Where did they get the names from, for the Saint Beasts in the english translations, I know in the first Final Fantasy for the gameboy(old game) That the names of the 4 main bosses are the same as the names of the saint beasts.
Are those names significant in Japanese folk lore?

yes, i believe its folklore, i think its either japanese or chinese...anyhow, Fushigi Yugi has the same name, i know Seiryu and Suzaku are.
im 50% sure on what im talking about, hopefully, someone here would be able to provide a much better reply :heh:

Yea, your right about that. It's folklore in Japan. The DVD I got of YYH says that they are the beast that are from the four directions of the compass: north, south, east, west. I'll can tell you which direction each one is when I look at the DVD again.

Suzaku is for the East, Seiryu the west, Byako the south, and Genbu for the north I believe

The names comes from the same book that DB, FY, and countless other series get inspiration from a book entitled Universe of the Four Gods
