kgs of weight spread over an area of 0.0364 metres squared. Take it to an easy figure and you have 1650kgs per metre squared.

Say an EVA is 120m tall, and say the foot is 18m long (taking the foot being 0.15 of the human height) and 4m wide, then if the weight is the same ratio as a human then there would be 237,600kgs of weight for 120m tall.

Now just reading a few posts, I'll rearrange a few figures..

1650kgs per metre squared on the human foot.

Height = 30m, foot = 4.5 x 1 = 4m squared,
Weight = 6600kgs

Height = 50m, foot = 7.5 x 1.8 = 13.5m squared
Weight = 22275kgs

Height = 80m, foot = 12 x 2.75 = 33m squared
Weight = 54450kgs

Height = 100m, foot = 15 x 3.5 = 52m squared
Weight = 85800kgs

If anybody has the right height, we may be able to rouglywork it out

Yeah yeah yeah, the bindings aren't armor, the bindings aren't armor. They don't have to be made to protect the Eva to protect it. The bigass building in front of the Eva when Ramiel blasts the hell out of it isn't armor, but it would protect unit 01 to some extent (If it hadn't, yanno, been vaporized).

I think the evas change height scene by scene as when unit 01 held kaoru he was quite large but at other times you see tha inside the entry plug there is a tiny little capsule with the pilots sit in. (Its show after the fight with Ramiel.)

I remebered something else! Has anyone seen the Gamera movies? Theres one SBS every few weeks. Anyway Gamera is 60 meters high, and surely that would be comparable to an eva?
