hmmm...
I really don't think so... :smash:
Ok so there was one strong word
"Ilppalazo, I love you so... -------.. much" When she's stuck in the hole
That line was class, for some reason it's just funny cause you rarely hear those kind of lines in a anime series. Movies maybe...
Either that or I misheard the line... Like i misheard pretty much all the lines that Excel spoke in the dub ¬_¬
Don't think the sub had any foul language did it? I don't think so, dub only, but still 17+?
Bit much...

Nah...i think they're just over cesoring it.
Wait till you get to ep 26. Now thats 17+ :naughty:
And, what comes after episode 26........doesn't even have a rating. I doubt it'll be released outside Japan :)

What?!?
I got Volume 1 the other day and it's only rated PG. I'm not sure about the rest, but Volume 1 was. But yes it did sound like Excel dropped the "F" word. But the cover does say "Low Level Coarse Language".
But yeah I have to agree that Excel is hard to understand. She talks way too fast. You really have to admire the job that the voice actress is doing. Trying to say that entire dialog, without mumbling.
So what do you guys think of those Pop-Up things. They do come in Handy, but they are also kind of annoying. I'm not sure weather to turn them off or not.
Oh yeah, you have got to love the Pit or Big Hole, or whatever it is.

I don't know about the wider world, but I don't think there's a company anywhere in the US that's totally consistent with its ratings. I suppose their philosophy in ADV's case is to rate a series according to its worst scenes, in which case episode 26 would certainly qualify it. OTOH, Eva deserves a 17+ rating too, and I'm not sure it got one. But that would prove my point, after all.

One of the reasons is probably as they don't want to have a low rating for most of the series, then put it up for the last Ep. Ep 26 is 17+ ;)

ep 26 is just one episode, you should at it as an overall. As an ovrall its okay
There is no way that Excel Saga needs to be rated 17+. I mean.. come on.. I hear 12 year olds swearing nowadays. Anyway.. yeah. It's still a funny anime that mocks games.. social ideas.. other animes.. etc. I've been looking for an anime like this.. one to "knock" on some stuff and make some real dumb.. but funny jokes. *goes back to being quiet* :goody:

I have to agree. It's pretty stupid to use age alone as a measure of maturity. I've seen people in their 20's who shouldn't be allowed out alone.
:p  TFC

Crap. What happens in episode 26? I've been slowly but surely convincing my sister to buy Excel Saga...but she won't if anything really bad happens! I guess it depends on what it is...:tongue3:

I believe this show definately deserves a 17+ rating. The show's content is outrageous. They'll will do just about anything on there. Everything from sexual innuendos to violence or what not, this is definately something little kiddies shouldn't be watching.
Ep 26 has nudity, blood and many other things that young kids shouldn't see :p ;)
Also, I don't recall Excel saying the F word in my fansubs. Perhaps AchtungAffen is right. :confused2

Yep! She uses the "F" word in the first episode believe it or not. But you have to be honest though, this series definately warrants a 17+ rating. Anything less would be uncivilized! Seriously though, the constant mayhem along with the crazy diaolgue, I mean it would be really hard for kids to follow this, although the show is not meant to be taken seriously on any accounts. I imagine that if a little kid where able to watch it, that kid would probably have nightmares or something.

Episode 26 was not released on TV, and is sort of a "bonus." The story ends at ep 25, and 26 is just extra laughs, and boy does it ever deliver.
Actually (if I'm not wrong) the whole story (as in the real manga story) wasn't finished in the anime, coz I know there's one major manga character that didn't came out in the anime (I've seen some manga covers)
But yeah, if you don't like nudity and blood you can skip ep 26, its just a bonus/filler as tdm said.

Define how much blood and nudity are we talking about? Buttox? Frontal? High blood presure? Giant puddles?
It'll be spoilers if I describe how much blood there are :p
As for nudity, they showed breasts (with nipples o' course  ) Then there are lesbianism, lolita fetishes, excretion and other stuff children shouldn't see :) Maybe TDM would like to elaborate ;)
I don't like buying anime I haven't seen but I saw a trailer for ES and took the risk. I picked up the first DVD yesterday and loved it! Fantastic spoof like anime that is actually funny without being like so many other 'funny' anime out there coughinacough. Those 'AD vid notes' are quite good and gave me a reason to watch it dubbed and WTF!? Does OFLC even bother to watch the anime they rate these days?
I need to find a shop that has the second volume now I must have more excel saga - I just love it so f*****g much.

