View Full Version : Ilpalazzo is watching YOU
I just got the first two Excel Saga DVDs, and had a laugh at the not-so-standard warning at the beginning

I need to see a series if it has a disclaimer like that!

You've never seen Excel Saga? What's wrong with you?

I've never figured it out, but I think it has something to do with a large orb of calcium where my medulla oblongata should be.
I wanted to get the first volume at AX2002, but getting the Berserk and Love Hina box set with associated first DVD was more important. Of course, all I had heard of Excel Saga were the rantings on AB. I had never seen any direct visual evidence. Hell, the one AMV I downloaded was of such crappy quality that I gave up halfway through it.

Schizm: I never thought you'd post something good about something something, you cynical bastard.
Boys and Girls: More evidence of why Excel Saga rocks. Of course, you won't know the true meaning of Excel Saga until episode 26.

...and then I had to have the Escaflowne box set and then FLCL came out and and and...
I won't be able to ask my cheap-ass friends to buy my cheap ass any DVDs, so I'm just going to have to wait until the beginning of January. Which means putting off buying the Kenshin Kyoto Arc again, and not getting the Evangelion movies, and and and...
The whole point of watching 26 episodes of Excel Saga is to prepare yourself mentally for the two episodes of Puni Puni Poemi

I believe Puni Puni Pomei prepares you for episode 26, because episode 26 is the most insanely funny and perverted thing I've ever seen.

Excel Saga isnt really a priority to watch, i personally found it over-rated, plus, the only way to understand the series is to turn on that blasted annoying ADVidnotes. of course, ive only seen the first 5 episodes so i really shouldnt be judging it...
anyhow, kenshin boxsets will be out (one for each season) so i recomend waiting for that (finding individual dvd's of Kenshin in chronological order is a pain).

Driz, you should prioritize as follows:
Of what you don't already have:
Kenshin
Excel
Love Hina
Throw out:
Escaflowne
Beserk
Excel Saga has a certain humor to it that very few animes, or other entertainment media for that matter, can compare to. I understand that it doesn't apeal to everyone though...

I wouldn't bother with Kenshin beyond the Kyoto Saga.........

Sorry, my friendly C++ #INCLUDE...but Berserk is a priority. I've seen the whole series and I think it's more than worthy to own. I'd pass up Love Hina DVDs for Berserk. Why did you mention Escaflowne? I've already got the series and the movie. And if you meant the Evangelion movies, I've got them as well (Canada has some cheap prices!).
So it looks like a focus on Rurouni Kenshin, Berserk, and Excel Saga. But can I survive putting FLCL off???
The world will never know.

Well I wasn't certain which ones you had and didn't have, hence "of the ones you don't already have."
Okay have it your way.

Why's it rated 17+? That's the only thing keeping me from seeing it.

I won't add to this talk but when I first saw the warning to Excel, I had to eject the DVD just to read it again. At first I thought it was just another boring warning, but when I saw "Chicken Feathers" I knew something was up.