I know as much as Love Hina is good, I wouldn't call it a Comedy. But Excel is the First total full on Comedy that I have seen and can't stop laughing at. Although Nadesico is very funny, I wouldn't put it into the league of Excel. Because Nadesico has quite a bit of Seriousness to it. But of course I have only see the first 5 episodes.

It's PG in Australia. She uses the "F" word more than once, not just the first episode.

i dont remember that much swearing in the earlier episodes. and i am going by the subs i , umm, got.

The only problem about Australia's DVD rating system. They only rate it by volume, not series. Hence why the first 6 volume of Evangelion were rated PG while the last two were rated M15+. But for some reason, Kenshin is rated M15+ when I really think it's a show 10-15 year olds could enjoy. There are only a few iffy scenes that spoil that.
But with Excel episode 26 I have a theory on it here (http://animeboards.com/showthread.php?s=&postid=537682342#post537682342)

Kudos to you, cuz I can't understand a single word that comes out of her mouth! Excel reminds me of Sana from Kodocha, talking a mile a minute. They both keep my finger hovering over the pause button so I can read what they're saying. Makes me feel old, but it's fun. :)
epi 26 is just adult content...
otherwise the dub just added swearing to make what Excel was saying funnier, she really doesn't cuss at all, though in epi 26 the japanese voice is bleeped out, but I don't think she was cusing.

I do not like to plead....... but I implore the someone tell me what happens in ep 26. Just drop me a pm if you don't want to post it.

But she only appears on the final ep and in puni puni peomi right?
Besides, does Watanabe use in RL that afro look or that special was just a joke? And the red suit too.
Does Rikudo Kouji look like the anime?

Watanabe does have an afro in real life but not as big, I dont know if he wears that suit around or not.
From that quick 5 second clip of Rikudo dancing around with the Excel girls in the extras on DVD 2 I can say he kinda looks like him cept the his more exagerated in the anime

pardon me if i;m worng, but in episode five does'nt excel use the F word again?
its when shes discovered in the locker room for teh first time by those civil servant cronies and she sais some garbled words that sound a little like she;s saying " Fuk ya all!"
but she could jyst be syaing " fugicle!"
anyone know for sure?
and by the way the F word she uses in episode 3 was hilarious, im surprised ADV were brave enough to do it.
Whats funnier is that the british dvd rating was only 12...so censors FINALLY accept that kids as young as 12 know and use foul langauge now? thank god! nex thing ya know american TV censors will accept the fact that americans have sex:p

Hmm, I only have the first 3 volumes. Ep 26 sounds... intresting. Sounds suspiciously like fanservice filler. There's occasional swearing, but I think the 17+ rating is fitting when compared to other titles. Of course, I'm 16, "But who the hell cares?!?!" :P

The only thing that I count as 17+ is the banana eating in the theme song (look at the trailer); but the banana part is the funniest section of the theme song. It really shouldn't be 17+, even if episode 26 does sound as kinky as you say. It's just kinky, sexual innuendo, slapstick fun.

Well, on that episode, there's an underage going to a love hotel with an adult (something that IIRC is rock and roll in Japan), and even getting naked. On previews of episode 26, on episode 25, Excel says something about "showing everything the TV executives don't want us to show". Besides, they fired a TV executive just because the Evangelion "sex scene", in wich we hear moans, and then see Misato's hand holding Kaji's one.
If someone got fired over that... imagine what would happen with E.S. episode 26.

No I pretty sure she was of age. That why the Scientist left. He didn't like girls with pubic hair.

Thats because she was fully developed 'down there' not because she was of age. I'd say Girl-Women but somehow that sounds transgender now doesn't it?

Ep 26 definitely merits a 17+.
I don't like ep 26, I do think it goes too far. :(
Same thing with Onegai Sensei's 13th OVA episode. Though that didn't go nearly as far.

The best part of episode 26 is when Excel Saga parodied its own OP and ED sequences.
By the way, on one of the "next episode" segments, Excel's Dub actor speaks slowly enough to be understood by the average ear. But that one is a fluke, because that's the only time she spoke so calmly for so long. Her "calm" being the equivalent as somebody who has drunk a dozen cups of coffee.

I don't like ep 26, I do think it goes too far. :( Agreed. While I still found it funny, it was trying too hard in places. Just trying to shock you. Puni Puni Poemi did too, but that was funny. Maybe because it had a story while episode 26 was all about T&A.
And I love the opening to Episode 26.

The poop in Dr Slump is usually pink and it can talk .., I don't think that's as offensive as the Menchi doing its business on the screen.
